It’s no secret that voters are unhappy with Congress, and what goes on in Washington D.C. as a whole. With both houses appearing more willing than ever to shamelessly kick the can down the road until after the election, the nation is certain to face heated debate and once again be put on a ledge to solve the looming “Taxmageddon.”
Aware that the congressional session at the end of the year following the election will be as frenzied as ever, Lobbyists are taking their vacation now. David Williams of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance was a guest on “Real News” Thursday where he joined the panel to discuss the current lame duck Congress, entrenched lobbying interests in Washington, and term limits:

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 3:28pmThere is such a thing as bieing to comfortable. If a person has been elected into office time and time again they might not be doing the job they are elected to do with the hunger that a limit would bring so they wouldn’t work as hard to make real changes now. You need to put some fire under they’re a%% to make them be an asset so we end up with biusness as usual and a slow moveing government. A Democrisy by it’s very nature need fresh, new, idea‘s to get the voter’s wanting to look at and listen to someone who want’s to make the desition on new and improved Legislation. We the voter‘s shouldn’t get comfortable with the good old boy’s ideolegy. The limit‘s need not end a person’s usefullness in that mabee a person need’s to skip a turn in running. So the limit can be on consequtive turm‘s so they can wait this one out and then give them the abilety to do more investigation and reserch on bill’s so that we are voteing for people who have all the fact’s thus makeing the legislation they suport or dinounce a more informed desition thus more potant and usefull aand not predictable. Voteing should be a right that we are more informed and thus the voter is more involved in the runnig of our country’s affect on not only us but being that we are American the world. The citesen‘s of a country should know they’re vote is important and not a multipale chioce.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 12:14pmThere was a time when our represenatives went to Washington to “Serve The Prople” not so anymore, as time has gone by the represenatives have become career politicians and as for serving, well lets just say that has become a joke within the beltway. Time is well past due on term limits and lobbist should be outlawed.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 12:54pmWell said as the Republicans have been lame duck for the last 4 years. We have the worst politicians money can buy. And who can buy them…. the wealthy and large corporations. Any wonder why the tax policies favor these two groups.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 11:50amPoliticians have been saying for years that having term limits is not a good idea because it takes time for them to get experience and to build up relationships to get money for their districts.
We have known for years now thatthat is a freaking lie. The longer they stay in office, the more arrogant they get and the less representation we get. They also steal more money the longer they are there.
Just look at the likes of Rangel, Waters, Frank, Murtha, Seabrook adn many more. They are thieves and we can’t get rid of them.
We also need to lower their salaries dramatically and cut their staff and expenses. That will get only people who truly want to help this country and not people who wants to get rich.
There are 100 Senators in congress. EVERY last one of them is a millionaire. Coincidence. I think not, they are mostly crooks and have gotten rich in their office. A law to make insider trading was just passed recently. They were allowed to buy stocks while voting on lawa that would have an effect on those stocks.
Hard to believe they haven’t had a law on that until now. We need to get a whole new congress and even local politicians and take the money out of working in politics. We need regular people to do the job.

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 12:46amWe need term limits and pay for performance in what is being done not just promises. We have a lame duck congress and senate because we have a lame brain president who is bent on taking this country down. I don’t believe in reincarnation but I swear Hitler has come back to life or they kept his brain and did a transplant.

Posted on April 19, 2012 at 10:47pmTerm limits will just increase the power of the permanent class in DC. The lobbyists and professional staffers will have all of the power because they will quickly become the only people in town who have a clue about what’s going on,
Report Post »Also, we don’t want to throw out a good Congressman like Paul Ryan or Senator like Marco Rubio with arbitrary term limits.
Finally, the cause of the mess we are in now is voiters inability to judge their representative. If the average voter has to start over every 4 years, the quality of the fields will drop markedly I think.

Posted on April 19, 2012 at 10:58pmProbably the biggest mistake I ever made voting (other than Nixon) was voting for term limits in California. I firmly believe that a lot of the California problems began when the legislature was more influenced by lobbyists than before because there was a constant rotation of leadership. Just when someone learned the ropes, out they went with term limits and a rookie “leader” took their place. That was the beginning of gridlock in California. Oh yeah, to you California haters, EffYou too….

I see so many hateful things about California that I snicker when I see a whole town of rednecks is wiped out by a tornado or Texas being on fire again…I’m so glad I live where I do!
