Prototype ‘Air Clicker’ Takes Photos With Just Forefinger and Thumb

How many times have you held your forefinger and thumb up in a camera shape and snapped an air shot to be committed only to your memory? Soon that action, with all the air in between — no point-and-shoot or cell phone camera required — could be photographing all your precious moments.
The Air Clicker is a two finger camera designed by Yeon Su Kim that is “doing it the Apple way”, according to Yanko Design. Yanko’s website states this prototype camera “strips away all the unnecessary aspects to a digital camera design“ and ”leaves us with a Bluetooth enabled camera lens and a motion-sensor shutter button mounted on two rubber bands.”
Here’s how it works:
If you want to click pictures, wear the camera band on your thumb and the shutter button on your forefinger and gesture to click a pic. To take videos, simply curve your fingers to mimic a video camera grip and shoot. The tension from the finger movement triggers the shutter button to operate.
Even though smartphone cameras have amazing picture quality now and point-and-shoot cameras are smaller than ever, SlashGear sums up how you should think about this camera nicely: “Try not to think too hard about how impossible this is at the moment, instead imagine a world with no bulk and jump around in anticipation!”

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 12:57pmThis is just hype. Where is the battery? Running a Class I Bluetooth link and a digital camera would require at least 30 milliamps of current, at a voltage of at least 1.8V. You have to have someplace to put that battery. It doesn’t need much room, but more than is shown in this case.
