Rand Paul Talks to Glenn After CNN Ambush: I Don‘t Want ’Weimar Republic‘ in ’Our Country’

In the aftermath of a hostile, condescending interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, Senator Rand Paul came on Glenn’s radio show to discuss the debt deal, deficits, international affairs and the sobering prospect of hyperinflation hitting America.
Glenn called the interview with Don Lemon “an embarrassment for CNN.” Senator Paul shrugged it off, however, and quickly turned to the substance of the budget deal, telling Glenn that what had been achieved in the Capitol was merely a deal, not a solution.
Sen. Paul rejected the media’s portrayal of the debt ceiling as solely a political horserace saying, “they misunderstand winners and losers…I‘m more concerned about this country’s future.” The Senator then made the unsettling prognostication that “we are going to default by paying with dollars that are worth less and less every day.”
Glenn pointed out that “we are in the weimar trap,” and Paul agreed, pointing out that gas prices have doubled in a two year period, and food prices are shooting up. Senator Paul also discussed how inflation steals the wealth of those on fixed incomes more than anyone else, and made the essential point that inflation comes from national debt. In an especially stark soundbite, Paul said “if people are prepared to carry money to the grocery store in a wheel barrel, that may be coming.”
Glenn and Paul agreed that the proposed cuts in the debt ceiling deal are uncertain and ineffectively spread out over a ten year period, and that “we face our day of reckoning before that ten years comes.”
Sen. Paul then went on to make his most grim statement: “what I worry about is the Weimar Republic, I worry about 1923 in Germany, when they destroyed the currency they elected Hitler, I don’t want something like that to happen in our country.”

Posted on August 2, 2011 at 9:30pm“Hostile and condescending” interview? Compared to what, Hannity or anyone else on FOX? He was asking Paul why he was unwilling to compromise but was willing to let the economy collapse rather than compromise on a proposal that is a huge, if horribly misguided, win for conservatives.
This guy is one of many who have realized that can simply shut down the government voting “no” on anything that is proposed. Their threat, their ace in the hole, is to let the economy collapse, something they know that the President of the United States, who has to act for the American people will not allow.
The Founders didn’t imagine that a small, fringe group could hold the American people hostage by filibustering or otherwise shutting down government action. Things were more civil then and have been since with very few exceptions.
But Americans aren’t stupid. Things will get better after the 2012 election.

Posted on August 2, 2011 at 10:02pmYour historical ignorance is deplorable! What became National Socialist Germany was the result of economic and political lunacy that the democrats and yes the republican rinos, the usual suspects Snow, Collins, Grammnesty, Mcain have given this nation in especially the last four years. It is the democrat party and their leader who bear the responsibility for bringing our nation to the disaster that awaits us. We have already seen how a pathological deceiving liar can come to power using all the deception skills at his command and of course with a pavlovian lapdog media to do the democrat party’s bidding. This deal is a fraud and those who sold knew it! They played us as dumkopfs but November 2012 is coming and the people must make sure that their candidates are honorable which means they can’t be any democrat now in office or any bushite rinos; this will be the last chance to salvage our civilization and return freedom, liberty and constitutional government to our land. We shall see in three or four months if any of those naive weak R’s that voted for this have learned anything. What group of cowards our Congress is elected to make decisions about our the future of the country and they haven’t got the guts to do their jobs on our money! They now have a group 12 that will tell them what they must do! This nation’s future does not look bright. JZS, WE are not bent on collapsing the economy, YOU are brother. If the TEA Party hadn’t made a stand, you tell me what would have happened ?? They would have raised the debt and just continued to spend, with plans on doubling down. Which appears to be the plan here anyways. Clearly you have no idea about what integrity, honor and truth is. The clear reality about the current economic disposition of our nation is ensuring a certain collapse. One that I suspect is the plan of many forces outside of this administration as well. Those of the world who have been determined to sink the US for as many as long as a half century or more, and have begun to move the target to voiding the sovereignty of our nation.
Report Post »Why can’t you realize this JZS ?? You seem to be a somewhat intelligent man, but clearly ignorant to the facts. Allowing you ideology and intellect to interfere with your reasoning. This jagoff Lemon was clearly trying to corner the congressman on questions that can’t be answered in yes and no terms. Especially when we are talking about terms requiring some sort of compromise. What is ever more disturbing is the reality and fact that the Dems weren’t will to compromise in ANY way what soever. A Majority of the TEA party members only wanted a balance budget mandate and they would have walked the line. As the results revealed. Com one JZS, wake up

