Unions Should Learn From Russian Communists & Italian Anarchists — Says TV Host

Juan Gonzalez, who co-hosts the radio and television program Democracy Now!, gave some startling advice to the American labor movement recently.
Speaking on a panel at Stony Brook University in New York, Mr. Gonzales discussed his views on how close-minded the American labor movement has become while insinuating they should be much more accepting of the old Russian Marxist workforce and the Italian anarchist movement.
Gonzalez began by referencing third world immigrant labor in America and noting their valuable experiences when it comes to fighting for workers rights:
“You have no idea what they have gone through in their own country, what kind of struggles they already went through before they got to this country and that they have much more labor consciousness and understanding and they are bringing that here.”
The journalist, who works for a George Soros-funded organization, went on to reference the valuable additions anarchist and communists have made to the American work force and encouraged modern Labor to learn from these examples.
“They’re bringing that consciousness here like the Russian workers of the early 20th century* brought to the United States.
Like the Italian Anarchists brought to the United States. They’re bringing a whole new sense of political consciousness and class solidarity.”
The widely syndicated Broadcaster went on to scold organized labor for not including the immigrants in more leadership positions within their unions. Gonzales lamented organizers don’t want to give the immigrants “the opportunity to rise and take actual leadership within many of these Unions”:
“I think its incumbent upon conscious and progressive labor activists to help open the doors to your union and the unions that you work with to be able to provide and opportunity for these new rising leaders to play a bigger role.”
Gonzalez was featured last week on the Blaze for advocating that Progressives “reject the middle class” due to their inability to relate with “the poor and people of color.”
The lecture was well received.
You can watch part of it below:

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 3:00pmMr. Gonzales: If anarchy and Communism were so successful, why did the Soviet Union fall apart and why were so many killed under its existence ? If only they actually taught World History instead of Far Left / anti -American indoctrination in our American schools today .

Posted on July 20, 2012 at 12:29amNot sure what or how they are teaching history now, but when I was still in high school(10yrs ago), we learned how bad communism was and just how much of a negative impact it had on societies around the globe. Now, this class was taught by a teacher who dealt in teaching the facts not “standards” as the government likes to. Communism appeals to the downtrodden by promising a paradise for workers, which we all know that paradise has yet to come to fruition in any communist revolution.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 2:47pmUnions are just organized crime in disguise. They operate under RICO exemptions because their actions are indistinguishable from Racketeering. somewhere in the 20th century, the Mafia changed their name to “Unions” and went on doing business as usual.
National right to work law will put an end to Union extortion once and for all. Only 12% of all of america belongs to a union. yet they drive the cost of EVERYTHING up for the rest of us. They exist to create an unfair advantage for themselves at OUR EXPENSE. They fail to represent the political views of their members proportionately, they buy politicians, then negotiate Obscene levels of compensation with those same politicians.
Unions are criminal enterprises comprised of extortionists, and outright thuuuugs.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 1:19pmUm,… Mr. Gonzalez…
If these Communists, Marxists, and Anarchists were so effective in their labor organizing efforts in their motherlands, why in the sam hell did they feel the need to immigrate here?
That‘s always been the most ignorant part of every progressive’s argument. If the USA is so bad and capitalism is so bad and our success is so bad, why in the world is every communist worker and marxist worker and socialist activist DYING to crawl across our borders? And then when they GET HERE, they want to turn it into the sh*t-hole that they just left.
Huh?!?!?!?

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 11:23pmGood point. You describe the California Syndrome perfectly. Californians hate California, so they move to Nevada and Arizona to escape. When they get there, they continue to vote for the same crap that destroyed California and caused them to move out. On it goes, ad infinitum.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 1:13pmThis guy is fool of it, the Russian people were forced to do work that they were not trained or taught to do such as bakers and shop keepers being forced to work on collective farms. Most died of starvation or were sent to labor camps were they died of starvation or disease some were shot on site on those farms. Russian commissars would randomly grab people off the streets and send where ever labor was needed regardless of skill level and education. Heaven help you if you were educated and even worse a accountant or banker or teacher or a lawyer. This Leftist has watched to many Soviet propaganda films and as one person noted here slept through his history classes.

“they are all in cahoots today…This is an international movement. They have just started occupying America “
True for the most part. Internationally there are more communist or socialist (read communism light) leaning countries and organizations than there are free or capitalist countries. At least the important ones. List: France, England, Russia, China, Italy, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, Canada, Scandinavia and a few others. The USA has been the lone hold out that prevents the whole world from going Marxist. Now we have a leader that was raised and indoctrinated by communist parents, grandparents and Frank M. Davis. The current president is now in the process of turning the USA into a Marxist dictatorship. Whatever he wants to do he just does it and there exists nobody who can or will check his actions. That is how Obama-care and amnesty for illegals came into being. Also the takeover of certain US business (general motors etc). Now that the other nations can see that Obama is willing to go along with their Marxist plans, things will move forward very quickly, especially after he is re-elected. McCain (sorry, I meant Romney) is too weak to win the election. The UN has real dastardly plans for this planet. In the past the US was unwilling to go along with their agenda. Our POTUS is now willing to go along with the UN so look for big changes to occur for every nation on earth. Basically dictatorship coming from the UN.

You’ve gotta be freaking kidding me. Since mid-90, after a few decades of flirting with commieism lite, Canada turned into the opposite direction. Granted, the process is slower than would be my liking, but it is present and seems persistent. That is as opposed to US that has a good (or bad in this case) chance to be taken over for good (or at least for several decades) by neo-marxists.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 11:39amThe union leaders did learn from the communists — that once you get in power you hold on to it and subjugate the folks under you and collect at tithe from them by force. Isn’t that how all communist governments are run ?? The only way you leave office is by force, a coup that you don’t foresee.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 11:35amThis guy is another example of someone who slept through his history classes. The socialists DID infiltrate the labor unions back in the 1950s – and the one voice that fought tooth and nail against them was the Catholic Church. Seems that they believed that honest work gave man dignity, but Communism undermined that because it made labor slaves to the state rather than unique individuals expressing their God-given talent in the workplace. Sadly, as the church lost its voice, the Communists gained theirs and the infiltration was essentially complete by the 1970s.
