Prominent Former Neo-Nazi Among Five Dead in Arizona Shooting

GILBERT, Ariz. (AP/The Blaze) — Police in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert say a man shot and killed four people, including a toddler, before killing himself.

Gilbert police Lt. John Lyle told The Arizona Republic that authorities aren‘t looking for a suspect in Wednesday afternoon’s shooting at a home, which left five people, including a toddler, dead. Police didn’t immediately return calls from The Associated Press.

Police say the man was armed with several firearms, and officers recovered two handguns and a shotgun.

The gunman‘s identity and motives aren’t known. However, ABC 15 reports, in the following video, that the gunman is among one of the five dead from the shooting:

The shootings occurred after 1 p.m. Witnesses say a SWAT team sealed off part of the area and investigators told residents to remain indoors.

The identity of at least one of the victims has been conclusively established as Pinal County Sheriff candidate and former Neo-Nazi JT Ready.

Police have not disclosed whether Ready himself was the shooter, or simply one of the victims. However, evidence about his previous actions suggests he at least knew his way around a firearm. As recently as 2010, Ready was leading a paramilitary organization called the US Border Guard. This coincided with his period as a self-proclaimed “national socialist.”

UPDATE: The AP has further details on the child who was shot, as well as witness reaction.

He said the girl was alive when authorities arrived at the scene but was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police said the other bodies were still inside the home.

About three hours after the shooting, a man walked up to the police tape, pointed to the crime scene and said, “I have a daughter who lives in that house.”

Police pulled him behind the tape and out of view. Several seconds later a loud cry of anguish could be heard. Minutes after, the same man was weeping and left the scene with police.

The shootings occurred after 1 p.m. in a subdivision southeast of Phoenix that is filled with stucco homes with red-tile roofs.

Witnesses said a SWAT team sealed off part of the area and investigators told residents to remain indoors.

FBI spokesman Manuel Johnson said federal agents were at the scene “providing personnel and technical assistance” to Gilbert police, but that the police department was the lead agency.

DeAnn Rawson, who has lived in the Lago Estancia neighborhood for 13 years, stood on a street corner and talked to drivers who rolled down their windows to ask what happened.

Rawson, 38, said she was sick to her stomach over what happened. “As you can tell, everyone driving by is absolutely shocked,” she told The Arizona Republic.

“I would have come and got her,” Rawson said of the youngest victim. “It makes me mad. I can’t have children, and you have other people doing things that are insane.”

Gary Davis, who also lives in the neighborhood, said, “There‘s no excuse for taking a child’s life.”

“Nothing ever happens in this neighborhood,” Davis said. “It’s a shock to us.”

Now the Government will step in and make it a felony not to have your gun registered. I understand Obama wants to make this one of his top prioritys next year – disarm America. It happened in Germany and I read where England has given up and is letting their citizens have guns again. There were to many thugs and the folks and the Bobbies had none. When you outlaw guns – gun runners get rich. Kinda like probition – Ted Kennedys dad made the family fortune.

    this is what tax-payers are paying billions of dollars a year for ,this article as reported using information aquired from police (maybe),states a MAN armed with two hand guns and a shot-gun, killed himself and four others including an infant.
    they proceed to put an image of one of the deceased,calling him a neo-nazi,running for county sheriff,and have evidence of him knowing his way around a fire-arm.
    next paragraph, there is no evidence to conclude who the shooter was.
    the swat-team came in and secured part of the area, and told people to stay inside,but a neighbor was out front telling passer-bys her version of what happened.
    abc reports that the gun-man was one of the deceased.
    i hope things end as good as they possibily can in this tradgey.
    if not abc.the arizona rebubulic,and the citizens of gilbert,are wide open to a very large libel suit,to me the only real FACT reported in this article is that the neighbor-hood is made up of,stucco homes with red tiles,good luck gilbert.

    I’ve lived in Phoenix for a long time. I’ve followed local politics here for a long time as well. If you are against illegal immigration and as high profile and vocal as JT Ready you’re going to have powerful enemies. My initial reaction is he was murdered along with everyone else in that house. We’ll probably never know the truth. The liberal main stream media will be happy to blame JT, since there doesn’t appear to be any witnesses. We’ll never know the truth about this one. I do not want to appear unsympathetic. 5 people murdered, including a 2 year old, horrific; but knowing local politics and news reporting here in Phoenix, after a detailed investigation here in Phoenix the truth will never see the light of day.

    So how long did it take the SWAT to enter the premises after the the first shot was fired and they arrived on the scene?? Let me guess 6 to 24 hours. Just say’in. This sarcasm goes back to the VT Tech shootings when the first responders took forever to enter the building. In the mean time the nut case was stilll shooting and killing . What do we pay these guys for.?