You have a short memory, the Tea Party backed a bill called Cut, Cap and Balance which passed the house with bi-partisan support. It was the Dems in the Senate who refused to even allow it up for debate and votes. So who exactly was “holding the country hostage with no votes”?
You make another critical error in thinking that Rand Paul and the Tea Party should automatically jump behind this bill because it’s “a.win for Republicans.” The reason you kind have so much trouble understanding the Tea Party is because for us it’s not about Republicans or Democrats, it’s about America and what is best for this country. If it‘s bad for America who cares if it’s a “win” for Republicans?? In the end we ALL lose! The days of playing politics are over, it’s come to this, your either for America or against her. I for one am for her and if that means losing my “benefits” so that my children can know freedom, so be it! I’ll make that sacrifice.

The ONLY reason there was any serious debate on how to confront our country’s suicidal level of government debt ( caused by ever-escalating level of overspending, ESPECIALLY under Obama and the Pelosi/Reid congress…) is PRECISELY because of the vocal and much-criticized group of newly elected, conservative Republicans you and your ilk so mindlessly disparage.
Get a clue, you “progressive” dopes ! Our dire fiscal predicament is 99% due to the federal government’s SPENDING PROBLEM…which VASTLY outweighs (and in fact actually CAUSES) any “revenue problem” we’re experiencing.
When our nation‘s credit rating drops and the Dollar collapses and due to THIS administration’s and your economically unsustainable SOCIALIST policies being implemented, we’ll have IDIOTS like you to blame. You liars simply refuse to believe the truth: since taking power in Congress and the WH, the U.S. economy is in the WORSE shape since the GREAT DEPRESSION. In spite of RECORD levels of domestic government spending these past 3 years, virtually EVERY measure of economic health in America has plummeted. Unemployment, personal net worth, and GDP are MUCH WORSE than before Obama’s time in office. And now energy and food prices are approaching ALL-TIME highs. If the last three years are any indication, I (and more Americans than you want to admit) shudder to think how much WORSE things can only get get under Obama.

Got your timing a little messed up, that’s all inflation is still lower than in the Carter Administration, but don’t give up hope, This one’s got a little time to keep trying!
Even with Carter’s Wage/Price Controls every time I went to the grocery store prices were 3-5 cents higher. I’d drive my husbands business income to the bank and stop at the grocery store ( very small family owned business ) to check what I could afford for the weeks groceries for our 4 small kids, then run home to get my personal check book. By the time I got back there were often 3 more price stickers on each can of vegetables, each 1 cent higher, and that would be in less than an hour.
Are you saying that wasn’t a recession! That’s when they did away with the “Truth in Advertising laws that forced stores to sell for the price on the shelves, because they couldn’t keep up with the price hikes. THERE WERE 5 STORES IN OUR HOME TOWN, AND ALL OF THEM SAID, THAT THEY HAD TO KEEP DOING THIS TO AVOID BANKRUPTCY!!
Today everything’s up 50 c to $1.50 from about 2 months ago! Prices used to go down during a recession, but I remember Hillary crooning, “We did it, we BROKE THE BUSINESS CYCLE!!!” Guess what, THEY DID IT!!!

