‘Real News From The Blaze’: Al Qaeda Presence in Iraq Strengthening

The resurgence of Al Qaeda in Iraq since the U.S. withdrew combat troops last December has been discussed on ‘Real News’ before. On Thursday, the world saw the latest development in the disturbing trend as Al Qaeda militants took down an Iraqi army helicopter during clashes that have killed at least 19 people including 11 policemen. According to recent reports, the radical group in Iraq is looking to expand its attacks to the US mainland.

Intelligence officials tell the Los Angeles Times that the group released a message this week in which it threatened to strike at the “heart” of the United States. Several associated groups have been arrested in the U.S. and Canada in the past 2 years.

On ‘Real News‘ Thursday the panel discussed whether this is a true indication that Al Qaeda in Iraq is gaining in strength and capable to carry out their threats.

Is anyone rreally surprised by this news? We cannot be the police of the world any more. I was for the war when we invaded, but I just think our greatest national security threat is not from what a tiny group of terrorists might do, but rather what a large group of Americans are going to do when Marshall Law must be declared in our own country when the impending financial meltdown will occur. WE CAN’T PAY FOR THIS ANY MORE! What would happen if we brought all our military assets home and decided to defend our own borders, rather than defend every other country’s borders?

The Iraqis do not understand democracy nor freedom. Such governments are not the norm in the Middle-east. Israel has a democracy but their population is mainly western or westernized. Middle-easterners and Africans are either very theocratic or tribal. When obama pulled out the troops I knew Iraq would eventually fall into chaos again….it’s inevitable. Obama lost Iraq. He will lose Afghanistan if he stays in office long enough. Hell….he is destroying the US;….should be expect him to save Iraq?In his eyes….he has saved Iraq. He is a Muslim.

Obama, drone killing > Bush, Water-boarding.

Obama pulling out of Iraq kills more people than Bush. We are repeating history on this one and we know/knew exactly what will happen in Iraq.

How come the Obama sheep don’t see this???

Al Qaeda re-emerging in Iraq…yeah, DUH! This is what happens when you don’t have the stomach or the political will to win a war against an insurgency. It is dirty business and you need to maintain the initiative. You cannot give the enemy the advantage at every turn, telegraph your every intention and hope to gain a victory. The Iraqis were not and ARE NOT ready to insure their own security. It was only a matter of time before AQI stepped up their operations.

We need to re-sieze the initiative now, engage AQI, grab them by the nose and beat them down like the dogs they are. Our response should be immediate, violent and over whelming. That said, we as a nation do not have the intestinal fortitude to accomplish this. Our current president and his administration (kiss a** joint chiefs included) are incapable of constructing a cogent counter -insurgency plan and if they did, would not be able to implement it. In order to do either of these tasks you would first need to have a realistic understanding of the threat. Our current national command authority has neither the experience nor the commitment necessary to keep us safe. We are the big dog in the park, but we let the little dogs intimidate us into inaction for the sake of appeasement. When we fail to protect ourselves (and our friends) overseas we send a clear message to our enemies. Unless we change this paradigm we WILL suffer another attack on our soil. Our lack of commitment is going to be very costly.

    Clintonesque Nation Building leads to???

I mourn the deaths of ALL OUR Servicemembers. That Iraq was just given over like a worn out toy to the poor kid on the block – smacks me in the face. It really does. So all those men and women who died in Iraq are somehow…erased? Not forgotten-we still are allowed our Parades…but somehow, Iraq is just forgotten. Ask any average Joe on the street WHERE Afghanistan is {roughly} located and they HAVE NO FRIGGIN CLUE.
A young co-worker of mine just got accepted into the Air Force. He’s a poor kid-got a donated computer right along with my daughter from the local Rotary Society. His hopes for College hinge on Service. I WILL {not just me-but the whole friggin company will “adopt” wherever he goes} hold him close to my heart.
Obama GAVE all away what was purchased with American blood.

Comrades, just what did you think would happen? There is no history of freedom or traditions of freedom in the Middle East, except for Israel, and most of those folks came from our civilization.
If we had stayed there for decades, like we did in Germany and Japan, they can learn freedom, although with Islam, they will never be able to actually practice it because their religion enslaves both their bodies and their minds.

While cooling my heels in a waiting room, I picked up the July 23rd cover story in Time magazine about suicide in the military. One of the bits of information in the story tangential to the suicides was that a young West Point graduate & helicopter pilot was based at a camp in Iraq in 2011 which was hit every day by mortar fire. That is telling.

Under Bush things were getting better. Under Obama thing have gone to heck. I blame the liberals. You know who you are.

We have the Obama administration to thank for this. Remember when the Commander-in-chief of our military forces, president Obama, announced in the media our departure date ? A real big LEAK ?? Is that a normal military action ? To tell your enemy when you will stop fighting ? Isn’t that this like the rest of the media “leaks” which these Obama jerks have made ? No Special Prosecutor ? Diane Feinstein ? Been threatened ? Someone with the guts to face the Democrat Character Assassination Squad, needs to investigate / publicize this . Superman , where are you ?

Diane Feinstein is too busy flipping the pages of a Shotgun magazine designating assault weapons based on color, hand grips or bayonet lugs. By liberal logic all those things make those weapons “more automatic”. She does all this while she has a CCW.

Come on a rich girl has got to have something to play with like our 2nd Amendment rights & the countries fate. After all a nice girl married to a rich man is entitled to a little cerebral exercise.

You mean, we pulled the GI’s out and Al Qaeda is still there. But Obama and Ron Paul said that Al Qaeda was ONLY there because EVIL America INVADED. They PINKY SWORE that if we left Iraq, Al Qaeda would go away.

Al Qaeda is in Syria & we were never in Syria. Lib logic not comporting with reality is no problem. It just strengthens their argument (in their eyes) & their resolve.

Granted, “neo-cons” by definition being former libs, I doubt they would encourage their kids to actually fight in a war. But i certainly have no issues with it. My son recently deployed and I’ve been there twice (both theaters)…prior to retiring, but something tells me you didn’t make the trip…right? It’s OK other folks have carried the water for mopes like you for centuries. You’re welcome. if you haven’t done sh*t towards winning this fight quit whining. I don’t need you to speak for me or my son, and I doubt many other OIF/OEF vets do or would either. Your little avatar tells me everything I need to know. When you come back to reality, give us a call.

You are right it does breed more terrorists if we 1/2 a $$ it.

Oh wait we did 1/2 a $$ it, because 1/2 the time people like George Bush is in charge & the other half of the time a ferocious naked mole rat like person such as Obama is in power. Just remember a person can be a vicious political opponents willing to pervert the AG, police & IRS to go after their political opponents but are paper tigers on the international stage. You got Obama over any Republican; now you enjoy Obama as your Prez!

The Sunnis were with us after the Sunni Awakening. Enough prominent Sunnis died proving that. We left them just like we left the Montagnards & South Vietnamese. Thanks Democrat Congress cowards & Obama.
