Rand Paul Reveals TSA Theory to Beck: Scanners Go Off to Justify ‘Random’ Patdowns

By now you’ve probably heard about the “standoff” that happened yesterday between Rand Paul and TSA in Nashville. But what you probably have not heard is Paul’s theory as to why it started in the first place. According to him, the TSA has programmed its scanners to randomly select people for patdowns, and they do this by having the scanners go off when there’s nothing that would legitimately set them off.

That’s what Paul told Glenn Beck on Tuesday during a radio interview. The Kentucky senator joined Beck to give his side of the story and, according to him, he’s been told by two individuals that the scanners are selecting passengers without cause.

He also gave a detailed account of what happened on Monday, including his conversation with TSA management. Listen to it all below (we’ll insert higher-quality video when it becomes available):

In the end, Paul called on airline passengers to refuse secondary patdowns if the scanner goes off and there’s no indication as to why. Instead, he encouraged travelers to request to go through the scanner again in hopes that the acts will send a message to TSA.

I am not sure it is so random. My husband gets put through the extras every time…..maybe it is his last name, or that he dresses nice or something. It is done too much to him for it to be random but I understand why Rand thinks this way as there was no need for the patdown or logical reason the scanner went off. Someone is programming it that way.

Someone is programming nnelG to stay away from these issues when he is discussing his candidate of choice’s positions when it comes to civil liberties.

Seems he does not want to press Santorum about his voting for the Patriot Act…now does he.

nnelG seems to think that bombing for Jesus is more important than the Bill of Rights.

The TRUTH lives with ME !!!! Screw the BLAZE. They are MSM.

In 1861 (fomally 1863) Lincoln declared a National Emergency and Martial Law. We are have been ever since with the exception of a few brief years under Clinton.

This Patriot Act and NDAA is just a way to “Declare” it, although we have been “under” it.

When the Southern States Original Congressional Representatives did not return to congress after the civil war, congress was declared ‘Sine die’ or ‘Without day’ and was suspended.
Well the Banksters and their Politician Minions placed “representatives” in the
empty seats and continued operations without the people’s knowledge of this.
Now the Banksters had even more influence in American Politics.

The banksters devised a Plan to take total control of America. here is how they did it:

In 1912 the U.S. was broke and turned to the Banksters. They Banksters created a Bank called the ‘Federal Reserve’ to be the Nation’s Bank.

In 1913 the Federal reserve act was passed. This was a loan.

In 1933 we defaulted and declared bankrupty.
The “Government” pledged our LAND, GOV’T and PEOPLE as collateral to the PRIVATE BANK !!!!

Social Security became law in 1936. This is a Interest bearing Bond (A security, duh) for the Receivers of the Bankruptcy to hold.

The UN now holds the Lien on America.

      Let Rand’s Uncle tell you:

When you think about it, what is your relationship to the federal government? Well, if you reside in Florida and fly, drive, or visit the Social Security office in Orlando, you are subject to unlawful search, menaced by fully armed tactical teams demonstrating “ tactical force protection operations” in a hostile environment, radiated in scanners and if you are really lucky, watch as your wife or perhaps your children are subjected to sexual assault by the TSA. The best part of it all is that virtually few in the Republican Party and only one of the republican candidates sees this as anything other than a clear and necessary relationship of citizen and government. This is another clear message for anyone that is willing to think through this whole process.

When will nnelG finally get around to demanding answers from the candidates regarding their positions on the Patriot Act, the NDAA, and the DHS/TSA?

I assume nnelG is a Beck Media but your point is well taken. He introduces Rand like Rand has such very different ideas and policies than his father. He does not. He’s more articulate than his dad and he plays along with the Media much better than his dad but his policies are almost identical.

Why is Beck being so crafty and to your point.. I’ve never heard Beck and his ilk asking any questions in regards to NDAA Patriot Act or DHS..

Should have heard Sean Hannity interviewing Rand Paul yest. Hannity almost sounded like one of the MSNBC stooges. I thought he was going to eventually get around to saying “Well if you don‘t have anything to hide then what’s the big deal??” Anyway, he couldn’t manipulate Rand like he does most of his audience.

