Rand Paul Fires Back: Trump‘s Chances in 2012 are ’Less Than My Father‘s’

Rand Paul Fires Back: Trumps Chances in 2012 are Less Than My Fathers

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

After America’s most famous businessman, Donald Trump, took to the CPAC stage Thursday and declared Rep. Ron Paul potential 2012 presidential campaign DOA, the Texas Republican’s son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, fired back.

In an interview with CNN, the younger Paul stood up for his dad and said Trump will regret taking a swipe at his old man.  “I think it was probably a mistake for him to say in that crowd,” Paul joked, noting that the CPAC crowd often boasts a large Ron Paul base of supporters.

When asked by CNN about Trump’s chances of winning in 2012, Sen. Paul said he considered making a joke about that topic during his own CPAC remarks, but decided to take the high road.  When pressed, Paul smiled and said that Trump’s “chances are less than my father’s.”

During his brief remarks before the conservative political action group Thursday, Paul encouraged the tea party to continue protecting the Constitution and jokingly pointed to some government programs as unnecessary, including the “Energy Star” program which approved an “air freshener” that consisted of an oscillating fan with an attached feather duster, and a gasoline-powered alarm clock that promised to reduce electricity usage — both of which he claimed received the “Energy Star” seal of approval.

I‘d say Trump’s chances are slim, Paul’s chances are none.

At least Trump has a little respect as a businessman. Ron Paul is just a nutcase.

Sad but true, Donald Trump is right. We saw the last election Ron Paul could not get elected, why has this come as a shock, I would have voted for Paul, I think he is great, so does Trump and he said so,. Don’t hate him because he is arrogant with the truth, the truth is not always pretty and not always welcomed. Donald Trump is the Most qaulified to help our country in time of need. I like Ron and his son but you can’t argue with facts, only the way they are presented……………..‘THE DONALD 2012’…….he is just as arrogant as Obama but it’s for the right cause………..

I like Trump but he is going to have to do better than that. Hillary said Obama couldnt get win. Now she works for him. Trump needs to understand this is not a Rosie O’donnel thing on ET. Instead of being a bull in a China closet (intentional) he needs to learn to be more statesman like. It’s more complicated than just being agressive. It’s more like, uh….running a very large country and walking on egg shells at the same time.

Rand Paul is one senator that went to Washington for the right reasons and I do not think they will be able to co-op him. Donald Trump is a great businessman and is definitely a no nonsense kind of guy. If he were the Republican nominee I would vote for him, but I feel that Donald is all about Donald and I think we the American people can do much better. You can say what you want about Mitt Romney but what really attracts me to him is I feel that he is very much like Rand Paul and is seeking the Presidency for all of the right reasons and has great business sense and more importantly I feel would be by far the most qualified and competent at solving our nations biggest problems and be able to do the best at working through all of the political obstacles and get the most accomplished of anyone else I see on the scenes. I could really go for a Romney/Ron Paul or Romney/Cain, Palin, Bachmann, Christy etc. I really think with what we are facing he has the potential of becoming an even more effective President than Ronald Reagan and as much as I revere Reagan with Romney it could be very long lasting corrections which Reagan though very effective did not trim the Government no where near enough.

with Romney it could be very long lasting corrections which Reagan though very effective did not trim the Government no where near enough.”……….
I agree with most of your contenders, but think Palin is out, not because she isn’t worthy, but because the Pro‘s would make it about her being ’dangerous’ and other nonsense like that. I actually would like her as Pres. However, voters don’t need to be lead off-course by crazy talking points. Remember, the non-informed make up a large segment of the Left’s voting block, and, though they’ll mobilize against whoever runs from the Right, they have/will Deamonize her to the point where the sheep will follow. We have to be pragmatic here. Cain and West are interesting. On the surface, I like them very much. Maybe someone can tell me if Cain joined the CBC. I know West did, and that is a red flag for me. He needs to explain to me why he’d join what amounts to a race-based group. There is a possibility that the left could infiltrate the Republican Party to start a cancer. Don’t doubt that possibility. I’m skeptical of West, and if Cain is in the CBC, him, too.

They sure sound more supportable than McCain Palin, everyone I knew held their noses and voted for Palin in hopes McCain would listen to her sometimes. At least with Paul/Bachman you’ve got two “Real Thing” Candidates not something made in “HollyWood” or even “Manchuria”

I hope we are not seeing the beginning of a trend here. We do not need to see conservatives quarreling amongst themselves. If we are going to beat Obama and his crowd in 2012 we need to unite behind a strong leader and work together. I don’t think Paul or Trump is the leader we need. But I know that they both have excellent ideas to offer. Our future leader has yet to emerge, but when he does I think he will be a black man and his name will be Cain or West. Trust me. These are two good men!

Ronald Rump is a RINO with mixings of pure ultra conservative, far far right ideas. I am sure hes pro choice, he will be a control freak and would try to run the government like a business (probably a big one). He will however bring a good and wacky debate to the table and maybe force some of these so called conservatives to one up him on some conservative thoughts he might have.

Would I vote for him? Only if I wanted to see Bozo the Clown as my President…

They have almost the identical same message yet Rand is able to communicate it with less passion… You guys know what I mean. You can’t appear hysterical in politics in America in 2012. Although Ron is right on almost every issue and he has my vote he turns many off by his over the top passion on the issues.

Rand Paul is a great guy and I think he will do great for my home state of KY. His dad Ron is a great guy as well. I am not sure that Rand could get elected either. If Donald Trump was to be the GOP person against Obama, I’d vote for him. Having said that, I am not sure he would make it that far. I do however think we need someone like a Donald Trump to make this country profitable again. Just don’t know who that is right now.

Rand…you are wrong. I’m not a Trump fan, but Libertarians are beginning to get on my nerves. They are not fit for the Presidency and will NEVER be elected. They are good for the congress and senate though.
I’m VERY conservative, but Libertarians are becoming a problem. I debated some at the very first Tea Party gathering in my area and they were simply unreasonable. They also told me Palin would never even think about running for President. I said, yes she will.

What exactly is wrong with Libertarianism except that they true real value on liberty not just artificial liberty that the majority of Conservatives think they support. Conservative Republicans only believe in liberty if it suits them. As long as your a god fearing Christian, you are free to follow the bible. Outside of that, you are all hell bound demons and don’t serve to be American!

      Yea, that’s freedom alright.

To answer your question, the Libertarian view on foreign affairs is irresponsible and unrealistic. Additionally, drugs and prostitution would be legalized if you guys had your way (among other depraved acts) that would ultimately destroy this country.

But I’m with you, it would be so nice to see, not only grown-ups in charge, but a compassionate and Respectable America once again. May God in His Mercy, give us the right leaders for these times.
