Prior to Wednesday night, discussion on foreign policy had been largely absent at the Republican National Convention and throughout much of the primary campaign. However, powerful speeches by former Republican Presidential Candidate Sen. John McCain and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have brought renewed debate on whether President Obama has led from behind on the international stage, and what presence the United States should have in the world if Mitt Romney is elected president.
In addition to foreign policy, Rice’s remarks have received bipartisan praise for reverence in discussing 9/11, calls for energy independence, and addressing the need for reform in America’s failing public schools.
