TRIANGLE, Va. — Hundreds rallied outside a Virginia Marine Corps base to protest the treatment of an imprisoned Army private suspected of providing classified data to Wikileaks.
About 30 people were arrested Sunday at the rally protesting the pretrial detention of Pfc. Bradley Manning. About two-dozen rallies were held around the world.
Manning is being held in solitary confinement at the Quantico base’s brig. He’s confined to his cell 23 hours a day and forced to strip naked before bed. The military says the conditions of his detention are justified.
Protesters chanted “Free Bradley Manning” and confronted dozens of police officers in riot gear outside the entrance to the base. A short scuffle ensued. The arrests were made after protesters refused to vacate the intersection at the base entrance.
From the YouTube post: Hundreds rallied outside the military base where Daniel Manning is being detained on charges of providing classified data to Wikileaks. Dozens were arrested, including Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked the so-called Pentagon Papers in 1971. (March 20)

He’s only been found guilty in the court of PUBLIC OPINION which is EXACTLY what “they” wanted in the first place he is a scapegoat.
2. How can Assange be classified as a traitor when he isn’t even a citizen of the USA?

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 10:24amPlease inform yourself. Manning is still on active duty and will go through a court martial. He falls under U.C.M.J.
Report Post »proliance
Posted on March 21, 2011 at 3:50pm1. He is not being punished, he is confined until his court martial. He still has his rank and gets his paycheck. However, being in the brig is different than being in jail. An inmate must have permission for everything, including using the bathroom. If Pvt. Manning does not ask properly while standing at attention, he can be denied use of the latrine. Just imagine boot camp, but a lot stricter.
He’s far from being a scapegoat. All the evidence, including his own admissions, show he willing provided top-secret information to a foreign national. There is no evidence anyone else was involved. Assange apparently didn’t know about Pvt. Manning’s theft of govt. documents until there were provided to him. Assange won’t be charged with a crime any more than the NY Times will be. They both published the same stolen information.
2. You’re right about Assange. Since he is not an American, he cannot be a traitor. I can’t believe so many people get that wrong.

What you are forgetting is Pfc. Manning doesn’t fall under the regular court system, he falls under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). It does not guarantee a speedy trial nor does he have the rights of a normal citizen right now because he is still on active duty. Here is a couple articles he could be charged with among other sections.
906a. ART. 106a. ESPIONAGE
(A) (1) Any person subject to this chapter who, with intent or reason to believe that it is to be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of a foreign nation, communicates, delivers, or transmits, or attempts to communicate, deliver, or transmit, to any entity described in paragraph (2), either directly or indirectly, any thing described in paragraph (3) shall be punished as a court-martial may direct, except that if the accused is found guilty of an offense that directly concerns (A) nuclear weaponry, military spacecraft or satellites, early warning systems, or other means of defense or retaliation against large scale attack, (B) war plans, (C) communications intelligence or cryptographic information, or (D) any other major weapons system or major element of defense strategy, the accused shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court- martial may direct.
(2) An entity referred to in paragraph (1) is–
(A) a foreign government;
(B) a faction or party or military force within a foreign country, whether recognized or unrecognized by the United States
(C) a representative, officer, agent, employee, subject, or citizen of such government, faction, party, or force.
(3) A thing refereed to in paragraph (1) is a document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, note, instrument, appliance or information relating to the national defense.
(b) (1) No person may be sentenced by court-martial to suffer death for an offense under this section (article) unless–
(A) the members of the court-martial unanimously find at least one of the aggravating factors set out in subsection (c); and
(B) the members unanimously determine that any extenuating or mitigating circumstances are substantially outweighed by any aggravating circumstances, including the aggravating factors set out under subsection (c).
(2) Findings under this subsection may be based on–
(A) evidence introduced on the issue of guilt or innocence;
(B) evidence introduced during the sentencing proceeding; or
(C) all such evidence.
(3) The accused shall be given broad latitude to present matters in extenuation and mitigation.
(c) A sentence of death may be adjudged by a court-martial for an offense under this section (article) only if the members unanimously find, beyond a reasonable doubt, one or more of the following aggravating factors:
(1) The accused has been convicted of another offense involving espionage or treason for which either a sentence of death or imprisonment for life was authorized by statute.
(2) In the commission of the offense, the accused knowingly created a grave risk of substantial damage to the national security.
(3) In the commission of the offense, the accused knowingly created a grave risk of death to another person.
(4) Any other factor that may be prescribed by the President by regulations under section 836 of this title (Article 36).
904. ART. 104. AIDING THE ENEMY
Report Post »Any person who–
(1) aids, or attempts to aid, the enemy with arms, ammunition, supplies, money, or other things; or
(2) without proper authority, knowingly harbors or [protects or gives intelligence to or communicates or corresponds with or holds any intercourse with the enemy, either directly or indirectly;
shall suffer death or such other punishment as a court-martial or military commission may direct.