Posted on August 3, 2011 at 12:39amThe references to nazi germany are a reference to what directly led to its rise which was the Weimar Republic. At the end of World War I the United States initially proposed that the war was finally over, that everyone had suffered, that the last thing that anyone should do was to start pointing fingers and looking for revenge. Back at home Wilson had made a great many enemies and the first treaty to come before Congress was soundly defeated. Wilson got sick and the SotH went to work on a new treaty which focused all blame directly on Germany and the Ottoman Empire, Englands great rivals. It caused the creation of the Middle East we have today sans Israel and forced Germany to pay reparations. Something they had no money to pay. And Europe as well was destroyed, no infrastructure, nothing. The US had a bunch of money so this is the idea they came up with. We loaned Germany a bunch of money which they in turn paid back to us so we could loan it to England. Not enough room here to go into the full economic ramifications of something like this but 1929 is a good indicator. Germans with wheelbarrows full of cash, there are pictures of a Weimar Mark that was worth 1000 overstamped with “Eine Milliarde Mark”, this is where our currency is going. Now what Glenn always refers to is when people get scared and hungry the cult of personality can put forth an Adolf, a Stalin, a Mussolini and the people will cheer and participate in the culling of the “unworthy”.

Posted on August 3, 2011 at 12:47amI think you are missing point of the historical reference- it is nothing about Nazism it’s a historical example of what happens when a government prints money. It’s Keynesian counter cyclical government spending. (Spending money when the economy dips) In the case of Germany (the Weimar republic) it led to hyperinflation. Same as in Zimbabwe. the main purpose of printing money (think bailouts) is to address unemployment; in the case of the Weimar republic it did just that, almost zero unemployment. Politicians get praise and the poor get sandbagged when inflation hits. You could buy a whole city block in Berlin with something like 35oz of gold. 70% of all the US dollars are in circulation outside the US, more US$ have been printed during bush’s 8 years then existed before, Obama did it the same in 6 months. When all those US dollars come rushing back we will all live out this boring academic monetary concept called hyperinflation –hang on tight.

Your absolutely correct. Except the small fringe group are Socialists masked as the Democratic party. It takes a lot of Ball$ to try and side the founders to the principals passed down by Pelosi, Reid and Obama. I can imagine the up roar in the congress as the speaker states. You have to pass the bill to find out whats in it. Washington would have walked them out to the back and put a bullet in his head. Or allowing the President to wage war against another country without congressional approval. Yes they never imagined that secular principals would replace Christian precepts in the formation of America nor would they have imagined Government expanding and encroaching in Private enterprise and citizens lives. And as for holding the Americans people hostage? That’s a two way street. Yes things were more civil then because those who wanted a King were outnumbered by those who wanted a republic with the 3 equal branches of goverment in place. Cant wait for 2012. Progressive socialists will be given their hat as they leave the building and I’ll be dancing in the streets.

You made a few posts so I’m just going to deal the first couple. Comparing Lemon’s interview to hannity or anyone else on Fox is an apples to oranges comparison. Hannity is an opinion guy and Lemon is not. As for the rest of Fox, shakes out the same, opinion shows are full of rhetoric and things you may or may not agree with. Fox does not operate like cnn and the rest. There is a separation in hard news and opinion, cnn mixes the two.
Lemon set the interview up with false premise questions and you regurgitated them in your post. Furthermore, the “no talking points” was a snide remark and if it had been another senator known for spewing talking points, unlike Senator Paul who gives straight forward interviews, it still would have been rude. Even Furthermore, Lemon set it up to be contentious and Paul just wasn’t. It made lemon look like an amateur. Im sure your opinion is different.
I like facts how ever they come and your comments about inflation was true. According to the Fed it is low. I haven’t looked in a while but it is at or below 2%. Core inflation that is, which does not include the cost of food and energy. Also, the matrix used to calculate inflation was changed and you can find charts that show what it would be. Bottom line is, despite what the fed says inflation is real and that is a fact. The grocery store and the gas pump contradicts the fed.

