Rangel: Lame-Duck Victories Spared Obama From 2012 Primary Challenge

Will President Barack Obama face a challenge from within his own party in 2010?
When MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asked Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., this question Tuesday (after the pair had lunch together), Rangel noted that he feels differently about this issue now that the president delivered victories for his liberal base during the recent lame-duck session of Congress, including the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
In other Rangel-related news, the censured 21-term congressman announced Tuesday that he had established a fund so that supporters can help pay for his legal defense. Rangel fans can donate up to $5,000 to help foot the bill for his mounting legal bills, stemming from his House Ethics trial in which he was found guilty of 11 of 13 violations.

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 10:16amRangel was just exposed within the last 2 weeks as one of the 10 most corrupt politicians in D.C. by Judicial Watch. This is an organization that is constantly exposing government corruption through the use of FOIA. They do this exposure every year. Here is this year’s list. No particular order.
1. Barack Obama
2. Harry Reid
3. Nancy Pelosi
4. John Ensign
5. Charley Rangle
6. Barney Frank
7. Jesse Jackson Jr.
8. Barbara Boxer
9. Maxine Waters
10.Hal Rogers
Rahm Emanuel was on the list but was removed when he left to reek further corruption on Chicago. I have no doubt Holder would be there if the list went to 15.

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 9:24amRangel should be in prison and thats a fact! What gets me is why after his censureship do all of these liberal talk show host idiots suddenly seem to think that he is suddenly an expert on all things political? It seems like all of them seem to want to have him speak about everything that is going on. Does this mean that you are not considered an “expert” unless you’ve been censured or what?

We need a Constitutional Amendment to outlaw the lame duck after a Congress changes hands. All that version of the lame duck ever gets us is a the last gasp attempt to ram through the most hyper-partisan wishlist crap.
I‘m surprised they didn’t try to ram Crap & Tax through.

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 6:36amObama didn’t deliver anything. It was from a congress that had been “fired” on November 2nd that rammed through their agenda as a get back to the American people. Republicans are as much to blame for not impeding the process until the new congressional cycle. The new congress must put an end to Lame Duck legislating to keep this from ever happening again!

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 2:34amOh please!!!! Give me a break. From all indications, from all reports, those on the side of and those opposed to the prez’s policies and platform have seen any real leadership in the last two weeks; he has at best a two week run of good fortune for his agenda. Are we all that shallow and forgetful to think that his about face to the center is somehow a redemptive transformation? You can click your ruby slippers together as much as you want, Barak “Mohamed” Obummer is a dyed in the wool socialist progressive who’s only focus is on keeping his repugnant presidency and communist like agenda alive. What do you expect “Mr. Wrangel me a deal” to say? Mr. Corruption has to kiss the ass that feeds him.

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 11:05amAs Glenn has often pointed out, it is like the ol’ street corner walnut shell and the pea scam. Look at what the right hand is doing, but pay close attention to the left. I hope and pray that the incoming Tea Party Congress members will follow the lead of Sen. DeMint and not the Sen Bonds and Murkowski of our government. They knew to know Who they are and What they stand for and Why they were elected. We the People elected them to Congress to represent us and they need to realize that the power we gave them in the election is being usurped by the Executive Branch and their acolytes in the 12 trillion Federal agencies?

Report Post »guyperram
Posted on December 29, 2010 at 6:26amTIFOSA= and just when did a Democrat do so? Balancing the budget will not get this country on the right path. That would be like putting a bandade on a cut artery. Only serious, major changes will repair this ship, and that will not happen, no matter how congress is changed , or whichever party is in power. The size of government needs to be reduced to what they were allowed in the constitution, basically the defense department, and the post office. If you think any politican is going to support that, think again. All the rest is useless posturing.
Report Post »They, through their arrogance. have thrown us a party that is almost here. Bad times are coming, do your own research, it isn‘t very hard to find out whats on it’s way.

Posted on December 30, 2010 at 3:09pmReaching for straws TIFOSA! Congress limited spending as Clinton’s hands were tied with a majority Republican Congress. His agenda was forced to cut spending and in the end he received praise for balancing the federal check book….whoopty doo! That has nothing to do with it. It’s like assuming that the president is the only one who spends money in Washington….FAILED assumption as Congress votes in legislation to spend millions every month in sessions.
What next, liberal presidents have more hair than conservatives, therefore they have more intelligence…the ratio of stupid is everywhere.

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 4:19amrogue, Troubles Engage Administrator
Well first, with the self-imposed misery Rangel has wrangled for himself these past many months (actually over his whole career), I am surprised he had enough time to spot the big hole this Administrator has shot in his own foot. But the hole is so big, even Rangel failed to miss it. Rangel nicely confirms the hole is very big and very real. Wow, what a dubious pal. Misery must love company.
At the same time, Rangel, fails to comprehend, doing more of the same post 11-2-10, that invited the shellacking on 11-2-10, simply invites a far greater shellacking on 11-6-12. The more Progressive wins in DC, the more they loose the next go round that is sure to come round. This sure ain’t not no rocketeering sciencing.
Inflation starts to hit hard, and it will be long, energy costs ‘necessarily skyrocket,’ the web is attacked, spending increases, housing deflates, the prelude to ‘death panels’ take form, jobs remain our main export, we capitulate to Russia, and legalized everything and anything starts to beg for anarchy. And Rangel thinks his hero has miraculously saved himself? Shame on you Rangel, Hillary must be devastated. She is rejected before she even gets a… a fourth chance. I still say, the first woman this Administrator will have to beat is Hillary. She will answer the call, and their will be a call, it just ain’t not no rocketeering sciencing.
