Read Kirk Cameron‘s Response to Critics After Calling Homosexuality ’Unnatural’ & ‘Destructive’

Kirk Cameron Responds to Controversial Comments About Gays | GLAAD

Actor Kirk Cameron is still in the hot seat days after he appeared on Piers Morgan’s CNN program to discuss his new film “Monumental.” Cameron’s Friday interview made headlines after Morgan asked the actor about his views on controversial social issues. Aside from drawing the ire of a portion of the American public, Cameron’s comments — that homosexuality is “unnatural” and “destructive” – set off responses from fellow “Growing Pains” cast members.

(Related: Actor Kirk Cameron: Homosexuality is ‘Unnatural’ and ‘Destructive’)

On Tuesday, Cameron finally responded to the controversy on his Facebook page. In his statement, the actor explained that the CNN interview was not meant to focus on the issues of abortion, gay marriage and homosexuality, but that he was “pleased to answer Piers’ questions as honestly” as he could.

“In some people’s eyes, my responses were not sufficiently ‘loving’ toward those in the gay community,” Cameron wrote. “I can only say that it is my life’s mission to love all people, and that I expressed the same views that are expressed clearly and emphatically throughout the Judeo-Christian scriptures.”

Cameron went on to say that he has been encouraged by friends, including some who are gay, in the wake of the condemnation he has received from political and advocacy groups. He continued:

“In the case of one of my gay friends, we regularly talk and have healthy and respectful debate. We learn from each other, and serve others alongside one another. I thank God for all of my friends…even when they hold very different views on issues of faith and morality. I do not, however, believe that the right way to advance our views is to resort to name-calling and personal attacks, as some have done to me.”

GLAAD, for instance, has launched into an anti-Cameron crusade, with tweets and messaging that disparage the actor, while labeling him an “extremist.”

When it comes to free speech, the actor believes he was fully within his bounds to speak his mind in a respectful way.

“I should be able to express moral views on social issues–especially those that have been the underpinning of Western civilization for 2,000 years–without being slandered, accused of hate speech, and told from those who preach ‘tolerance’ that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I’m in the public square,” he explained.

Cameron concluded by thanking those who have encouraged him through letters. Additionally, he encouraged people to watch his new film, “Monumental.” While this note may have been odd to some — especially considering that putting in a plug for his film had nothing to do with addressing the controversy — it appeared to be an attempt to divert the conversation back to his original intention (i.e. promoting “Monumental“).

Regardless of whether one stands for or against gay marriage, there is an argument to be made that Cameron, like someone speaking out fervently in support of same-sex marriage, has every right to make his voice heard.

It amazes me to this day that people have to keep getting reminded that Jesus was the son, and Jesus invites all, but of course the Father will throw many out. Now it seems to me that marriage is the way to sanctify the enjoyment of sex which is for the purpose of bring about a common light to a couple. Therefore if people want to live in lust, then they don’t need to enjoy sex, and they don’t need privacy, and they don’t need four walls that shield them from the weather.

Alright I will tell you how first came marriage and then the enjoyment of sex. Because before first “Light” people were unto Primitive men and they mated when need be and they fought like a buck-deer over their mate. Then God scraped together the light in Adam from men and the Lord placed Adam eastward in Eden. Then God took a rib of spirit from Adam and placed it in the people Eve. And then the Lord brought Eve to Adam in Marriage, and then came about enjoyable sex. And the similar thing is shown in Genesis where the sons of God saw the daughters of men and took them as wives. But then you know what happened, men began to multiply in the earth and they became wicked, and the earth became void and without form – Like Now.

      WWJD…
5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. 8 In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings. 9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them. 17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. 20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s lov

So then it was that before Adam (and only Adam left the garden, because Eve transited back and forth to and from the garden). Before Adam and Eve took of the forbidden, they were naked and not ashamed – meaning they were of one heart and completely honest with each other. Then that damned ancient Progressive of the field got them to take the forbidden fruit, and they became ashamed of nakedness.

I am SO sick of GLADD and the other progressive left gay organizations screaming at the top of their lungs that everyone must accept gays, and a thousand other things that are somehow related to homosexuality, yet they don’t see the hypocrisy that they refuse to accept the point of view of those who disagree. I’m gay, and I won’t get into all the things I believe on the subject (they are all over The Blaze comments section), but I stand with Kirk, and Rush for that matter. Free speech is under attack in this country and we cannot let the big gay left progressive agenda silence those who have a different opinion from theirs.

I looked up “extremist” in the Liberal Dictionary for Progressive Advancement. this is what I found.

    Extremist
    — ex·trem·ist noun or adjective

1: a person or group unwilling to tolerate and accept Progressive intolerance
2: not catering our cow tailing to a fully governed and centrally controlled state where all doctrine, whether social or economic, is created at the top of a hierarchical structure and fully accepted and enforced through the entire collective

Hmpff, so now that we know what their definition of extremist is, well, it’s not so bad.