Ok, so I hear the end of the interview and they pretend that Rand has a different foreign policy than his dad? lol I have heard him be a little more hawkish on occasion but I can assure you that we not support wasting 4 Trillion in the Middle East this past decade like the Neo-Cons, Beck, Hannity, FOX and their ilk condone.

What do we have to show for that 4 trillion Glenn? 4 Trillion well spent in your opinion? My Conservative friend? Ole buddy? Pal? Gold buyer? Worried about run away deficits? lol Like ole Joe

Right. I have a white female friend who frequently travels for work and at least half a dozen time she got called out for a pat AFTER the scan was CLEAN! It didn’t go off at all.
One excuse they used was she had “baggy pant legs”. Um, wouldn’t the SCANNER catch something in baggy pant legs?

Unfortunately, the US will never follow Israel when it comes to security because they use COMMON SENSE. When people buy airline tickets, backgrounds are checked…people are watched based on ethnicity (that terrible profiling!!). Another problem with TSA is that the state department puts WAAAAY too much power in the hands of pinheads. An example is my boyfriend. He’s an italian citizen and he owns a factory in Serbia. He follows the rules yet some JERK TSA agent said that he was coming to the US too much and that he didn’t have a JOB! When TSA was told he owned a factory and didn’t have to be there physically to oversee the operations, the TSA agent wrote on his passport that he wasn’t allowed to come back to the US for six months! There is NOTHING in the State Department website limiting the amount of times you come to the US, so this jerk was just trying to be more important that he really is.

I agree with you as does the record. Open the widow a bit, both the previous and the current holder of the office and their administrations did, are, and will continue to remove your liberties and change the dynamic between you and your elected and appointed government officials. In most aspects of your life, if you choose to interact with officials, you will find that you are somehow always treated as an ill- defined threat. I suggest all readers do a little civic exercise: go to your county or city courthouse – or the new term “justice center”. Watch and take in the whole scene. Observe a trial or court proceeding. See how the bailiffs and other armed guards treat the citizens in the courtroom not just the accused. It is an eye opening exercise in the psychology of the fascist state. In Lee County Florida, we are known for deputies abusing disabled wheelchair confined citizens that are detained or tazing to death a healthy detainee. What shocks is how the public, those uncharged nor suspected of any wrong doing are treated. When you really step back and view the whole thing a significant shift has occurred and not just at the airport.

It doesn’t inspire confidence in the machines if we find out that they are set up to purposely create false positives in order to send people to get pat downs. Of course if the public doesn’t know this, it makes the machines look extremely sensitive when people are being further inspected after “failing” the test, which can be seen as a good thing.

He also brought up a good point about the planes, the likelihood of another plane being used is much less than other less protected infrastructure. This is just a game of how many different ways of securing our country can be used and paid for before we realize how large of a waste it is.

Just consider this, how many people would do nothing and just sit in a plane if a small group of terrorists hijacked it? That in itself lowers the chance of another 9/11 by a great deal, more than these security measures ever could.

All the “take your shoes off” and “you can’t carry liquids” stuff is 100% reactive based on previous attempts and won’t help when the next terrorist tries to blow up a plane by, for example, swallowing a balloon or shoving something up his crack. The TSA has stopped exactly ZERO terrorism attempts – they have all been stopped by regular citizens. The security theater is *always* going to be at least one step behind, and are just wasting our time. Want safer flights? Let pilots and concealed carry holders carry handguns on planes again. If a pilot or passenger was carrying on 9/11, none of those planes would have crashed. Any time we “suspend” one of our god-given rights, it ends badly. Every single time. Our founding fathers were GENIUSES, even if they didn’t know it at the time. We need to follow their guidance.

The first fed agency to go should be the TSA – there are better ways to go for security like behavioral profiling which applies to everyone. Anyone acting within those guidelines needs a closer look that can be done without disrupting everyone else going thru the airports. General walk thru a metal scanner could continue for people entering the airports…after that behavior is the better indicator. Don’t need to be molesting children and little old ladies or anyone else for that matter.

I agree that the first agency that should go is the TSA. But it might be dangerous as the TSA, being government union employees would have to be offered positions with the new PSA (Profiling Security Agency). Being able to profile acurately requires a high level of intelligence and diplomacy, neither of which the TSA people have. Therefore, you would have the same idiots who are not capable of running a scanner properly, trying to guess which Granny, or child is a threat.

