Raw Video: Military Tanks Patrol Egyptian Streets

After reports of widespread looting of public buildings, businesses and even peoples’ private residences, new video posted to YouTube shows Egyptian military tanks entering the city of Rihab, a city located north of Cairo:

As looters raid peoples’ homes, Al Jazeera reports that Egyptians have been left to fend for themselves as police and military officers work to control growing crowds.

As we reported Friday, looters were threatening to destroy priceless antiquities located in Cairo’s Egyptian Museum and the national army was called in to try and protect the historical artifacts. Sadly, not all were spared from the public mob:

A show of force, sure, but “Egyptian tanks patrolling streets”? Uh, uh. Tanks are lousy urban patrol vehicles. They are too big and awkward, suck too much fuel, and only carry 4 crewmen, at least 3 of which are needed to move the thing. The other vehicles were armored personnel carriers (APCs), which do carry troops and are a much better choice for street patrol.

Well, what do we have here, In August 2007, Egypt requested the foreign military sale of an additional 125 M1A1 tanks, which would bring the country’s fleet to 1,005 M1A1 tanks. GDLS was awarded a $349m contract in January 2008, for the production of 125 M1A1 tank kits under the tenth increment of the the Egyptian co-production programme. Deliveries began in April 2009 and will continue until July 2011. Yes, that jet sounding engine was coming from an Abrams-main battle tank. APC’s look familiar too.
The M1A1/2 Abrams main battle tank is manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). The first M1 tank was produced in 1978, the M1A1 in 1985 and the M1A2 in 1986.

Egyptian tanks patrol streets? There was 1 M1 tank and 2 M113 armored personel carriers which moved about 20 feet. There was also a Russian built MI 24 gunship over head. Show of force? probably but not TANKS PATROLING STREETS .

Anybody vandalizing antiquities like that should be taken out for curbside execution for crimes against humanity. Honest to God, that is hideous.

BTW, can someone tell that stupid (untrag Hitler in Hiding about the atrocities committed under the Red banner of rationalism and atheism? Far worse than anything pulled off under the guise of the Cross, even worse than what the Religion of Peace has managed, but give them time.

They need to return to the days of Pharaoh and Ra. Build a pyramid or two. Get some public works projects going, something shovel ready to pacify the populace. Marry a sister or two. You know, go back to their roots, the glory days.

Are we so different in America? We are just as human as they. The same things could happen here under the right circumstances. What does make us different, however, is our constitution and laws and our reliance on God. We must see to it that our constitution is not destroyed and that our love of God and obedience to Him is not diminished. The progressives call our constitution antiquated and our faith in God silly. Don’t buy into their game. How silly and little will they look when they someday answer to God for all that they’ve ruined and all of the people they led away. There will be a price to pay for their temporary seats in power. And God’s punishment will be more just than anything man can dish up!

The destruction of the artifacts is really poignant and sad, it reminds me of the mindless violence at the WTO conferences…….destruction & chaos.
It seems that the difference between Iran and Egypt is that in Iran, there were other political choices, regardless of the US opinion of them, and the US/Obama sat passively by,
here there is nothing but Mubarek or the radical Muslims, so there really is no choice or safety valve for people.
They want Mubarek out but who is there to fill the power vacuum?
There is no one organized waiting in the wings to stage a coup or fill the void other than the Muslim Brotherhood waiting at the edge like a spider ready to take advantage of a moment of weakness and the people are not clamoring for Sharia…..
Mubarek is obviously not a positive force but amongst the “people” there is no unity and no one to replace Mubarek,
    This is the danger.

Apparently, the Muslim Brotherhood were out chanting Allah Akbhar, and a bigger group of Egyptians began chanting back, “Muslim, Christian, we are all Egyptian”
    Truely fascinating!

Yes Bush started the ball rolling when Saddam was taken out in Iraq and the seeds of democracy were sown in the Middle East. Now it seems the people of the region want to be free of the dictators who have ruled with no opposition. There is clearly a democratic revolution going on. With so many different factions this is bound to be messy, and I hope the Islamist extremists don’t fill the void. Lets hope the people of Egypt want more freedom and democracy like the opposition in Iran, and not a Islamic state. This current revolt in Egypt was sparked a few weeks ago when the Coptic Christians were killed, and both Christian and Muslin alike protested in solidarity with the Christians. Things has been escalating since.

Unfortunately, this is a no-win situation. If Mubarak implements badly-needed reforms… If America backs up a new DEMOCRATIC govt… All illusory stances.

As CURATOR points out, American CAIR activist, Ahmed Rahab, now turned “democracy” activist is in Egypt, helping organize the revolution. Why do you think Obama wanted all the communication channels back on?

I’ve seen this ruse played time and again. I call it the TAKEOVER OF OPPORTUNIST IDEOLOGIES. Corruption sets in, protests and riots ensue, and the roaches come out of the woodwork. Fox New is also falling for the “democracy/human rights” bait.

There will be no democracy in Egypt if Mubarak falls — and he most likely will. We would have to send troops in to ensure a peaceful transition to real democracy, and that will never happen under Obama. He only meddles when the outcome favors Islamists, commies and black/minority supremacists. There may be an interim period of “democratic” governance, but it will be short-lived.
I hope patriots realize that America

This revolution going on in Egypt was sparked in part by the brutal killing of Coptic Christians by the muslim Brotherhood a few weeks ago. What followed was a protest by Christians and Muslims in solidarity with the Christians, which gives us some hope that radical Islamists might not have the upper hand. This week there was a group of Muslim Brotherhood chanting Allah Akbar, but a much larger group of protesters answered back saying “we are Egyptians, Christians and Muslims, we are Egyptians” which is very hopeful. I could be wrong about ElBaradai but we shall see. It is anyones guess what happens next. I do know that Israel is very worried, as Egypt and Jordan are the only countries who recognize and have relations with Israel. We do live in very interesting times.
