Read the Powerful Letter Written by Neil Armstrong About the Bright Future of America

After praising New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for giving “one of the best political speeches” ever at the Republican National Convention during his radio show Wednesday, Glenn Beck shared an inspirational letter about America’s future and the importance of character from the late Neil Armstrong, written to one of his friend’s children in the Summer of 2008.

“Nobody talks like this any more,” Beck said. “And this is what America needs to hear.”

From Armstrong’s letter:

In my work, I depended on many people. In space flight whether it be a fellow crewman or a flight controller in mission control on earth, i was often trusting that person with my life. When you depend on others, you want to be able to trust them. You want to be able to know that they say what they mean and mean what they say. And they will want to feel the same about you. Your word should always be beyond question.

“The one thing that cannot be taken from you without your consent is your character,” Armstrong wrote.

“The 21st century has much promise. Remarkable things may be created and achieved. And each of you will have the opportunity to play a role in achieving and creating a better world. I know you will try. Good luck!! I wish I had your future,” he concluded.

Beck called the letter “incredible.” Read the entire letter, below.

What a shame that Armstrong was never honest about his lunar experiences. He would never give an interview, which in so many ways would draw out information that would never be otherwise recoverable. The “Party Man” before; sullen recluse who would answer no questions after. Something happened which changed him.

This letter is even more crushing considering that Obama canceled human space flight with nothing to replace. Now kids get to dream of being a stewardess on Virgin Airlines.

Well said. Neil Armstrong will always be the legend. He was able to tame his fame through his own self control, but he will live on forever in history. Always modest, he was a model individual. Now he is among the stars and taken his rightful place in history.

I’ll say it again. Neil Armstrong is one of my American hero’s. His achievements were inspiring. His humble, unassuming lifestyle was a testament to his character. I salute you, Commander Armstrong. Thank You.

Neil Armstrong was a true American hero. He and the rest of the crew strapped themselves to a rocket and blew themselves to the moon using technology that would be primative compared to the modern alarm clock or microwave.

    Godspeed, Neil.

I am glad this letter has come to light. Neil Armstrong’s intense passion of aircraft, not just piloting them, but also of engaging himself in the technical aspects of modern flight comes through here. One thing that his passing has done for me is to rekindle those fleeting boyhood interests of space that every kid was infected with during Gemini and Apollo. It has also inclined me look further into his life and read about his motivations.

He rightly credits his achievement as a team effort, but he was still the first man to walk upon ground not of Earth, but of someplace else. Although Aldrin has carried the PR very well throughout the years about the famous mission, when Armstrong decided to speak of it, our ears became even more keenly fixed.

These early lunar explorers, all of them, are brave heroes. But, Armstrong had to succeed first to pave the way. For if he had not, or worse, met with disaster, it may have shelved the progress toward a moon landing for decades or indefinitely.

He has made his mark in the chronicles of our times.

I was alive and watched it as it happened – lucky me.

You just contradicted yourself. I’m telling you what is going to happen in pure unadulterated language, and you‘re telling me it’s “sick diatribe”, which tells me if it was up to you, you would end it. Yet, the exact thing I’m saying is also written as such in [The same context in the Bible] but the words have been filtered through your whacko zero toleration over the years.

RIP Mr. Armstrong. He used to tool around Lebanon, Ohio, where he lived near. I saw him a few times.
I wish I had gotten his autograph when I had the chance. No one will remember any celebrity after 100 years, but they will remember the first man on the moon for a millennia.
The people at Lebanon Citizen‘s National Bank said he didn’t like people asking for his autograph.

What a great hero, humble, and a great role model. America should have a monument for all of the Apollo’s great men.

Obama on the other hand, maybe if I had a brain dead zombie daughter, maybe she would be able to grow up to be a better man than Obama.

But just remember, Neil didn’t do that, without Govt. help.
