‘Ridiculous’: Megyn Kelly Panel Unanimously Condemn Anti-Ryan Hysteria By Obama Bundler

It was only a matter of time before Congressman Paul Ryan‘s selection as Mitt Romney’s Vice Presidential running mate somehow touched off a silly statement from one of President Obama’s Hollywood supporters. The fact that it happened the very same weekend that Ryan was chosen, however, must be some kind of record.
Apparently, hip hop mogul Russell Simmons has something of a problem with Ryan. Specifically, he thinks Ryan and Romney will destroy “his people.” No, literally, he said precisely that:
“So if the choice of Tea Party favorite Paul Ryan is not a wake up call to all of us to make sure we do everything in our power to re-elect Barack Obama, then the only excuse is that we forgot to set our alarm,” Russell wrote. “I will ring the alarm as loud as Beyoncé ever could and will fight to stop the literal destruction of poor people in this country. [Romney and Ryan] are two men who will destroy our people and laugh all the way to the bank with their rich friends. I pray this will never happen.”
Needless to say, the fact that Simmons is an extremely rich mogul and is still somehow claiming to speak for “poor people” is a dose of irony that is utterly lost on him.
Not so with the two Fox News contributors who appeared on Megyn Kelly’s show today. Indeed, in a rare show of bipartisanship, both the liberal guest (South Carolina Democratic Party chairman Dick Harpootlian) and the conservative one (Republican strategist Brad Blakeman) agreed that these comments were, in a word, “ridiculous.”
Harpootlian: “Hyperbole on both sides is ridiculous. We have serious problems and we don’t need this hyperbole on either side.”
Blakeman: “When this guy talks about ‘his people’ — what people? He should get in his Rolls-Royce and drive outside his mansion in Bel-Air, California, and be with his people. His people are hurting more in the Obama economy than anybody else.”

One last note, re Russell Simmons. According to Blakeman in the clip above, Simmons is worth an astonishing $340 million. This is almost $100 million more than the highest estimate of Mitt Romney’s net worth ($250 million). Who, exactly, are Simmons’ “people” again?