Then when you tell them ‘if I really want to kill myself I will use the elastic in my underwear or beat myself with my sandals’ they are going to make your life hell because now they have to watch you 24 hours a day they are going to make 23 hours of it unpleasant at your own request. REMEMBER accountability and personal responsibility? Well all his treatment is his own doing. The last thing I would do is threaten my keepers by saying ‘I am smarter and you can’t stop me if I try to kill myself’. Maybe it’s just me though. I have mixed feelings about this. Somebody just resigned because he disapproved of the treatment of Daniel Manning. There were MANY who could have read the cables. The people who sent them just got caught with their pants down and should have known better, should have had better upbringing, should have shown some respect for others in national government.
Obama, for example, should not have sold out the United States in the START Treaty when he bribed Russia to sign by giving them information on the UK’s military weapons strength, complete with serial numbers!

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 3:31amObama Blocks American Drilling—Steals 2 Billion In Taxpayer Money To Help China, Soros
by Dr. Alan Bates, MD.
Last year ‘Obama’ took 2,000,000,000. US Dollars from the ‘broke’ Federal Treasury and invested it into Petrobras, a large Brazilian oil drilling company which did not need any additional financial resources to accomplish its drilling operation off Brazilian shores which had one objective: to supply the Chinese with oil. The price of the company’s common stock surged and George Soros—the wealthy amoral socialist whose objective is a one-world government (read destruction of American capitalism) — sold some of his 22 million shares of Petrobras common stock and reinvested the proceeds in preferred shares of the company which then were selling at a discount to common while offering an additional 10 percent dividend. Now we find ‘Obama’ traveling to Brazil to strengthen ‘economic ties’ (Soros?) while the Mid East is in turmoil and Japan, the world’s third largest economy, is dealing with the largest human and structural disaster since WWII!
There are several problems with the picture outlined above. First and foremost, this Administration actively blocks PRIVATE SECTOR investment in development of American fossil fuel resources including drilling offshore, in ANWR and in the Rockies while diverting FEDERAL TAXPAYER money (read more borrowed money from China) into Petrobras to the benefit of China and not America’s energy security. Secondly, the ‘Obama’ investment was a gift to George Soros, the anti-American socialist who cowardly and without remorse betrayed his own Jewish people to side with the Nazis during WWII, to handsomely profit off the American taxpayer with ‘Obama’ serving as the conduit. Thirdly, the sole objective of the Petrobras drilling platform off the coast of Brazil is to supply China with oil—not America. Isn’t that an odd investment? Was that partial payback to Soros who was a leading financier of the ‘Obama’ presidential campaign which catapulted an inexperienced and unknown socialist puppet into the highest office in the Land? Is this story difficult to understand? Why is Mr. Soetoro still serving as President?
The irony is that America could easily become energy secure without imports if our socialist Administration would allow the private sector to develop our massive reserves at no cost to taxpayers. Instead, we have reached the point where the Middle East, upon which we are dependent for most of our oil imports, is in deep political turmoil with no clear outcome as to who will ultimately control our oil supply. We must bank on the hope that Saudi Arabia will maintain a stable monarchy which enriches itself from the sale of its oil America. Mr. Soetoro conducts American energy policy in a dream world of green energy initiatives which will never be able to power trains, planes, boats or trucks. We the People must replace him and his delusional socialist czars with someone who is a realist and will quickly open our frontiers to harvesting our energy resources, hopefully before our energy dependency on others halfway around the world leads to further destruction of our economy and the welfare of our people which appears to be the goal of this Administration and its financiers in virtually every policy initiative which I have reviewed in past commentaries.

If I was in charge my policy would be similar. Because of the size of his espionage and possibility that he has other bits of info still hidden, he can not have contact with others.My bet is that no one in the chain of command is willing to risk anything happening. How the heck does a low Private get access to so much info especially as in most cases access must be authorized on a case by case basis and on a daily basis. Next is the question of how he removed the info without some one knowing. Computers with this high level access should not have any external ports to down load info. Next is how did he get access while in a theater of operations where security should be at its very highest?I keep feeling he was a patsy of some one higher up with a grudge.I may be wrong but that is just the way I see it.

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 11:38amIf you look at who the protesters are, you‘ll see they’re left over traitors from the ‘60’s. If you look into their “cause” you’ll see that they are just continuing their anti-American Socialist Culture of Death ranting, pretending to support this traitorous Army private so that they can get some publicity for their tantrums. I unfortunate that these old traitors aren’t being sent off to live in North Korea or Cuba or Vietnam, since those are the “workers paradises” they love so much. Semper Fi.

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 2:11pmI think the traitor should be judged, then hanged publicly! Traitor pure and simple, and he is stripped down each night to save his life…for the GALLOWS!

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 5:47pmLooks like the old anti-Vietnam war protesters are now getting old but still haven’t grown up yet.
As for Bradley Manning, he’s a traitor and will get what he deserves.

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 8:05pmI hear the word “traitor” tossed around a lot, quite flippantly I might add.
I hear calls for this man’s execution, equally flippant.
I wonder what happens when Obama and Big Thick Sister Napolitano starts calling Tea Partiers traitors and terrorists (they already are), and what happens when these TSA thugs or military and steroid-infused police come to toss you into a FEMA Camp for being a “traitor” and starts executing people for it…
