Rachel Maddow‘s ’Embarrassing’ Segment Takes Shot at Megyn Kelly

MSNBC must like superlatives.
Former host Keith Olbermann used to have a segment called “World’s Worst.” Now Rachel Maddow is trying to pump life into a new segment she’s calling, “What’s More Embarrassing?”
The premise is pretty simple: Maddow lists three news stories and asks, “What’s more embarrassing?” Viewers then text their vote. So how exactly does one get this segment off the ground? By taking a swipe at one of Fox News’s most successful anchors, Megyn Kelly.
Maddow decided to list Kelly as the number three story of the day for a tweet Kelly sent out advertising her “Kelly’s Court” segment on Kelly’s own show. The tweet was about a recent story where a man beat a woman into a coma over a parking space: “A man beats a 100 pound woman into a coma over a parking space. He claims she deserves it. Could he be right? In Kelly’s Court!” Kelly, a lawyer, then “ruled” on the story. The woman “won.”
Still, that was just so absolutely, ridiculously, grotesquely, embarrassing according to Maddow:
The interesting part that Maddow failed to report on is that Kelly’s tweet was actually quite appropriate considering the content of the segment. In it, Kelly revealed that the man is claiming self-defense after he says he was hit first. Being a fair journalist, Kelly wanted to look at both sides. And yes, she’s also a shrewd Twitter marketer.
Those points, however, were lost to Maddow’s audience. It voted her tweet the most embarrassing story of the day:

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 8:04amI watched the Kelly’s segment on this issue. She had a guest representing each side of the issue and they discussed legal stategy. Not the best segment she has ever done but pretty informative and fair. I also watched Maddow,s segment on Kelly.
Report Post »Kelly did a clear discussion of the issues associated with the incident from both perspectives. Maddow did some edited, out of context video of Megan speaking while Maddow made stupid faces at the camera. Talk about a light weight.
I do not normally like women comentators because they usually are just there as a sop to political correct politics but this woman is really sharp.
Maddow on the other hand is the typical smug leftist who is quite sure they are superior although their only evidence is their personal opinion.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 9:32pmEveryone is having fun trashing Maddow and making clever ad hominems off her name, but she does have more fortitude (“cajones”, it you like) than Beck because at least she’ll host an opposing view on her show. Beck hides behind his “facts” and his videos and transcripts of those he doesn’t agree with or attempts to disparage, but god forbid he actually debates someone with a dissenting viewpoint. With all his ready facts, one would think he would welcome a lively debate, but then again, it is easier to preach when no one is questioning you.
My comment would be the same for Megyn Kelly, also; the “bigger cajones than Beck” part, since she’ll not back down from an opposing view, either. Beck is one of the few pundits that relishes the one sided argument.

Of course it is already pretty ironic that the Rhodes organization would applaud Maddow’s copybook leftist, post structural thinking when the Rhodes family historically represents the worst of Fascism and colonialism.
Seriously, the Rhodes fellowships are known for being all about who you know (or, failing that what diversity quotient you’ll fill) and very little about what you know. I have no doubt that Ms Maddow is very intelligent, but unfortunately her intelligence has been confined to the narrow hallways of the ivory towers. Perhaps you missed the subtle point that her doing so was making? By placing it into question, she’s actually demonstrating that there really are no justifiable scenarios (outside of extremes, such as the woman is shooting school kids with an AK-47 or whatever). Given as this thug *was* saying that there was a reason to beat this woman into a pulp, Megyn was actually taking him to task and making him look like the fool that he is. Get it?

Well, you didn’t append that, so the correction was required to keep this in perspective. Never is a strong word, let’s not cheapen it by making it meaningless.
“And you go on to attack all universities, ”
Incorrect. I attacked the notion that credentials naturally lend credence to one’s opinion. That’s a fallacy called the Argument from Authority. A person can have a PhD. in psychology, but that doesn’t mean that his opinions on spinach are worth any more than anybody elses. To cite the credentials of Maddow as some kind of defense of her silliness is absurd, they simply do not apply. Additionally, there is a lot to say against credentials in modern academia. While they may or may not mean something to the person that receives them, they are give out like candy these days which makes the credentials (not the education nor the universities, which you mistakenly assumed) nearly worthless.

Hmmm not sure what “ilk” I am? Middle aged? Middle class? Multiple degrees? Multiple careers? White? Female? which “ilk” do you mean?
How do I know about the Rhodes Fellowships? Because I researched all fellowships I for which I was qualified when I entered grad school. I saw what they valued and the calibre of those who were awarded money through Rhodes. I wasn’t terribly impressed.
How do I know about the Rhodes family? In one of my many previous lives I was a diamond appraiser. Anyone who has any education about diamonds knows about the Rhodes family.
Where do you get your information?
Oh, and BTW. Take a closer look at my screen name. You’ve misspelled it.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 11:30amWhy attack Rachel Maddow for being gay or unattractive. Both maybe true, but that’s skirting around the issue. MSNBC was created as a liberal response to FOX NEWS. It’s sole purpose is to respond to anything FOX NEWS puts out. I hate to play the devil’s advocate since I think Megyn Kelly is far more intelligent than Rachel Maddow but in this case she could have worded her segment better than she did.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 11:38amMadcow is unfortunatly, a favorite among the koolaid drinkers. The scary part of this story is how mindless her viewers are, voting solely on the fact that she is a FOXnews anchor and not context at all. Contrast that to O‘Reilly’s Pinhead or Patriot where even liberal loons can get a patriot vote when they step up and do the right thing.
Liberals are angry, so very very angry, they hate themselves, hate the world, and want to control it so that they can finally get their way. I just like conservatives better, they are so much easier to be around.

Oh also; Rachel also stated she had 12,000 people that chose Megyn’s as the Winner of the contest! 12,000 people is not alot, I guess she hasn’t looked at the numbers watching her! Posted on March 9, 2011 at 12:54pmThe zombies that watch that show would have voted Kelly most embarrassing no matter what she had said. She is reviled by them because she is from Fox and thus speaks the truth. MSNBC has really lowered the bar (even for them!) on broadcasting, if this type of tripe they air. This is the best they can do? Be sure to shut off the lights when you leave, Maddow.

SO! She still got duped. Why because liberals are so quick to believe the worst about anything and anyone that does not think lock step with them. And NO conservatives are not like that or democrats would be getting slaughtered all over the place at election times. The conservatives in my opinion are to wishy washy. Too afraid of what people think of them. I‘ll say it again I don’t care how much education you have as long as it is not paired with common sense, something the liberals do not have.

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 2:17pmThanks so much for that stirring news story… MADCOW. Apparently, Madcow’s (MSNBC’s) only objective is to smear FOX news and its headliners with anything that their emotionally, uninformed audience might possibly care to digest. Most of which – case in point – is garbage. It‘s amazing they’re still viable.