In one of the few times I would say this, we should outsource the “NEW” PSA to El Al and the Isralies and have the job done properly, the first time.

Just program in the “Devil’s Staircase” mathematical formula and the machine will alarm in a seemingly random manner. Sounds like an easy thing to do, but a harder thing to prove.

    4th Ammendment does not apply…
    Article 1 section 6 clause 1 does not apply…
Your Civil Rights do not apply…
Congrees should Immediately defund the TSA and Homeland Security for these violations of our rights alone. But we have a Congress full of people who do NOT even ubderstand the Constitution they swore to uphold!

Ron Paul 2012 to end the Unconstitutional BS!

When will nnelG finally get around to demanding answers from the candidates regarding their positions on the Patriot Act, the NDAA, and the DHS/TSA?

nnelG seems to understand that the Bill of Rights is being destroyed, and yet this is not front and center when he has an opportunity to out the candidates for the totalitarian Statists that they actually are…based on their votes and previous positions.

nnelG has it in for Ron Paul, and yet he is the ONLY candidate with a consistent and clear record on this issue.

Let me ask you nnelG…what good is a foreign policy if the candidate you actually back is full bore against the Bill of Rights?

      Call me….

Ron Paul 2012…or bend over for the NWO’s Police state.

Freedom…It’s a sad fact that the people like Glenn want Liberty but deny Liberty with their stupid choices in Candidates because they refuse to follow the Constitutional way. All the while saying they love the Constitution. If they love the Constitution and what this nation was founded on they could not support ANYONE but Ron paul…

Instead they call him crazy, dangerous, a nutjob and a kook…To me they spit in the face of our Founders when they do that. They are eaten up with ignorance of the Constitution. But they think they know it. They do not. Glenn and Pat are as touchy feely as they come…Makes me want to puke,

      @Baddoggy

I like Rand Paul. But who is touchy feely?
It was Ron Paul who was basking in the warm reception of the liberal David Letterman show claiming that Michele Bachmann hates Muslims.

Michele had that one coming, for her extreme denigration of Ron Paul in the debate the night before. She was the one who opened the door to the exchange, and it was clear Ron Paul’s comment was in jest…it was a comedy appearance. But as such it did have an element of truth. If you want to go to war with a whole nation of people due to their tyrannical government. It is an issue that is overly sensitive to weak individuals who esteem their “intelligence reports” and are impressed, without firm convictions on national constitutional and founding foreign policy

Within hours of the 9/11 attacks, it was no longer possible for terrorists to commandeer airplanes & fly them into buildings. The passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 proved that. Nevertheless, in its usual “wisdom,” our government determined that we needed the TSA to keep us safe. It should surprise nobody that the inept, corrupt & mostly useless TSA has become more & more over-reaching & bloated.in typical bureaucratic fashion.

EXACTLY! No terrorist will ever, EVER be able to hijack an airplane ever again. EVER. We don’t need the TSA AT ALL.

Heck, they might as well have a big basket of loaded guns at the terminal for anyone who wants one. We’d be a helluva lot safer.

Beck has a combination of the fears instilled in him from both the Cold War and the War on Terror. The War on Terror is creating the extreme feeling of need for security while the Cold War is creating the paranoia that we shouldn’t have diplomatic conversations with countries and that we need to intervene instead if there are any sense of potential threats against the country. I mean, it explains Cuba, where Fidel has basically given up, has even been somewhat open to capitalism, and a little conversation may make great improvements in our relations. Instead, we’re stuck thinking that Iran and other countries will put missiles in Cuba and so we need to be tough on Cuba.

Fidel was definitely not the best leader, and not the greatest man, but if you actually could get him to put an end to the dictatorship and return it to a fair and free election, you’d make amazing strides to a good relationship. But, it’s a lot easier just to label someone as evil and refuse to actually have a dialog with them.

No surprises revealed here. The real story is what are the true American patriots going to do about this encroachment on the freedoms that our forefathers fought and died for!

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy. – James Madison (1751-1836)

God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it. – Daniel Webster (1834)
