Radio talk show host George Noory — host of Coast to Coast — had his vacation plans unexpectedly changed into escape plans when the limousine he was supposed to be taking ended up being driven by a would-be kidnapper. Here‘s the segment from Noory’s show explaining the incident:
The incident, Noory says, began when a limousine style van picked him up at the airport, purporting to be his transportation to his hotel. On the way, Noory noticed that the van was taking him through a less-than-savory area of Mexico and that the driver was behaving oddly. When Noory tried to exit the van, the door handle broke off in his hand. Only through a real stroke of luck was he able to get away by hailing another car and paying the driver $100 in cash.
Noory’s ordeal has been described by law enforcement officials as an “express kidnapping,” meaning a kidnapping where someone is picked up by a van and driven around to various ATMs, where they are forced to empty their bank accounts at gun point. It is also unusual that tourists suffer this sort of treatment immediately at the airport, as a guest on Noory’s show explained that the town he was vacationing in had probably the best security regimen possible around its airport:
Noory, however, says he learned his lesson from the experience.
“I‘m gonna stay in the good ol’ United States for a long, long time,” he said on his show.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 9:31pmYeah, I read the headline and thought, kidnapped by who, like aliens? Imagine the shows he could have hosted after they brought him back after that….

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 9:30pmUnless anybody would like to be ransom ticket for Mexican drug cartels, or found years later in a mass grave, I’d advise Americans to stay out of Mexico. Our own government reported about two years ago, i na report, that it’s on the verge of collapse.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 5:41pmYou would think someone who makes a living off conspiracies, paranormal, and unexplained mysteries would know better than vacation in Mexico.
Report Post »jhrusky
Posted on March 9, 2012 at 2:56pmWhy? What does being interested in the paranormal have to do with where one wants to vacation? Mexico has some beautiful beaches, resorts, and archaeology and I don’t see any relevance as to it being for or not for someone interested in the paranormal.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 5:33pmGo to ‘borderlandbeat’ and check out the gruesome execution videos. They’re far worse than you can imagine. These guys are worse than Caligula. We now officially have a narco-state on our porous southern border. They’re in Phoenix and El Paso. SEAL teams are a hop skip and a jump away in San Diego. Let’s give them some trigger time.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 5:02pmThis actually happened a while ago – but it’s true that Mexico is very dangerous. You should read the comments from these naive idiots who comment about such stories on the USAT website. There’s “gee, the USA is just as dangerous.” And, “our government and the media are hyping these stories.” Finally, my personal favorite: “I went to Mexico and nothing happened to me, so it’s perfectly safe.”
It’s breathtaking to see just how many stupid people we have in this country, By the way, if you’re looking at crime rates, Mexico has more kidnappings per capita than Colombia and is approaching Venezuela. The latter two still have higher rates of homicide, but Mexico is catching up fast. The most dangerous parts of Mexico are in the northern half of the country, Acapulco and (to a lesser extent) Mexico City.
Far safer than Mexico are Panama, Costa Rica and the northern half of the Dominican Republic (where most of the resorts are). Chile has a lower crime rate than the US (by quite a bit) and is the safest country in Latin America. Been to ‘em all, which is why I comment…… ;)

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 4:59pmGlad he is OK. Just another example of how ineffective the Mexican government is in protecting tourists, and their own people.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 5:27pmThe Mexican government is not ineffective . . . I was personally taken for cash by none other than the police in Playa Del Carmen. Corruption rules in Mexico, and the Mexican police are very effective at it . . . even in the resort communities.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 4:48pmThe cartels that run Mexico are a lot worse than any terrorist organizations, that we have given up so much freedom for. Yet they operate all over this country, and come and go as they please. The things these monsters do to people make Al-qaeda look like amateurs. You won’t hear about the stories of these cartels chopping up american girls while they are still alive, because they refuse to become sex slaves. No that would be politically incorrect. You also won’t hear one of the top members of the Zetas admitting that until recently most of their guns came from the U.S. government. That would be racist to report such things.

Report Post »George – why are there so, so many UFO reports in Mexico? Do the aliens prefer Spanish or tacos?
And did you see a Sasquatch driving a cab? or was that Elvis, I get them confused.

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 4:40pmWell, how long does it take to learn to stay out of Mexico. I live in El Paso and you could not get me into Juarez, Mexico. In the past I would shop and eat there. Now, the Mexican police have to stay in hotels or with relatives because they were being killed one a day at their homes by the cartel. Need I saw more?

Posted on March 8, 2012 at 4:35pmI was in Mexico in 08 with my family, Cancun to be exact, on a cruiseship and my numbnut brother in law had this stupid idea to take a tour of the island & visit some bar called “Carlos & Charlies” in a taxi van. I never felt so vulnerable in all my life, no weapons, & all of us had a pocket full of $$. We were prime candidates for robbery or a massacre. I would never do that ever again much less even go to Mexico..That was the first civilain cruise I‘d ever taken aside from hitching rides on the Navy LPH’s or LHA’s/LST ships. I had a good time on that cruiseliner but not in that rathole Mexico
