‘Real News From The Blaze:’ Akin Comments Ignite Media and Democrat Frenzy

The deadline for Republican candidate Todd Akin’s withdrawal from the race for U.S. Senate in Missouri has come and gone, and the six term congressman has made it clear that he will be moving forward with his campaign–whether or not he’s backed by the national party, conservative media and Romney/Ryan ticket.
Since Akin made his “legitimate rape” comment–for which he has disavowed– Democrats and liberal commentators have piled on the Missouri Congressman and GOP as a whole, using the gaffe to shift the focus of the national discussion to women’s issues and specifically abortion. The Democratic National Convention outlined this strategy with the announcement of ten new women speakers Wednesday, including Sanda Fluke, Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Cecile Richards, and President of NARAL Pro-Choice America Nancy Keenan.
Will this line of attacks backfire for the left though? Is it honest to connect the legitimate sides of debate around the Abortion issue, to Akin’s comments which he himself has said was a mistake? Democrats and some in the media have mentioned the two issues in the same breath, hyperbolizing what might be a legitimate argument against abortion even in the case of rape and incest.
On “Real News” Wednesday the panel discussed whether the national media is muddying the waters in what is and is not a legitimate issue on the Abortion debate. The panel also took on the very sensitive question: is there a legitimate argument to be had against abortion in the case of rape?

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 9:12amGuess what, Verseoftreason, I‘m a RepubliCAN and I clearly don’t think that way. Your hasty generalizations are stupid at best.
I don’t believe what this Neanderthal said about not getting pregnant during rape, nor do the vast majority of RepubliCANs. I had a close relative raped. She had to live with that horror of wondering if she would become pregnant. I would not wish that experience on anyone. What he said was extremely insensitive and was what I would count on as an extreme brain fart.
I believe in choice. In other words, if the woman chose to have sex, then she should be ready to take the child to term. If the case was rape, incest, or real peril to the life of the mother, then abortion should be a viable option. Not all feel this way, but many do. Many believe that life begins at conception. Much of it is grounded in their religious beliefs which I will respect.
Now, would I vote for him over, say, someone who had voted for euthanizing babies born alive during an abortion procedure because the mom didn’t want the inconvenience and was too selfish to allow the baby to be adopted (a la Obama)? Or would I vote for him over an “alleged” rapist and serial molester (Clinton)? Or an “alleged” cowardly murderer (Teddy Kennedy)? Yes! When you DemagogueRATS get someone with any amount of moral fiber running, then you can start judging us. Until then, you remain morally bankrupt and void of any room to talk.

After reading countless comments on many topics. From racial slurs to people being plane mean. I finally found the one that hit the nail on the head. Middle Eastern women being told when to procreate. Where did that come from, Reids source? Probably made to stir the pot is all but wow. Do you even know where the ME is? Can you find it on a globe? That’s the round spinny map. You are probably not even party associated. Just like to make derogatory remarks. But I wanted to say thanks for clearing it up for me. Who would be the most delusional that I would run across on these boards. I mean try and get close to the topic atleast. Not rainbows and lollipop world. You might want to try wrapping tin foil around your head. It helps with reception and keeps you from floating off as well. You should also visit the ME and talk to the women before assuming. I have and they are really nice people. With there own free will. Unlike some that have voices giving them instructions to spurt jiberous randomly. But again I have to say thanks for clearing up the million dollar question I have had.

