JERUSALEM (The Blaze/AP) — Vandals torched a mosque in an Arab village in northern Israel early Monday, setting off protests and clashes with police. Graffiti spray-painted on the mosque’s walls suggested Jewish radicals were involved.
According to CNN, “Kamal Khatib of the Islamic Movement in Israel said the mosque attack points to the fact that ‘Jewish hands’ were behind the attack.”
About 200 residents of the village of Tuba-Zangria, Arab citizens of Israel, marched to a major intersection nearby with the intention of blocking the road in protest, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. Some of the demonstrators set tires on fire and threw stones at police officers, who dispersed the crowd with tear gas, Rosenfeld said. No one was injured.
Police were mobilized in the area to prevent further disturbances and were meeting with village leaders in an effort to defuse tensions, he added. No unrest was reported inside the village.
Rosenfeld said a carpet was burned inside the mosque and interior walls were damaged. Copies of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, were also burned, Israeli media reported.
Rosenfeld said the words “price tag” were spray painted on the building – reference to a settler practice of attacking Palestinians and their property in retaliation for Palestinian attacks and government operations against settlements. Reuters has more:
“The whole mosque was burned — the carpet, the books, the Korans, all burned,” the village imam, Fuad Zangariya, told Army Radio. Zanagariya said the words “Palmer” and “revenge” were sprayed on the entrance to the mosque.
Several weeks ago the government destroyed unauthorized structures in an unauthorized Jewish settlement outpost in the West Bank, and the operation that was followed immediately by another mosque torching.
Army Radio reported that the family name of a settler and his infant son killed last week in a car crash near the West Bank town of Hebron was also scrawled on a wall. Israeli police have said Palestinian rock-throwers struck the man in the head, causing him to lose control of the car.
Rosenfeld said security was heightened across northern Israel following the attack. A large concentration of Israeli Arabs lives in northern Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the mosque attack, and ordered the Shin Bet internal security agency to act quickly to locate the assailants. A text message from his office said he “was fuming when he saw the pictures.”
According to Netanyahu’s office, he said, ”The images are shocking and do not belong in the state of Israel.” He continued, ”This is an act which is against the values of the state of Israel, which places supreme importance on freedom of religion and freedom of worship.”
Most “price tag” actions are carried out in the West Bank, and attacks on mosques inside Israel are more rare. This particular village is near Safed, where a rabbi urged followers last year not to rent or sell homes to Arabs, who account for one-fifth of Israel’s population of some 7.6 million.

Posted on October 6, 2011 at 11:33amForgive me, gents, but I don‘t think you’ve got a consistent standard of judgment here (@BigLipNadder, Rached, Noczars and DevelDog). I’m assuming, were a synagogue burned and left to rot with Arabic graffiti written on the walls, you wouldn’t be blaming it on a Shin Bet False Flag operation. Israelis can, believe it or not, do bad things, too.
To paraphrase Freud, “sometimes a Mosque-torching is just a Mosque-torching.” There doesn’t have to be a darker, sinister hand behind it…except, of course, for the basic evil of human nature.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 11:46pmThere is no question that this was done by the muslims to add gasoline to the fire. Next they will be blowing up their own neighborhoods and blaming the Israelis.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 4:36pmI’m afraid you are copying the biased reporting from other sources. Migron wasn’t exactly “an unauthorized settler outpost”, and the murder of a father and son by Palestinian rock-throwers was reported right here is a much batter fashion.
Chief Rabbi Amar and leaders of several faiths visited to condemn the destruction. At this point, of course, we don’t know who did it.

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 3:37pmRadical or Racial, this looks more like an attack of race or religion. It doesn’t matter what religion you are, we can’t stand for this in our country or others, though it is their affair not ours.
In America we have just as many of these problems if not more.
Question: Why should someone on ‘The View’ get mad at Barbara Walters when she uses the N-Word but not when Whoopi says the same word? http://www.americanparchment.com/video/2011/oct/view_nword_barbara.html This sounds like a double standard, lets all just not use the word or remember that it is just a word, you pick…

Posted on October 3, 2011 at 3:33pmSoros has a well funded campaign to destroy Netanyahu and Israel. First the FOUR stood with him for negotiations but…Did you also notice how the tent cities (protestors in Israel) are folding up now that he was manipulated to allow more settlements. Ooops! Now the WHOLE world once again pounces on him as the aggressor? Aside from that, the man Palmer was not just struck with a rock making him lose control. His skull was crushed by the rock, that’s why the car was out of control. That being the case it had to be quite a LARGE rock. In the beginning they tried to say it was just an accident. An accident like the other car targeted with the baby girl who was wounded. The ‘Palestinians’ never stop their aggression, something that was supposed to be mitigated under the Oslo Accords but never happened.
