Rapper Snoop Dogg Tebows After Throwing First Pitch at Twins-White Sox Game (Poll)

Rapper Snoop Dogg is known for his raunchy lyrics and sometimes comical antics. On Thursday night, the famed performer headed to the Twins-White Sox game in Chicago, where he was invited to throw out the first pitch before the game. But rather than merely tossing the ball and heading back to the dugout with minimal fanfare, the star decided to strike the Tebow pose in front of the packed audience.
Yahoo! Sports has a recap of the events, complete with pictures and an explanation:
If you’ve forgotten, and it’s hard to imagine you have, Tebowing became a national phenomenon in 2011. New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow, who made the stance popular during his time playing with the Denver Broncos, often bends down in a prayerful stance during games. His actions (i.e. Tebowing) have been mimicked, mocked and praised incessantly, as The Blaze has reported. Snoop decided to capitalize on the stance’s popularity.

Here‘s the complete video coverage of Snoop’s pitch and his subsequent Tebow, below:
While the rapper’s appearance was comical, it does raise some interesting questions. Baseball teams typically choose someone of note to throw out the first pitch during major league games. While Snoop is certainly an individual who is well-known by the masses, his selection is somewhat curious.
With baseball serving as such a family-friendly sport, and considering the many heads of state and prominent individuals who have been heralded and chosen for such a distinction, one wonders if he was an appropriate choice. Consider, for instance, some of his past lyrics and videos (caution: extremely explicit language and themes):
“Step Yo Game Up”
“Stoner’s Anthem”
These, of course, are only two examples — and there are many more. But here’s the question: By holding Snoop Dogg up as an individual worthy of throwing out the first pitch, are officials sending the wrong message to young people? Take our poll and let us know, below:

Posted on May 26, 2012 at 3:48pmJust because you don’t agree with the man, doesn‘t mean he isn’t a prominent figure. And don’t talk to me about a “family sport” when concessions guys walk up and down the aisles selling alcohol to already intoxicated individuals which inevitably leads to naked streaking (see recent Phillies game for proof).

Posted on May 26, 2012 at 5:29pmProfessional baseball has not always been a family sport. Before WWII, MLB stadiums were a place where men would dress up in suits and hats and go to. It was not a place for women or children. Pay attention to the stands during the Ruth days if you don’t believe me. Please know your history people before you comment.

It might be some sort of positive message or a mockery that I’m not sure of, but him throwing the first pitch at a baseball game doesn’t harm anyone. Baseball is a business. They do what they can to draw crowds. Was Snoop Dogg a good choice, time will tell.
I seem to remember hearing that most of the kids that bought his music were well-to-do white kids.

Posted on May 25, 2012 at 10:02amIt was a brief moment in time that Snoop Dogg had more respect in his life he has ever known until the masses understood his true intentions to make a mockery of Christianity. It would have been interesting if he was stoned out of his mind and the police appropriately looked the othe way so the disrespect of the law could be seen on display too. Sad that so many people are spending time behind bars while thugs like Dogg openly show their disdain the law for the same thing.

But when you say never mind his antics or the the filth and violence in his music, i completely disagree! Sure he’s a family man and a coach, etc. But look at all the young kids that he sold into the gangsta , druggy, thuggy, this is the schnizzie way of life, just so he could make his big money !! Half of them are probably serving time for trying to emulate there (idol) snoop ! You can bet your paycheck that he doesn’t portray this lifestyle around his own children!!! He can explain his greed to the one who made him! HEY! Maybe he truly did have a change of heart and came to the LORD ! Jesus Christ does forgive !!! If thats the case , more power to ya – Snoop !!!