Posted on August 3, 2011 at 2:17pm**WHY** is anyone replying to or arguing with shills like JZS!?!?
You might as well argue with a not-too-bright parrot. Just like the parrot has no idea what your words mean and only repeats what its’ trained to, so goes JZS.
There are only two possibilities regarding JZS and his ilk:
A) He’s a paid shill, in which case you‘ll not change his mind as he likely doesn’t believe a word of what he’s saying anyway, and your replies just make him money, or…
B) He’s a not-too-bright shill that isn‘t smart enough to realize that he’s doing a job for free that others are getting paid for, and/or can’t figure out how to cash the checks.
Take your pick.
In either case, by replying you‘re only helping the Soros’s of the world, and maybe helping a shill get paid. You won’t win an argument, as he’s not listening to reason or facts, he’s only USING your reply to get paid and cherry-pick keywords and phrases to throw back and further inflame and anger you.
DON’T FEED THE TROLLS!!
Remember the saying about what happens to those that argue with idiots.

Posted on August 3, 2011 at 5:09pmIt would be helpful if you agreed that it is better to learn from history than repeat it. Unfortunately, you seem to enjoy wearing blinders.
Hitler was not viewed as being an extremist until long after he had lifted Germany out of its inflationary spiral with the newly established military industrial complex. He started with an undisclosed grand plan, and kept it under wraps for many years, piecing the puzzle together very carefully so as not to draw attention to his goals.
Obama’s approach is somewhat less subtle, but just as calculating, and just as damaging to our freedoms.
It is not the Naziism that Rand Paul fears . . . it is the willingness of the American people to put faith in someone who speaks so convincingly that they do not notice him doing one thing while saying another. We are in the middle of the “biggest bait and switch” that America has ever seen.
Report Post »Doc_Slammin
Posted on August 3, 2011 at 5:54pmThere are nasty resemblances to Germany and Hitler. For example, Hitler’s campaign slogan was “hope and change”. During a nasty economy, Hitler put people to work for the government building roads and infrastructure. He used racial and economic warfare to separate people to maintain a control over the populace. He controlled school curriculum and started influencing young minds into perceiving things that were radical to achieve an agenda. At first, those who spoke out against Hitler were mocked and ridiculed by the National Socialist party (NATZI) and their press agents. People of good conscience were silenced and tyranny took over.
This is not to say that Obama is Hitler. I do not believe that to be so. I believe him to be a bitter man who does not like American politics that is in WAY over his head. I believe him to be little more than a puppet, a face if you will, of his left wing base and their irresponsible nature.

Posted on August 3, 2011 at 9:07pmThank you all for your thoughtful and well reasoned insults. I hope the cathartic pleasure of calling me names has lowered your blood pressure.
I wish I could respond to each and every post but I’d be cut off after one or two. One thing I hope we can agree on is that despite the never ending proclamations that “Obama is taking away my freedoms!” no one can give a single example. I understand that’s empty rhetoric but I am gratified at the acknowledgment here that no one has lost any freedom. Say it if you want, but from now on we‘ll know you’re just making stuff up.
Just a couple of comments to address as many posters as possible. For those who they are a little squeezed by trying to buy the necessities of life with your income. I sympathize. But that complaint is ironic. The rich don’t have that problem. They’re not worried about putting the food on the table, they’re concerned that maybe they should put off buying that new Lexus, or, with the really rich, that new house or personal jet. And those are the guys you are saying should get the tax breaks.
Bush cut taxes dramatically. Twice. Did that result in more government revenue? No. More jobs? No. Better economy? No. PT Barnum is smiling. You’ve been convinced by the super rich that if we cut taxes, this time we’ll get more jobs. It’s never worked before, but you feel patriotic nonetheless. Okay, that‘s you’re right. The rich are smiling too.

Rockefellers and Rothschilds are at the top of the bloodlines of the Illuminati Satanic Decendants
The illuminati have been a closely guarded secret for centuries. It has been only recently that the lid has been blown off the evil works and plans of the illuminists. We now know who they are, where they came from, what their names are and what plans they have for civilization.
To start with “Illuminati” means “enlightened ones” They believe they have ultimate wisdom and truth and the rest of us are just dumb sheep who can‘t lead our own lives and thus are in need of rulers who know what’s best.
The satanic goal of the illuminati is to destroy all governments and religions and bring the world under their control. That is the idea of The New World Order. The agenda is to have a one world government under their domination with the biblical antichrist as the ultimate world lead
