‘Real News’: Democrats Try to Push Social Issues to the Forefront, But Will It Backfire?

The GOP platform was released Tuesday, and while the majority of the document focuses on jobs, foreign policy and entitlement reform, the media and Democrats have predictably pounced on the party’s opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion; without making explicit exceptions for rape, incest or health of the mother.

Coming off the remarks made by Todd Akin regarding “forcible rape,” which were repudiated by most all Republicans and disassociated from by Akin himself, Democrats have made it clear that they want to bring the abortion issue to the forefront, exemplified by the announcement of new speakers at their upcoming convention, including Sandra Fluke and the leaders of Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.

But will this strategy backfire for the left?

The percent of Americans who identify as “Pro-Choice” is at a record-low, and further investigation into President Obama’s voting record on abortion may revolt some voters when they discover he voted against bans on partial-birth abortion and legislation that would protect born-alive infants that survive failed abortions.

While some conservative and libertarian pundits, in addition to liberals with no intention to vote Republican in either case, grumble that social issues are a distraction to the dire economic situation we face, could they actually end up tipping the scales toward Romney/Ryan? Evidence shows that voters do not always vote solely by their pocketbooks.

    Let the Dems take it all off and show their naked Multicultural Socialist Totalitarian Bigotry! Go for it! Islamofascist Prayer fest and all. September 11, 2001 is still fresh and so is the memory of the Hippies, Marxist march on the DNC Convention the whole world was watching, the Dem Anti-War Anti-the ManMovement, The Counter-Culture Mivement, The Jummy Carter Loving recession demolished decade of 1969 to 1979! We remember it! We lived it! We are reliving a viralent DNC financied, fueled, directed and hate filled desparate form of it since the Second Term of George Bush! America is not stupid, America is just tired, demoralized, desparate and scared. Now we are Bancrupt….yes we are. Our Entire Foriegn and Domentic Debt is 70 Trillion (17 Trillion Foreign and the rest is Domestic). What President Ronald Reagan warned us about – The 90s GOP Congress and later the Democrat Congress and Presidency has accomplished. Mythical savings, surpluses and balanced budgets! Federal cooked books by both Parties! Federal Corruption and the dissolution of our Sovereignty and Financial Stability for the chains of endentured servatude to crumbling Global Banking. Yup…..George the Firsts “New World Order” finished with a Marxist Twist. Let the DNC finally cat the crap and let it all hang out baby! Dont let a good crisis go to waste!     Might as well. The GOP and the DNC agree we must keep borrowing money(granted they argue what to spend it on, but none the less they are the same on that). The agree on being the policemen of the world. They agree that the Constitution is worthless and it can be trashed to save us.

    I would say the only real social issue they will argue over is abortion really but with Romney’s past with that subject I dont see him putting up much of a fight. Basically the debates are going to be boring because these two men agree on all the major issues.

    No it will not backfire. People really believe the Republican party wants to outlaw contraception and will vote Democrat because of it. The Republicans have also got to do something about the narrative as the party of exclusion. Stop assuming all blacks, gays, Latinos, poor people, old people, etc. are all Democrats and feature the ones who are not. Great move on Paul Ryan’s part by bringing out his mother. The RNC was in Allen West‘s home state and he’s not speaking. Was he even asked? Why do we continue to feed the perception of conservatism being nothing but old men?

      Conservatives are NOT against contraception. They are against having to pay for contraception for people too stupid or cheap to purchase it themselves.       You know that’s not true, I know that’s not true, but read people’s blogs, Facebook posts, Twitter posts, etc. and that is the prevailing belief among young people. There is a big messaging fail on the GOP’s part.

    I hope it backfires. People are too busy minding other peoples’ business, anyway. I even hated Sociology in college. It is a bunch of bull. Who cares. People should do what the 10 Commandments says and there would be no Social Issues. People want to do as they please and not be considerate of others, their children suffer, others try to help the children and the elderly, but those who are selfish steal the fool right out of the mouths of those who cannot fend for themselves. These are the fringes who have somehow concluded they have a right to murder babies and abandon old people, so they can live like hedonists. These people are the Democrat Party for the most part who I am describing. Those who are not are just sneaky hypocrits who should be in the democrat party. We do not want them.
