‘Racist’ Cupcake Furor: Beck Tells Conservative Berkeley Student ‘I Love You’ During Skype Interview

Yesterday, Glenn Beck hosted Shawn Lewis, president of Berkeley’s College Republicans, on GBTV via Skype to talk about the ruckus he and the group has caused on UC Berkeley’s campus with its diversity bake sale.
The “Increase Diversity Bake Sale,” according to an earlier Blaze article, is meant to satirize a bill that would allow the university to consider ethnicity on admissions. Cupcakes were sold on a scaled pricing system according to race, which quickly spurred protests over being “racist.” To which Lewis responded, “you’re right, and that’s the point.”
On the show, Beck was so overwhelmed by bake sale genius, he hugged the screen and told Lewis “I think I love you. I think you are one of the greatest men ever to live.”

Lewis said the student government even called an emergency senate session where they discussed defunding the group for “creating an uncomfortable college climate.” But he’s not discouraged by this. He knows his rights and says that if it weren’t for the extreme outrage, the bake sale would have gone largely unnoticed.

As it stands now there are so many tribal factions right now fighting each other, with nearly everyone hysterically screeching racism, the country is at a point that is beyond repair.
Homogeneous nations are nearly always inherently united under one language, one culture, one history, one mindset. Empires like the US, and fractious nations like Europe, are multicultural and all of them are unstable and divided, because of the absence of commonality. The tribes don’t trust one another and there are hard core groups who despise their adopted country.
Homogeneous societies usually band together during hard times and, because of their unity and cooperation with each other, survive the hard times.
Multicultural societies never band together and are split up into contentious tribal fragments who do not trust each other and constantly bicker and fight over one matter or another. Just being a non-tribal member in another tribe’s area is often grounds for a beating and/or killing. It’s happening right now in Calif.
Does anybody think they would not be set upon and beaten because they are a white in a black neighborhood in most urban areas?
LIke so many of the radical, airhead leftist policies AA is dividing the racial tribes further apart.
The situation is getting worse and will erupt into CWII at some point during the economy’s decline to the bottom.

The term racist doesn’t describe someone who views certain human races as superior to others; it describes someone who thinks that there are definable races among the human species. There are certainly nationalities, which are constructs of man i.e. Kenyan, Jewish, Chinese, but these are all varying shades of latitudinal ancestry.

In AA, the employer is making up for social imbalances in educational, financial, and cultural privileges so as to allow the people from the southern and indigenous worlds a chance to catch up with western society and its long history of subjective exclusion. This bake sale only reminds us of historical oppression while arguing that the continuation of such oppression is the natural way of a free market.

The Diversity Czar needs to reach out to these people as they are clearly disenfranchised. He’s highly intelligent with a wicked sense of humor that allows him to respond quickly, yet without deprecation. The point he made about his own background — the child of a single mother who makes below the poverty level — was the perfect foil to the assumption that white kids have it easy. This kid made it into Berkeley because he WORKED HARD to get in there.

Berkeley is known to be one of the most — if not THE most — liberal campuses in America. This kid not only stood up to the taunts from liberal classmates, he has challenged the college’s board. Very few youngsters have the chutzpah to do that — which is why so few Conservative kids actually speak out.
That deserves respect and applause. I’m glad Glenn has put a halogen spotlight on him. Hopefully, it will give other college students some much-needed encouragement!
