‘Real History’: Ulysses S. Grant, Anti-Semitism, and Admitting Wrongdoing as President

While in command of the Union army, Ulysses S. Grant issued the most anti-Semitic order in American history; expelling Jews from Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee. After the war, when he became President of the United States, Grant apologized and worked to repair relations with the 150,000 Jewish Americans in the country at that time. Aside from recognizing a lapse of judgement in American history, reflection on that period in time is important for it shows a president that admitted past wrongs and apologized for them. In practical terms, apologies mean admission of wrongdoing – and today that translates to political liability – does it have to? Isn’t character just as important?

Watch a clip from this week’s “Real History” documentary on Grant’s apology bellow, following the video the “Real News” panel discussed whether character has become a political liability:

I understand how dedicated Glenn Beck is to Israel. As a Christian, I am too, but let us call a spade a spade so to speak when it comes to American Jews especially. It may be uncomfortable, but it is nevertheless true, the absolute majority of American Jews are liberal, some dangerously so, even to the point of actively supporting policies that are certain to erase their own homeland from the face of the earth. When a Wassreman-Schultz or Weiner or Feinstein and Ginsberg can openly support Barack Hussein Obama and a radical left agenda, it is notable not just as a personal phenomenon, but as a cultural idiosyncrasy with Marxism at its root. True, the Jewish people have given the world a great deal of genius, not all of it good, and some of it downright evil. If Israel falls, it won’t be the fault of Israelis or Christians, but of American Jews who put liberal political philosophy over everything else.

Just a little trivia. Grant’s name at birth was Hiram Ulysses Grant. He hated his name because his initials spelled Hug. When he was a boy school fellows and friends would call him Hug. He changed his name when he registered to enter West Point. He became U.S Grant. Ulysses Simpson Grant. He never explained why he choose the name Simpson.

When will Israel apologize to the U.S. for their attack on the U.S.S. Liberty?
When will Israel apologize to the U.K. for the assassination of Lord Moyne, the British minister of State in the Middle East?
When will Israel apologize to Sweden for the assassination of Folke Bernadotte, the Swedish Diplomat?
When will Israel apologize to the U.S. and the U.K. for the Lavon Affair, a false flag operation that planted bombs in U.S. and U.K. buildings in Egypt?
When will Israel apologize to Christians for having a law since the 1970′s that bans ALL proselyting and testifying of Jesus Christ in the Holy Land?

I have no love of the Palestinians or the Arabs or the Jews. Let the semite races battle it out in the desert, who cares? But I say NO AID TO ISRAEL until MY LIST is addressed! What say you, America? You can stand with Israel if you wish, but me and my family stand with the crew of the USS Liberty and the many other white victims of Talmudic Judaism the world over. The “shoah” does not give the world’s Jews the right to live like parasites off the western white man.

You Jews have your stinking little corner of the desert, and the blood of the Christians whose lives you took to get that country cry out from the ground it was spilt upon for you Jews to GO AND LIVE IN THAT COUNTRY, NOW!

Israel already apologized for the Liberty admitting it was a mistake.

Lord Moyne was assassinated by the militant group Lechi in 1944 before Israel even existed. The group no longer exists and Israel was in no way involved.

Folke Bernadotte was also assasinated by Lechi in 1948 and was subsequently BROKEN UP BY ISRAEL. Israel in no way authorized or ordered the attack, which was carried out by an independent militant group. In fact, it is unlikely the fledgling government even had the means to assassinate anyone since they hadn’t had time to even train their own military.

The Lavon Affair is essentially Israel’s Watergate, where one branch of the government illegally and without authorization engaged in tactics that they had no authority to use. In addition, those acting believed that Israel might not survive without assistance, though in 1967 they would be proven wrong.

Mistakes are made in war. People who aid the enemy need to be dealt with. Unlike the fraudulent interloper currently occupying the WH, Grant was presidential and had class.

Unfortunately the damage is done. I am sure there were people who knew what Grant was doing in Georgia. Funny how George Washington was from the South, and he gave an open invitation to Jews. then came along Grant…..

He did it for a reason, as have many other very intelligent world leaders. Reference the Évian Conference. No rational world leader wanted the cultural disruptions that always follow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89vian_Conference

Had he ordered the arrest or banishment of all smugglers then you’d be correct. But he didn’t do that. He decided that because some Jews has smuggled all Jews must suffer. It was a decision based on a collectivist mindset and he was right to apologize for it.

A friend of mine who is Jewish was about to marry a fine fellow who was a descendant of U.S. Grant. He informer her of Grant’s order before they married. I can believe Grant’s apology was sincere by looking at his descendants.

Add to that the most corrupt presidency in our history, save the present one.

Devastated Georgia as a war criminal, openly making war on civilians where that sort of activity hadn’t occurred before in the war, and burned Atlanta, to “save” the blacks, but instituted an anti-Jewish pogrom.

IT WAS SHERMAN. Grant was Uncle Billy’s boss. Sherman made his famous march through Georgia. Uncle Billy understood the concept of total war. Yes he burned, had guerrilla’s shot and his Army lived off the land. Rude, crude, cruel, all true. Sherman said war is CRUELTY. He also said I’ll make the South howl, and he did. But when a town or city would swear to return to the Union, they were than again citizens of the Union and treated as such. Yahweh grant Paradise to all those who died in that terrible war. Yahweh bless the United States Of America.

I agree that admitting wrong doing is the important. He also followed up with the his apology with action which speaks the most.

To put it in today’s political realm, Romney says he is pro life now. Up until like 10 years ago he was very much pro choice. The difference between Romney and Grant is Romney is not following up his talk with action.

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/new-obama-ad-attacks-romney-on-abortion-stance-romney-camp-false/

The Romney team took a ad which in all honestly made Romney look very conservative and called it false. Either Romney is pandering for votes or he is lying about his support for pro life.