The Bible clearly tells us that they WILL be blinded by their morality in the end-times, so it may not be useful to try and direct them to the truth IF THEY ARE BLINDED TO IT. You are just wasting good air. Do other things like, LOVE THEM, but DO NOT SUPPORT THEM FINANCIALLY AND OTHER WAYS IN THE MARKET PLACE. You will only be giving them your money. I do NOT BUY COFFEE AT STARBUCK’S BECAUSE THEY ARE BIG GAY SUPPORTERS AND GIVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO GLAAD AND THE OTHERS. I only shop at stores that DO NOT PROMOTE IMMORALITY. I do not rent R rated movies and I really try to read my bible daily and pray often throughout the day. NO, I am not better than anyone else, but when God gives you instructions, I TRY TO BE OBEDIENT because, YES BECAUSE, I LOVE THE LORD WITH ALL MY HEART. If you do not love Him then you will not obey Him. Afterall, YOUR LIFE IS IN HIS HANDS, why wouldn’t you obey? Ah, I see……then I guess you’ll pay the price eternally. Very sad. Every decent Christian repeats the refrain, or at least has heard it, “Hate the sin, but love the sinner.”

Those with same sex attractions have rights to engage in any behavior they like, just like the rest of us. Everyone’s shorts are in knot because we refuse to call what is unacceptable to our beliefs, normal. We don’t call a legal union between two men or two women a marriage, because Matrimony is ordained of God as a union between a man and a woman. That is where we draw the line, and our scriptures, that we revere as true, support our belief.

Gay Rights activists seem to envision a world where all forms of sexual expression are politcally and socially accepted, nay, even encouraged. Where everyone’s child is enlightened by their understanding and version of what is good, and right. But where would they draw the line? Pedernasty, pedophilia, beastiality, and any other so-called “deviant” sexual behavior would have to be considered innate, natural, and a matter of biology just like homosexuality because otherwise, one would have to admit that choice plays a role in the development of such behavioral patterns. If that is the case, you and those of your ilk are demanding that we recognize and embrace behavioral choices contrary to God’s word.

      No.

From a faith point of view, homosexuality is destructive to one’s devotion to God and his commandments. From a non-faith point of view. Homosexuality is destructive to the propogation of the species. Kirk: 1

I must agree with you. GOD HAS GIVEN MANKIND FREE-WILL to choose. But, they are NOT to force it on the rest of us. However, I also believe that laws should not be made FOR IMMORALITY, such as abortion and gay rights. GOD GIVES RIGHTS, NOT MAN. Therefore, what God gives, he will take away in some form or another. Their spirits are not of God if they practice this perversion, but we are to pray for them that God continue to draw them to Him. HATE THE SIN, LOVE THE SINNER, is what we need to do. But, we should also be able to show them scriptures that back up the perversion as being against God. If they won’t listen, then the Bible tells us to SHAKE THE DUST FROM YOUR FEET and move on. And, do not support their lifestyles in any way. OR, that will mean you support them. Yes, you like their product, but is it worth the ire of God? Not to me. If you do support them, it would be equivalent to stepping into SODOM AND GOMORRAH and pretending it does not bother you. After awhile, YOU WILL START TO BELIEVE THE LIE.

Instead of referring to them as homosexual or gay, use “extreme sodomites” or “sodomy.” When they refer to those who disagree to their lifestyle CHOICE as homoPHOBIC refer to them as familyphobic, valuphobic, heterophobic. They too were created in the image and likeness of God. If I came across a gay person being abused by a straight person, then I would stand up for the gay person, that is what Christ would want me to do. At the same time, I will never agree with the sin of homosexuality, it is out-and-out rebellion against God (but so would seeing someone in need and not helping them be an out-and-out rebellion against God also, so if a gay person needs help, then I would help them but I wouldn’t never agree with that lifestyle).

There are many, many people who believe the same way as Kirk Cameron. I for one agree and respect him and think he was very respectful in speaking his view, unlike those who advocate for homosexuality they want to shut up any differing views and label it hate speech if you disagree.

Yes the intolerance from those who demand tolerance for themselves is quite telling.

I‘m sure you won’t put mine on your blog sight because I believe Kirk Cameron is totally right. He spoke his opinion and he has the right to do so. The Bible is very clear that both Homosexuality and Lesbianism is not OK with God. It amazes me that people still think they are smarter than God. I applaud you, Kirk, for standing up for your morals and for having the courage to not be shut up in the interest of “Political Correctness”. I agree with Kirk that we should love everyone, but that doesn’t mean we have to love what they do. God will not be mocked and the sooner the gay and lesbian community realizes that, the better off they will be as well as the better off this entire country will be.

God Forbid someone in hollyweird tell the truth about sexual deviants, ie, gays, homosexuals and whatever other PC tags they care to use.

It’s funny that they are telling Kirk he is no longer an idol, when these self serving deviants continuously worship themselves and their narcissistic behavior. They’ve broken the commandment “you shall have no other gods” by thinking they know better than God and perverting His design.

Again-as usual-only the left is entitled to have opinion. So tired of the double standard….
