Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday praised rapper Ice-T for knowing the meaning of the word “tyranny” — and Ice-T called him a “racist piece of sh-t” for it.
Limbaugh had been commenting on the rapper and actor’s recent remarks defending gun rights in the wake of the Aurora, Colo. shooting, calling the right to bear arms “the last form of defense against tyranny.”
“He knew the word ‘tyranny,’” Limbaugh said on his radio program. “And he knows that tyranny comes from government representatives. Double impressive.”
On Tuesday night, Ice-T took to Twitter to respond to Limbaugh, posting: “Rush Limbaugh said he was impressed I knew the word ‘tyranny’… He’s a racist piece of sh-t.” He followed that up with a link to a website featuring the “Top 10 Racist Limbaugh Quotes.”

Rush is so polarizing he is ineffective anymore. IMHO
Doesnt matter if he is right, people tune him outbecause of so many problems with his life and his views. At least Ice T knows what the 2nd amendment IS and IS NOT. Good for him.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 4:49pmLast time I checked, Limbaugh was still the number one most listened to program in the country with between 35 and 50-million listeners. This is five times as many people as the top news network and more than 100 times the amount of people that listened to Ice’s new CD. If people are actually tuning him out, ten people are taking their place every day. Sound to me like Aggie is simply wish-casting.

AggieBrewer wishes that her/his words were true but we Ditto Heads know better. Rush is simply reflecting what we already believe. It just so happens that I really do not think much of Rapper Ice-T either as a musician or a holly-weird star. His defense of gun-rights must be related to his fear of going the way of other black rap stars who’ve been gunned down at clubs by other black gang-bangers.
The black society at large is exactly the joke that Tyler Perry portrays it to be in his “Madea” character movies. I see a black population that largely votes democrat regardless the damage the democrats do to our country. FOR WHAT??? I see so many black women drug addicts on the nightly news being arrested for child neglect, and black daddies(what a joke) who have fathered so many children they’ve lost count.
I see black adolescents whose only ambition in life is being stupid, not studying and beating the hell out of any other black student who even attempts to excel in school. Much less what they do to the physically weaker white students…practice for their future career by exercising extortive larceny on those lil’ white crackers named Johnny.
Black society has a problem all righty and the fact that Ice-T can discern the meaning of Tyranny much less use the word correctly and spell it correctly wiffout axing som‘un for the let’urs means he must be one of them thar uppity uncle Toms like Clarence Thomas. Kudos Ice-T learning has not

did you ever think that MAYBE he was referencing the fact that you are a hollywood actor and THAT is why he was surprised instead of referencing that your black. That is the problem in my view, the default blame for anything that can even be remotely taken the wrong way is racist and to that degree it is wrong. Why must black people always assume whites are racist. Racism can work both ways and for a black person to instantly accuse a person because that person is white is the same thing. Would he have accused a black person of the same insensitivity? I think not, too many are to ready to push the race button. He may be right but he may be wrong and until he knows for sure he is committing the same rush to judgement that he accuses Rush.

If someone said they were surprised I knew what a word meant, I’d laugh. No biggie. I don’t derive my self-worth from what another says about me.
But if someone (like Ice T) gets all worked up, that means he is unsure of himself. His emotions are wild. He cannot be civil. He fails to think. Par for the course. This is a fundamental affliction of black America (not all blacks, but way too many) that needs to be fixed for any sort of progress to be made.
I don’t see it happening. Black America is mired in insecurity and hate. Most of the hate is self-directed. No one who loves themself would follow Farakhan, Jackson, Sharpton, or the vast majority of rappers. These are people hell-bent on killing themselves.

Rush MIGHT have been surprised that Ice-T knew the word tyranny because he’s an actor.
I’m surprised he knew the word for both of those reasons. Ice-T is a racist, because he assumed it was due to his skin color. Who’s focused on race and thinking about it all the time? The guy who’s angry and comes from a culture focused on race (rap culture).

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 9:41pmOh my Goodness! There is “tyranny” in this country! I agree, let’s compare notes.
- As never before, the Republican minority is blocking every single piece of legislation Obama has proposed (even if they previously supported the idea) by using the filibuster to block any vote unless it has a 60% majority. That’s tyranny. The Founders are rolling over in their graves.
- 20 or 30 billionaires (who own 50% of the wealth of the country already), can now anonymously buy any election in the country by pumping 100s of millions of dollars to the candidate who will best make them even more rich. That’s tyranny.
- I’ve lost or never had my birth certificate like many young people and old people and minorities. I‘ve lived in this country my entire life but don’t have a “government issued” ID. To get one might mean taking days off of work and travel (I don’t have a car), notarized affidavits with signatories, more to pay for birth certificates and fees. So, even though I’ve voted for the last 50 years, I can’t vote anymore. I can by an assault rifle and 6000 rounds of ammo, but can’t vote. That’s tyranny.
- I’m a doctor and the government is forcing me to perform a medically unnecessary procedure on my client, which they have to pay for out of pocket because it’s not covered by it insurance (because it’s unnecessary). The government also makes me read a government issued statement to them. That’s tyranny.

You said it best. Maybe before Ice-T’s criticism of gun control, Rush found him to be a few cards shy of a full deck, no matter what freakin’ color he is. There can be a million other things he doesn’t like about Ice-T besides his race, so perhaps he took the opportunity to give him a cheap shot along with the compliment. Maybe a bit rude, but not necessarily racist! What Ice-T needs to do is quit making irrational assumptions of racism whenever a white guy says something he doesn’t like. O.K., enough said; I’ve gotta get back to work. Pimpin‘ ain’t easy, but somebody’s gotta do it.

