‘Pure Racism’: Signs Depicting Obama as Crying Baby in Diaper Has Neighbors, Councilwoman Upset

New Orleans residents protested in front of a local man’s house Wednesday after he put up several signs in his yard depicting President Barack Obama as a puppet and a crying baby in a diaper, with one city council member even trying to determine whether the signs can forcibly removed.
In one sign, under the words “It’s Not My Fault,“ Obama wears a diaper and has speech bubbles coming from his mouth that read ”change me“ and ”I stink.” Another depicts him as billionaire George Soros’ puppet, standing behind a podium that reads “Seal of the Teleprompter of the United States.”

City Council Member Susan Guidry told New Orleans’ WWL-TV she’s concerned about public safety and is trying to figure out if the signs are even legal.
“We have to determine that there is a zoning law that prohibits perhaps the size of the sign, perhaps the way that it’s erected, that it is leaning over onto public property,” Guidry said. “Whatever we can use, we will, but of course, we do have to balance that with First Amendment rights.”
WWL-TV spoke to several locals about the signs:
“It disrespects the nation — and President Barack Obama represents our nation,” said Skip Alexander, as he looked at one of the signs. “He represents everybody, not some people.”
Dozens of protesters came by the house in the 1500 block of Calhoun throughout the day, demanding the sign come down.
“He wouldn’t do that to [President] Bush, I’m sure. It’s just insulting. It’s insulting,” said C.C. Campbell-Rock. “He’s going to have to take them down.”
“This is nothing put pure racism,” said Raymond Rock. “This is a disgrace.”

According to WWL-TV, the home is owned by Timothy Reily, who declined to speak to the station. Neighbors said he’s been putting up signs for months, but only received attention after a local radio station talked about them on the air Wednesday morning.
“He can put up a sign if he wants to. It doesn’t bother me,” said Harold Gagnet, a neighbor.
“I think it’s fine. It’s on his property,” said Katherine deMontluzin. “He can say whatever he wants.”
The station reported former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin showed up at the house during the protest and went inside to speak with Reily. He emerged later and would not comment on what was discussed.

With no offense to anyone who has that type of a nose, Soros actually does have the type of nose that some refer to as a hook nose. And it’s not exaggerated in this depiction. Use some graphics tools to compare this depiction to a real picture of Soros and I think you‘ll find it’s fairly accurate proportionately. Was the guy supposed to give Soros a different shaped nose than he actually has?
The puppet master imagery undoubtedly originated with Beck’s puppet show on Fox News and is clearly not a distortion of the Soros/Obama relationship.

This is obviously the picture that the cartoon was made from. I lined the two faces up in Photoshop and they are almost identical Nose is exact. If I knew how to I would post the comparison. About the only difference is the double chin is bigger and the eyebrows are more raised. To imply that it is a greatly altered caricature to the point of being racist is more of a stretch than the differences in the picture itself. Feel free to disagree with what the guy says but you’re giving him too much credit for being sinister. Read the signs. I think he‘s pretty straightforward in what he’s trying to say.

Holding the moral high ground is all well and good, but not if you get knifed in the back on the climb to that vaunted position. At that point, it’s not the moral highground, it is your gravesite.
Same thing applies here. Yes, we can keep ourselves looking clean and pristine, but it won‘t matter if we don’t get the message out. We have to hit them hard with facts, hit them dirty with truths, beat them furiously about the neck and shoulders with their own lies on a stick. Trust me on the last point, you’ll need a big stick to inscribe all their lies and distortions on; I recommend mahogany for this purpose.
The days of keeping it clean are done. We’ve had our arses handed to us for six decades by playing nice. No more.

Reminds me of a tagline used by of an old freeper known as Al Gator: “Refusal to stoop to your enemy’s level, only gets you cut off at the knees.”
This flies in the face of those who really think non-violence is best course of action. God bless them. They are the ones who stood in the center of the arena and were devoured by lions. Their courage is impressive.

Its an old tune, but then again, so am I.
