Protesters Pepper Sprayed at Air and Space Museum in DC

Protesters in DC have picked a new target: the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. The Washington Post reports that the museum on the National Mall was closed this afternoon after a “large group of protesters” tried to push past security guards and enter the museum according to a Smithsonian spokeswoman. Video has emerged on YouTube and Smithsonian spokeswoman Linda St. John confirmed to the Post that at least one demonstrator was pepper-sprayed by a museum guard:

“The protesters attempted to enter the museum through doors facing the National Mall. They were carrying large signs and other items not allowed inside the museum, St. John said.
When a security guard told them they could not enter, demonstrators pushed the guard outside and up against a wall, St. John said. Another guard approached and pepper-sprayed one protester before D.C. police and U.S. Park Police were called, she said. At least one protester may have been arrested.”
Smithsonian spokesman John Gibbons told AP that the group of demonstrators, estimated between 100 and 200 people, arrived at about 3 p.m. Saturday. One woman was arrested.
It has not been confirmed if the group that tried to march on the Air and Space Museum is officially affiliated with OccupyDC. Stop the Machine! has claimed to have been the group pepper-sprayed at the museum.
According to the Stop the Machine! Twitter account, the group went to the Air and Space Museum to protest militarism and drones.

These, by their own logic, should be back on campus protesting the school itself for controlling their financial lives for years to come with exponential tuition hikes which are WAY above and beyond inflation. This “handful” doesn’t really grow, but no matter, they have planned for the unionized, “push the guard up against the wall” types to step in next– to lend a hand and make it all look like a movement which is growing. Gauards wouldn’t let you bring signs & stuff inside … because it’s a museum, not a protest site. There were hundreds of fellow TEA Partiers inside the museum … quietly enjoying the museum and a break from the D.C. heat. Anyone who ever compares TEA Party rallies to the losers are the same one’s who would compare TEA Party members to Nazis … the the total analogy is valid … TEA vs Protesters = TEA vs Nazis. The TEA Party is at the extreme opposite of both groups.

Number 2: So 10 people were out of line two years ago in D.C. and got arrested, and somehow that’s supposed to be a legitimate comparison to this “Occupy” situation where 700 people were arrested in one day? Last September there were upwards of a half million people on the mall in one day, and I don’t believe there was a single arrest, plus they didn’t trash the place…give me a break.
Number 3: One guy in Arizona, who obviously wasn’t part of the main gathering, gets arrested for being a complete moron, and that’s ALSO supposed to be comparable? You’re going to have to do a lot better than that.

The Tea Party was only given positive media coverage by Fox News because it was conveniently against the Obama administration. Much, much wealthier Republican politicians and backers started to fund the Tea Party immediately after, eager to add them as a major new denomination to the Republican Party.
Protests for both movements have been largely peaceful. There has been no looting or violence on part of the OWS protestors. The difference is media portrayal, and the fact that most Tea Party protests started out in widely spread-out rural areas. The police in those areas are not nearly as physical as the NYPD has shown itself to be.
The NYPD has been caught on camera and social media repeatedly targeting protestors who are recording video of their actions – and video recording in a public area is in no way illegal. The conditions that call for pepper spray and physical restraint are very limited, and numerous videos show that the NYPD’s actions were far more aggressive than the situation called for.

The guy arrested in Arizona was NOT a TEA Partier.
He was at a TEA Party rally, and was protesting the speaker, Sheriff Arpaio.
The other one, well, they were LEGALLY at Pelosi’s office, but didn’t realize they were required to leave because they were asked to leave. So, they were arrested for that, and for shouting across a hall. THAT IS IT. No violence, no vandalism, no looting, and not even ONE TEA PARTIER has taken a CRAP ALL OVER A POLICE CAR.
Remember, THE TRUTH LIVES HERE.
When you post LIES, we WILL research them. We WILL find the truth. No matter WHO it points to…

There are others, of course from two years ago because that’s when the protests were. Do any significant numbers gather to protest anymore?

I have to say with the chaotic nature and aggressive stance that these idiots took by trying to bum rush the guards. They are very lucky that a guard didn’t shoot one of them. I have a feeling that the police will be tracking down these protestors and arresting them for threatening a federal official/and or a federal building. All of those protestors that rushed the door pulled a guard out and put him up against the wall you deserved that shot of pepper spray!!!!
