Public University May Have Violated Election Law By Offering Credit for Obama Internship

The academic world is famously in the tank for President Barack Obama. Some of the President’s largest donors are universities. The President himself is a former university professor. Academics are thick on the ground in his administration. There’s little point in denying that this administration is chummy with academia.

And as long as that chumminess stays firmly private, and not subsidized by taxpayer dollars, it has every right to persist. Unfortunately, in this case, such a subsidy is arguably in place.

Campus Reform reports that Addams State University, in Colorado, recently found itself on the wrong end of a state law prohibiting public resources on behalf of partisan campaigns. Why? We’ll let them tell it:

Adams State University posted the opportunity late last week on its website stating: “The Obama Campaign Internship (GOVT 279 Presidential Election Internship) will be a 12 week long organizing internship for the Obama Campaign.”

No similar offer was made for students to participate on the presidential campaign for Mitt Romney, who is the Republican nominee for the White House.

Julie Waecter, Assistant to the president for communications at Adams State, told Campus Reform on Tuesday that while the public university did offer the credit no public resources were deployed towards that end.

“No state funds are being used to pay for students working on the campaign,” she said.

She added that the school had decided to cancel the offer.

To obtain school credit, individuals would have been required to volunteer for the Obama campaign for at least 15 hours each week and attend an all-day training session on September 20th.

Campus Reform also brings us these screengrabs of the university’s announcement of this “course” before and after the scandal. Before:

And this stupidity is coming from a place of intellectual learning? I had a couple of these kind of useless classes when I was in college, but this is a much higher level of wasted time!

Dear US Sen Charles Schumer and
Chief of Staff Michael Lynch and Press Secretary Brian Fallon

I am asking the Office of US Senator Charles Schumer to formally investigate
Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s Political Actions under its non profit status.
MNN’s Channel 34 has been designated Totally pro National Democratic Committee
Anti Republican shows such as Democracy Now receive resources and compensation
that other shows that have no political agenda receive.

With regards to Manhattan Neighborhood Networks directing resources to the NDC,
Director Dan Coughlin and Jennette Santiage, Programming permit shows like
Democracy Now to take other shows time slots to air anti Republican views
for free and without pay by unions and politicians.
The Board of MNN are affiliates of CUNY or Unions.

      These actions by a non-profit are non-permissible.
Nor are producers allowed to book studios when MNN needs them
      for political agenda tv shows.

      For your information,
I am the attorney who Judge Sotomayor called a “miserable ***” on the bench on September 11, 2006 while I was defending black and latino and american indian children who had their grades tampered with by Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg.
Judge Sotomayor’s statements were recorded and when I told her about the
recorded statements, Sotomayor recused herself .
The recorded statements demonstrated the 2nd Circuit judges were wired to
the back room chambers and fixing cases.

During this administration, the rule of law at both the state and federal level have been raped and molested in broad daylight in a packed public forum and nobody is held accountable. Election law violation? Immigration law violation? Voter intimidation? Felony gun running and contempt of congress? Disclosure of sensitive classified information? The law means nothing if it is not equally applied and enforced. Don’t like the law? Take action to change it, but obey it until then! It was complete breakdown and disregard for the law that sealed the fate of the Roman Empire. When the law is abused by our leaders without accountability, the people see this and will rightfully suspect that the abusers have set themselves above the law and the people. Because the President believes in selective enforcement of the law and his AG blatantly obstructed investigations into the Fast & Furious operation, voter intimidation, and interfering with states rights to maintain integrity of voting laws, we the people have a right to demand accountability to determine if the law has been broken. Where the heck is the “most transparent administration” Obama promised? We got the polar opposite. He runs the nation in the same way of a corrupt third world nation. I guess that his goal is to prove to the world that we are no better than they are.

Homework: Who will Obama pardon or commute the sentence of in his last days? All of his Chicago buddies that are in prison? Hmmmm….

At least they were sandwiches, people are hungry, plus I doubt the people were asked who they would vote for. Nice of them to pay for the inconvenience of the public having to wait longer for their food at a local sandwich shop.
Obama buys beer and food for people at the places of business as well. If they buy them food for a vote I would be upset, food with no preconditions is just being nice.

I believe that charity starts with the individual. We set a bad precedent when we attack the act of individual charity yet encourage dependance on the government and is an overt attempt to control and subjugate a free people. I cannot legally share my self prepared sandwich with a hungry homeless person, yet the law is fine with that same homeless person pulling my rotten uneaten portion from the garbage two days later (just an example. I eat all of my food and have a belly to prove it).

As usual, when Liberals do this kind of thing, they are excused once they offer an apology. Liberals learned a long time ago that it’s easier to get forgiveness then it is to get permission. That is why they do the dishonest and unethical things that they do.

When is the last time you heard of a liberal institution actually being fined or disciplined for violating any rule.

I have the solution===Call Holder and the DOJ.
People just don’t read enough. The little guy started with courts, his own justice dept., school kids wearing brown shirts, riots against classes of people and the enabling act of 1933 dissolving the Congress because of unrest. On and On. Don‘t laugh and I’m not seeing black heliocopters I just beleive history does repeat itself only just a little variation on the same ol’ thing. Power to the people? That’s a joke with this ruler…. “create a crisis atmosphere that would make the law seem necessary to restore order. On February 27, 1933…These kids are the same kind of indoctrinated dupes that have always been around.
Muslim Imans here in America have already stated that with 7 or 8 million the Muslims could take over this country. There’s over 7 million estimate with a top government biased in their favor.
    Call the DOJ LOL!

I don’t understand why everyone is so upset over this. Colleges allow credit for political interships all the time. I’m going to a public college, with an extremely liberal political science department that helped work it out so that I could earn credit for interning with Romney’s campaign. Should that be illegal? I’m still paying for the credit hours.

That’s easy – because they would have had to offer the same deal for someone to work on the Romney campaign. That would make it a level playing field, which is one thing the left does NOT want.

Definitely, Snow- “…And as long as that chumminess stays firmly private, and not subsidized by taxpayer dollars, it has every right to persist…” every college that receives any public funding should not be allowed to give money to any campaign for any reason whatever. Nor should they be allowed to pic and choose what is taught as fact or fiction.