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 12:55amPoor guy. Let’s face it, men and female problems of such are not men’s specialty to talk about or understand. 40 years ago it was believed by physicians that the trauma of rape would keep a woman from ovulating. Also, many women would not be in the few fertile days of the month. They had also used studies that showed xxx number of rapes with no pregnancies to back up their medical ideas. This poor guy, Akin, is 65 years old. He probably read something 40 years ago, and since the medical concerns of women are not his specialty, he had probably not read or heard much about it in 40 years. That would describe most men. Geez, if I had a really bad day at work, and told any of the business owners that I worked with that it was that time of the month, any one of them would have turned red and changed the subject. Akin has a B.S. in Management Engineering, not Gynecology. His business and military experience, plus his solid Christian background, and Constitutional knowledge make him an excellent person for Congress. IT WILL BE A SHAME IF AN EMBARRASSING SLIP OF A COMMENT REGARDING A 40 YEAR OLD MEDICAL IDEA OF “LEGITIMATE RAPE” WILL KEEP ANYONE FROM VOTING FOR HIM. LET THOSE AMONG US WHO HAVE EVER PUT OUR FOOT IN OUR MOUTH BE THE FIRST TO FORGIVE AND FORGET THIS GAFFE.

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 3:00amI relaize that everything that has been thought of to say to smear this guy has probably already been posted or inferred at this point but I chime in now for whatever good it will do. I am surrounded by medical professionals in my family and have conversations a lot about what they have been taught and learned over the years in practice. Also, with rape being more common with women than many people realize (typical male does not realize that over half of the women he knows in life have been whether statutory or other), there is a lot of misconceptions out there about a very big nasty topic.
The body’s defense mechanism comes from severe psychological trauma causing such a physiological response that it causes muscles in the female to constrict to the point of remaining that way for years, in that area, until they can psychologically recover and when, if ever be able to trust a man again to the point that they could enjoy a relationship. This constriction in cases of “authentic” nonconsentual intercourse (rape) still does not prevent a microscopis swimmer from travelling where it can get. I.U.D.s rely on changing the ph in the uterus but this is not been found to happen under the sever psychological duress that causes the physiological response that would prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. Because it would take an intercourse of a woman vehemently against her will, there is no way they could do a lab study to see if it happens but evidence to this point…

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 3:09am…does not support the argument that mechanisms are in place if the rape is “authentic”. The rape victims I know personally take offense to those people who say there is no difference between statutory rape and others which are differentiated in courts and by law. As teenagers who could get excited and both consent, there would not be such a physiological response since pyschologically, both kids likely wish to proceed with an encounter. Bottom line is that if it is truly against a woman’s will, she will suffer for years and perhaps the rest of her life because of some punk waste of oxygen walking around preying on women thinking only about his next opportunity to dominate and take what is not his or has not been freely given with love and intent by a woman in a relationship with him. The “mechanism” is a defense mechanism very much like the reflex of the throat muscles when you are drowning and your throat constricts to prevent water from entering into your lungs in vain. Your lungs will still fill with water despite your bodies attempt at preventing it. This female mechanism does not do anything that would prevent pregnancy, only prevent pleasurable experiences indefinitely. It is not the baby’s fault but I could never ask a woman who had been through such an ordeal to go through the pregnancy and carry the child and give birth to it if she could not psychologically endure it. As a man I can only imagine how difficult the idea of doing so would be much less the act i

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 3:27amSure, ideally we could save the child and provide it a loving home to loving mom and dad who can‘t naturally procreate but a surrogate would likely end up being the best route if we could ever transplant a viable fetus whose placenta had already attached to the victim’s uterus. Yet another traumatic event to have to endure. We would be looking at more suicidal women, I believe if abortion for “authentic” rape victims was outlawed and we should be considering all ramifications as possible (suicide, infanticide) and that if a woman does abort and realizes later what exactly a “doctor” does to kill the fetus. You have to think at some point, “hasn’t the woman been through enough yet?” There was information out there sustaining these things, lots of it, just none of it actually preventing a pregnancy due to “authentic” rape. They are probably more rare but what else is disturbing is that the wimp in cheif says we must not “slice” up the abortion issue granting permissions for some and not for others. Interesting that he chose to use the word “slice” considering what is done to a fetus. False allegations of rape may be higher or lower than what we see reported and it is difficult to tell if an allegation is “authentic” without being able to read minds and know for sure when someone is lying. In the military, if you stand accused of rape, the man is guilty until proven innocent. It is best to not be a “one night stand” guy. For non “authentic” allegations, “He

