Promise Kept! Mila Kunis Attends Marine Corps Ball

Greenville Daily Reflector:

A Hollywood actress made good on her promise to attend the Marine Corps Ball.

Mila Kunis joined the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines to celebrate the 236th birthday of the Marine Corps. The ball began with a ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Greenville Convention Center.

Kunis arrived at the Pitt-Greenville Airport about 2:30 p.m. Friday and was taken straight to the convention center. She was captured on camera by veteran WNCT television videographer Kenneth Roundtree.

Publics affairs officer Capt. Scott Sasser said that Sgt. Scott Moore and Kunis both were “enjoying the night” as was the rest of the unit.

The celebrity date has brought a lot of attention to the ball, but the focus has not turned away from the importance of celebrating fallen troops and sacrifices that the unit has made, Sasser said.

“The Marines and sailors know what the night is about,” he said. “That’s been the focus the whole time.”

The unit was deployed to Afghanistan for seven months and lost seven troops during that time.

Cpl. William Steffy said he was excited to celebrate the Marine Corps’ birthday and for Kunis to have the opportunity to go to the ball.

“It’s good that she got to come on a date with a Marine,” he said.

Fox News:

Kunis, 28, was reportedly whisked straight from the airport to the convention center to meet her date, Sgt. Scott Moore, who just recently returned from seven months of heavy fighting in the Musa Qala and Now Zad districts in Afghanistan. The couple was said to be very much enjoying the evening.

If you haven’t seen it, here is the original YouTube video inviting Kunis to the ball:

Forgive me, I’m an old woman. She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in the 1950′s. Would love to see a picture of her dress.
Okay, I’m not that shallow; I’ve had family members killed in wars and I honor their sacrifice.

Good for this celebrity. And good for the fact that she is displaying a non-Hollywood attitude of hating America and the people who founded and built it.

I’d like to see more of them express patrioism. Pro military events like these has got to rub off on them a bit.

      Contrast this with Jane Fonda.

Sorry, I don’t give a crap about Audry Hepburn. To Devil Dog and others, if you remember correctly, she originally intended to turn the guy down. Then her goofy boy pal Dustin Timberlake talked her into it. She said to him, and this is a quote, “I’ll do it for youuuuuuuuu” ( bat eyelashes). She does not have class. She did it because she was talking a beating on the web. She did it for the publicity.

I just had the image of Audrey Hepburn doing voice-over work for the character of Meg on “Family Guy” and I can’t stop chuckling.

Bravo, Ms. Kunis! You are a rare class act in the classless pit of Hollywood!

Well of course she was going to turn him down initially. He’s a complete stranger. You don’t take requests like that right off the bat. You might end up like those guys that went out to the job interview and got shot. Stuff happens and it’s smart to think things through first. An argument against her could be made about turning down any of her millions, YES MILLIONS of “Fans” So she didn’t just jump on the chance to go out of her way with some stranger who might be some crazy stalker for all she knew. Don’t be silly.

Audrey Hepburn was a red sympathizer. The great Joe McCarthy had files a foot thick on her leftist leanings. Breakfast at Tiffany’s? No way, that’s reserved for Calista and Newt. More like My Fair Commie.

Audrey was set to star in My Mao My Mentor before she died. Seems all her famine relief work in Turkey and Somalia and Bangladesh, along with the time she spent living in Central America trying to create equality of opportunity for the poor led her to a single over-riding belief . . . ” there is only one man-made solution – peace.”

What kind of lunacy is that?

But hey, Mila? You bet. Any day.

Audrey Hepburn? No, Hepburn was beautiful; Kunis is a few notches above cute. But that’s only a comparison of their physical appearances. Hepburn’s character far exceeds anything Kunis has exhibited so far. Hollywood has become a rotting cesspool since the days of Audrey Hepburn, so what she did here was a very nice thing to do. I only hope that Mila can rise above that waste and become half the woman Audrey was. Only time will tell.

Thank you, Scott Moore, for your service. The same to all of the people who have served in recent wars. We owe our freedom to you. Also please remember their families. They deserve a thank you too.

We send them off with a smiles on our faces and pride in our hearts
We tell them we love them and not to worry about us
We go on with our lives as best as we can but live every minute with fear gnawing our guts
We think of them hourly and know it will be months until we see them again
We hear of battles and terror attacks and we wait to find out if they’re still alive
But the hardest of all is hearing others condemn them and knowing our soldier gaurds their freedom to say it

Kunis deserves a special thanks as she is what made America great, an immigrant. “Mila” Markovna Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, USSR (now independent Ukraine). Her being there is a testament to the greatness of this country. She has been a favorite for a while. Now she joins my short list of favorite Hollywood actresses. God Bless you Mila and thanks for supporting the men and women who give us our freedom. Go out and rent or buy “Friends with Benefits” and support them as they support the Marines. One last thought, to every serviceperson Marine or not. Thank you for your service and God Bless you.

Do you have any evidence of her hating the military or using this for PR? If nothing else, she accepted the invitation and a Marine got his wish. As a result she probably has a greater respect for our military now than she did before. That’s certainly a good result, even if her motives were selfish, which I don’t believe they were. Kudos to her.

Not that Wikipedia is always right, but you may want to read the Wikipedia entry for her. You might change your mind about her. Being born in the Soviet Union and emigrating to the U.S. with her family as a child probably gives her a pretty good perspective on freedom. It also appears that she is not in any way a publicity hound.

I don’t think this was a publicity stunt at all. I have searched the internet after the 10th and could not find a story confirming that she had attended the ball, only previous stories that she accepted the invitation. I did find stories that Timberlake had attended. I then made an assumption that she perhaps had not attended for some reason. This is the first confirmation I have read. If it was for publicity, those stories would have been out there long ago and unavoidable. I have to say, based on this information, I like her and her style. She must be a classy dame.

If you look at all the great war movies over the decades, they almost always are about making the individual soldier’s story personal and human, and about the conflicts that generals and the troops face. It’s one thing for Hollywood at times to be critical of certain government actions, but I’ve never seen a Hollywood movie that disparaged troops, and I’ve seen just about every one ever made.

      …TEA