He should have simply applauded ICE-T for speaking out – as this is truly how many feel. I find it funny that most conservatives I know believe we’re living in a time of socialism, when they can’t smell the fascism surrounding them on their daily lives. Government and big business in bed together on insurance, health care, foreign wars for continued profits to the blackwater/halliburton/MIC franchises, local government monopolies and pension funds, TSA police state, bailouts and while the people are barely surviving with increased costs on food, healthcare, transportation, underwater homes/mortgages that they are bogged down with. It’s a complete mess. While I am 100% against any government run service, our government spends so much blood, money and energy being the policeman of the world it’s destroying our society. My children, a daughter who is 10 and 2 younger children have not known a day without war in this country. I’m continually amazed how conservatives are propagandized into sacrificing their wealth and children for this worthless warmongering and build-up of the police state. Democrats – (socialists) see the fascism, but instead of any semblance of self reliance and reverence for liberty would sacrifice the remaining productive parts of society, which destroys any future this country has. I want liberty. Rush is part of the problem with his ditto-head cult.

You are quite correct. Many of the commentators who are piling onto Ice T in this story have, in fact, expressed the same opinion in the past.
Your founding fathers intended that the citizenry should be protected from tyrannical government by constitutional law, and, as a last resort, be able to defend itself from such a government.
Bejamin Franklin said that the founding fathers had given the new nation republican governance “if you can keep it”.
Ice T is entirely correct. The second amendment of the constitution is not there to allow people to hunt, but as a means to protect itself from tyranny, which can only come from a government which breaks the constitution, and in that case the police would be used to support it. Even Mr Limbaugh has said this in the past, and not just once.
Mr Limbaugh’s characterisations were specious and facile. And, as his statements were so gratuitously insulting, it is unsurprising that Ice T should respond in the way that he did.
Perhaps the people who are supporting Mr Limbaugh and knocking Ice T should dispassionately consider the import of the United States Constitution, and then decide who, in fact, is right.

I’d really like to see you purchase any gun anywhere, let alone any ammunition without some kind of government ID. Not possible, even at a gunshow. OK, maybe if you do it illegally, that would work. You’re right about the billionares buying elections – that’s exactly how Obummer won last time around with Soros spending millions and the likes of all the libs from Hollywood have $100000 per plate fund raisers that only they could afford – that’s tyranny. And the Republicans filibustering ALL legislation – I don’t think so. When the dems controlled both houses we got hosed on tons of legislation, including payoffs to Obummers buddies and supporters (see Solyndra), Healthcare, and Bailout funds, to name a few – that’s tyranny. And now that we have a Republican House, Obummer just signs executive orders – that’s tyranny.

Yea, so many people are tuning out. Guess that‘s why he’s still the number one ranked talk radio personality.

Posted on July 27, 2012 at 12:24pmRush is still very effective in exposing the “intolerant” Liberal left for what it is! Worthless pieces of burnt kettle corn… I am interested in Law enforcement. How do I get to be a part of Luis Farrakhan’s standing law enforcement battalion? I do not believe I can pass the visual inspection! Is that racist? or uncomfortable truth? Ice T with too much lemon, I find that hard to swallow. Worthless POS!

Posted on July 27, 2012 at 12:37pm@Mutiny: I was surprised that “Ice-T“ used such a word as ”tyranny” myself, and it had NOTHING to do with his skin color. My impression (which comes from his past) of him (as a former “gansta rap artist,“ who had a number called ”cop killer”) was that he’d be more in common with a dirt-bag OWS cretin than a constitutional patriot. The ignoring of Mr. “Ice-T’s” past in the equation of this makes you sound terribly DUMB when you try to follow his supposed rationale.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 3:39pmWhile i happen to like Ice-T, i fully understand his racist roots. For any who doubt, try googling his band Body Count. rapping about killing cops and raping David Dukes underage daughters kind of makes limbaughs “off-color” comments look pretty damn tame.

Yes, Yes, he’s a raging capitalist, but ‘racist’ …. ? Naw … Ice-T IS racist though, as all ‘afro-centrist’ are …. It Does seem like, that most black people would have the other races be subservient to them …. WE can All Thank GOD that the strength of the black people … is actually their crazy-acting women !!

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 4:45pmYea call it racist because the word tyranny can’t be found in the ebonics dictionary, not because Rush was impressed he knew it when he SAW it. Wonder if her recognizes it when Oblahblah does it?

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 6:50pmI took Limbaugh’s comment to mean that it was impressive that someone from the Hollywood media conglomerate understood what tyranny meant, which was the first thing that came to mind when I watched the video.
Ice T needs to grow a thicker skin and not automatically assume every comment thrown his way is a racial remark or twist it into one.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 3:36pmI think it was probably the fact that Ice T is a former pimp that led Rush to be surprised by his knowledge, not the fact that he’s black. Rush wouldn’t say that about Allen West or even Al Sharpton. It‘s just that most pimps aren’t known for vocabulary and knowledge of the US government.

Posted on July 26, 2012 at 1:05amIf Vanilla-Ice said the same thing Ice-T did, Limbaugh would’ve said the same thing if not much worst. Rappers usually have a limited vocabulary, mostly comprised of words you need to wash your mouth after using them.

Posted on July 25, 2012 at 3:32pmI don’t think Limbaugh is a racist, but his comments where none the less a back handed compliment. Ice T should be careful throwing the word racist around anyway. He does not exactly have a profound love for white people. Regardless, he is right about tyranny.