Akin spoke out of ignorance and is not a medical professional. We have a lot of politicians who are not medical professionals that “know” what’s best for us and our bodies. I find his ignorance as offensive as Nancy, Harry, and all the others (notice how the wimp in cheif made sure that he was never at the center of blame for this stewpudd bill/law so he could dodge blame as much as possible) and their ignorance regarding health seeing they seem to only know what their yoga instructors or the “first woman” tells them to believe about it. Nanny Bloomberg is another insane one. They said the same thing about Dr. Atkins who had a healthy heart and died having slipped on ice on his sidewalk striking his head. Senator John Barrasso is one of the few intelligent authentic (I can use that word thoroughly correctly in this context) doctors that is in politics and he with the others all stood against obamacare atrocity only to be steamrolled by ignorant libs. “The problem isn’t that our liberal friends know so much, it‘s that they know so much that isn’t true.” Akin should have stepped aside and backed the next best TEA candidate. Posted on August 23, 2012 at 4:03amTX Lady, I do hope this turns out to be a good decision on his part to remain the candidate but I fear this particular gaffe will continue to be the main talking point of the national media and even adversely affect other candidates’ races. I know I am not without a plethora of my own gaffes. I could never be a politician because I could never be politically correct enough (which I find offensive anyway as it is what is dividing and killing us as a nation and I find it discriminates agains those who are not politically correct). How can the same people pointing fingers at him still ignore theirs who say we have to pass a bill to find out what is in the bill or that if we put any more soldiers on the island of Guam, it will flip over? How about the ones who claim they didn’t understand the taxcode they helped write or are running the fed and have to use Turbotax in order to do their own taxes? There is far more ignorance on the liberal side of the aisle than there is on the conservative side. Akin should (since he remains committed to this course of action) have a long sitdown with perhaps Sen Barrasso and hammer out sex ed from beginning to end on how we understand things presently and what has been changed bringing him up to speed on current understanding (which doesn’t necessarily mean it is correct) and demonstrate the he misunderstood and try to explain how that combined with his misspeaking, clarify and make closure so that the discourse can move on.

Both were conservative enough for me, and I had been turned off by John Brunner’s early blitz of ads attacking them. The two things that tipped the scales in favor of Steelman were (1) Sarah Palin’s endorsement and (2) McCaskill’s ad that painted Akin as a right-wing extremist who was too conservative for Missourians. In regard to the latter, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvHNhiC-49k my gut feeling was that McCaskill would prefer to face Akin over either Brunner or Steelman, and was trying to siphon conservative votes away from them.

Next – it seems Akin was medically correct, despite the non-substantiated feminist blather that has been spewed. From New England Journal of Medicine, A.N. Groth, Sexual DyFORBESSunction [sic] During Rape, Oct. 6, 1977, p.764-6:
“Finally, factor in what is certainly one of the most important reasons why a rape victim rarely gets pregnant, and that’s physical trauma. Every woman is aware that stress and emotional factors can alter her menstrual cycle. To get and stay pregnant a woman’s body must produce a very sophisticated mix of hormones. Hormone production is controlled by a part of the brain that is easily influenced by emotions. There’s no greater emotional trauma that can be experienced by a woman than an assault rape. This can radically upset her possibility of ovulation, fertilization, implantation and even nurturing of a pregnancy. So what further percentage reduction in pregnancy will this cause? No one knows, but this factor certainly cuts this last figure by at least 50 percent and probably more.”