      The SWAT team entered the house after first responders had already entered and cleared the house. SWAT entered and did a secondary search. The house had already been cleared. The first arriving units were there within two – three minutes. The man shot four people and then killed himself. There is no government cover up here. Some of you people are pathetic. Grow up! The shooter was an abuser and there were numerous calls for service at that house for domestic disputes and welfare checks.

      Without actually supplying you with the numerous reports taken at that address, what else would you like as proof? If you live in AZ stop in at the Gilbert Police Department and request all the reports taken involving the shooter. They are public record you know. I am sure once you have read the reports you would actually learn the truth about this guy. Some already know the truth.

      SWAT didn’t go in first, Patrol did as soon as they got there. They found the baby with signs of life and she was transported to the hospital where she died.

      At Virgina Tech the shooter had chained the main doors shut so it took a few minutes for patrol to get in, but as soon as the killer saw that the police were trying to get in he offed himself.

      You should take a couple of minutes to get the facts before making yourself look like a fool.

      @Jedi I have all the proof I need and still see the proof when I close my eyes. I still feel the anger within me that I felt when I realized the two – three minute response to the home was just enough time for JT to kill the innocent four and then himself.

      If you cannot read between the lines and want to keep beating the “provide the proof drum” then you are out of luck.

      I just read this story in the Daily Mail. Their article said he was part of the “Notorious Minutemen,” and the founder of Americans First – and extremist nativist group. The guy sounds like someone concerned about illegal immigration, but he was a registered democrat.

      What he did was kill his ex, her boyfriend and everyone around them, including the kids. What this actually was was a domestic killing. Not some random shooting spree.

      The media is just jinning up a bunch of hysterical nonsense when this is no different than the other lunatics that killed their estranged wives and kids that’s been in the paper recently.

      I wish people who split would just get on with their lives.

      Mil-dot and Jedi. You completly missed the point. The first word I said was IF. Remember Ruby Ridge? I have no problems with people, (mostly patriotic Americans), banding together and forming militias of well armed well trained, and well DISCIPLINED, civilian citizens. The 2nd amendment, If read it correctly, pretty much demands it. What I do have a problem with, is when these elements spout off their marxist or nazi propoganda, flout all of their weaponry, and call themselves patriots. IF this man self identified himself as a nazi, he is as un-American as our present CIC. Don’t believe me? Why don’t you ask one of the few remaining WWII vets. One of the biggest aspects of a warrior is DISCIPLINE, and IF this man IS the shooter, he had none.
      I’m sorry if my rage led me to a poor choice in wording, it really pi$$es me off when I hear of these cases. School shootings, mall shootings, this incident, and others all boil down to someone not giving a damn about the rights God has given him, enforced in writing and blood by our forefathers.

      There is too much missing info on this case, and sadly, J.Q. Public will probably never know the whole truth. All who witnessed the event, are dead. I don’t know about the rest of them, but I know the little girl is running around Heavens streets.
      Yes, the OSI, now CIA, and many other govt. entities, took in hundreds of the nazi inteligencia, scientists, SS, and others. Not that it was the right thing to do, but we couldn’t let them fall into Soviet hands. The info and technological know how they posessed was too valuable.
      We have a much bigger threat to contend with now, and I believe ALL patriotic Americans will have to unite against it.
      Kaffir means “unbeliever or infidel” in Arabic. I have a tattoo, written in Arabic, on the back of my lower right arm that, when aiming a weapon clearly states, “I will never submit to allah!”
      Every incident that I cited above, just adds fuel to the gun control agenda of the left. Until this poser is out of office, I fear a martial law situation whereby he will order a mass confiscation of weapons, leaving the the general populace unprotected.

      @ kaptainkaffir – Nice tat! Love it! As for the illegal martial law. I don’t think it can ever happen. There are too many citizens with firearms. And a lot more to come. People are becoming informed (you can verify this on nearly every news website now). The only way to take the US is by a large scale disease, or nukes. Of course, if they could trick the people into eating poison, that would be better. But how would they possibly get people to consume Aspartame, or High Fructose Corn Syrup, or Genetically Modified Foods. It would almost sound impossible. Perhaps they could get the citizens to somehow become addicted to little plastic objects that send off dangerous signals. And if these objects were always close to them. Oh well. Impossible, I say.

      Aside from all the brouhaha and conspiracy theories flying around every time someone says “boo”; if this was a cartel hit, I’d definitely want to know about it.

      Your membership has to be approved in the Minutemen. JT Ready was not allowed to be a member of the Minutemen , that is why he started his own group. I know because I am a member.
      Just because the SPLC adds the word “intelligence” into their alphabet soup banner doesnt make anything they say true. And they are a bunch of self assumed non authorities with no real credibility except what the mental midgets( Dems, Libs and the unitiated and uninformed) give them.
      I live here in AZ and have spent/volunteered many an hour on the border, and the SPLC doesnt like it so they call everbody a racist and try to slander the work and integrity of many in the group by associating every crackpot with the Minutemen. WE know better.