Finally, it seems Akin received significant funding FROM THE RATZ, who saw him as their preferred (and possibly beatable) opponent. This perhaps explains why the GOP so instantly threw Akin under the bus – they were just looking for, HOPING for, any chance to get rid of him.
If so, this is yet another example of the Karl Rove “eat your own young” behavior seen against Christine O’Donnell, who was ELECTED BY THE VOTERS to be their GOP candidate …. but was NOT the candidate Rove demanded the people accept …. so, the night after the election, Rove went on national TV (FOX News) and literally DESTROYED the GOP’s own candidate, ending any chance she had to defeat the Rat candidate in November.
Thanks, Rove – this assured the Ratz held on to Congress, assured all of OBastards’ subsequent legislation would slither thru, and assured there would be zero fiscal reform.
Getting to dislike the GOP establishment almost as much as the communists on the left …..

Posted on August 23, 2012 at 4:24amThere is no way they can accurately test the theory anyway since it would require traumatizing a woman for life and having all oif the necessary details in place to see if the psychological trauma triggered enough of a physiological response to prevent fertilization and implantation. The only thing sure in “authentic” rape or nonconsentual intercourse is that it will both physiologically and psychologically affect the female victim for years if not the rest of her life making a truly trusting relationship with a man something that will be very difficult to ever attain again. I do not see how we could ever ethically test such a theory in the real world. Since the engineer in him makes him analytically decide that his record of being right far outweighs his one mistake of a gaffe and that he cannot step aside and back someone else because of one mistake, however big, he should show his desire to get his facts straight by clarifying with a current sex ed class (yes this would be humiliating but what pennance isn’t?) so he is able to then debate and operate with recent relevant data. He needs to show a willingness to correct his misunderstanding of women and consequences of rape as we currently understand it or he will end up being used as a mop by Clair McCaskill (sp?) thus losing the seat which we need. She is an idiot but right now because of his gaffe, he now appears more of an idiot than she does. Gotta do damage control and rectify his misconceptions. He is simply wrong.

Posted on August 22, 2012 at 8:13pmWhen you itemize each life/sexuality issue and argue solely on the individual merits, what you‘ll find is that it’s difficult to uphold one and attack another.
The only legitimate argument for being Pro-Life is the dignity of the human being, something the left and big government champions don’t understand. I say legitimate because it’s the only argument the pro-abortion apologetic doesn’t have an argument against.
Start the argument with the axiom. Human life is sacred/special/valued, pick an adjective. The founding fathers understood that we’re “endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights.” That’s very difficult to argue against, because it’s rooted in natural law/absolute truth.
From that, define human life. Human life begins with the fertilization of a human egg by a human sperm. This is a basic fact of science, biology. The pro-abortion advocates refuse to acknowledge this fact, because with it they’ve lost the argument.
Put the two together, and it’s the reason why medically induced abortion is wrong, always.
Yes, rape is a terrible situation, but ending the life of a human being does not somehow undo the abhorrent act.
The other thing pro-life individuals need to learn to do is to give a tongue lashing to anyone that asks about “rape and incest.” Incest is a softball question, smash it out of the park. There are HUNDREDS of cases where a (step) father, coach or male figure repeatedly rapes a girl, and abortion allows for them

I am sure the amount of certain story types we see here repeated daily is an example of how quickly the MSM has been able to get some agents within the organization. I have a set of beliefs and enjoy discussing them to some degree with the blogosphere here but after seeing the fall of Fox from what people expected of them, fair and balanced and all, for what they really are with a few exceptions, that they are actually slightly left of center, the rest of the MSM calls them right wing simply because of how far left the Overton window has been moved. Who would have thought O’Reilly would come out against SEMIAUTOMATICS? Bolt action pistols anyone? Revolvers are essentially SEMIAUTOMATICS. This is ludicrous. MSM makes those sound as if they are the same by highlighting the fact that they used a semiautomatic weapon but never that if a legal CC holder would have been present with a SEMIAUTOMATIC, that person could have put them down with a, yes, SEMIAUTOMATIC. We are abandoned by Fox more and more on a daily basis after Rupert got paddled by Parliament and likely people here on this continent also. I can tolerate and respect those of different diverse beliefs but when we have a concentrated demographic of those who are in the minoroty groups actually providing the news, it becomes propaganda whether or not it is intentional.
