‘Real News From The Blaze’ Discusses the Tragedy in Aurora, Colorado

The country awoke this morning in horror to learn of the massacare that took place at a Colorado movie theater during the midnight premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises.” To recap what has been confirmed:
- 12 people were killed and over 70 shot, including a 12-month and 6-year-old, by 24-year-old suspect James Holmes at an Aurora movie theater midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
- Holmes allegedly entered the Denver suburb theater from a back door about 30 minutes into the film, hurling gas canisters into the crowd before opening fire. Holmes was dressed in all black, wearing a “ballistic helmet,” a buller proof vest, a gas mask and protective gloves.
- Holmes was arrested near a car behind the theater, where he was found with a gas mask and an assault rifle, shotgun and two pistols
- Police believe the shooter acted alone and is not part of a terrorist group.
- Holmes was a neuroscience doctoral student at the University of Colorado-Denver, until recently dropping out.
There have been some unconfirmed reports that the gunman had painted his hair red or orange, and called himself the Joker. An official who spoke with the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity said police found jars of chemicals in Holmes’ booby-trapped apartment with wires nearby.
The attack is one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent U.S. history.
Law enforcement expert Tim Dimoff joined “Real News” at the top of the show to discuss what security improvements can be implemented moving forward after this horrible tragedy:

EVERYONE AGREES that if there were concealed/carry in that theater the GUY would be dead. Where did he get his heavy duty gear??? who outfitted him???? those are questions the blaze can look into as opposed to this gossipy huffpo type article.

Seems to me the solution to this type of crime is obvious, someone else needed to be packing some heat. If an establishment is going to prohibit patrons a means to defend themselves,(Gun Free Zone) then shouldn’t they be held accountable for the death and mayhem that ensued.

They live in a constant state of fear that hallucinating that everyone is following them or there is a huge world wide plot against them. And that’s what makes it so scary. They really think they are the only sane one and anyone trying to help is on the other side.
It’s usually family members they kill. There was a special on this awhile back. The family members were living in complete terror. One husband kept trying and trying to have them commit his son. He kept saying his son would kill someone……and sure enough he did – his mother.
Unless he’s psychotic, once this guy gets some medication, he’s going to “snap out of it” and realize what he’s done.

Posted on July 21, 2012 at 9:13amMy sister suffered from a chemical embalance in her brain. She was diagnosed as Schizophrenic. The huge problem with this disease is that they refuse to take the medications. She was in and out of Psychiatrist offices, hospital wards that would treat her for a week and then have to let her out. She got out and stopped all medications. She finally put a bullet in her head when she was 33 years old. There is no hope for people unless somehow they get well enough to know they need the lithium or whatever. I don’t see that happening.

For those of us who know people with schizophrenia, we can tell you that their families try very, very hard to get them help and have them committed to facilities where they can be treated.
We can also tell you why despite recording a person’s threatening phone calls and despite a judge ruling this person is a danger and despite even being committed, the person is back on the street.
Why? Because once the medication makes them close to normal – it’s like day and night – our system is set up to then release them, or a lawyer comes in and offers to get them out. Never mind that schizophrenics are paranoid about taking medication and won’t take it if they are not supervised. And no matter how much we jump up and down and keep telling anyone who will listen that they will do something someday, we are told there is nothing they can do if the person has not done anything yet.
THAT’S the problem. Our overreaction to psychiatric abuses in the past means that we can no longer commit the truly mentally ill.

How can the safety and right to live of many citizens be weighed against the rights of a person with a mental problem be “ free” to go untreated and to be a threat to fellow citizens ? I can see the opposite danger with a crew like the Far Left Obama people ( who have already used the IRS / DOJ to ” possibly pressure opponents ) to use this same “ mental” issue to lock up their political opponents . Touchy and difficult issue….

Happens a lot in psychiatry–doctors who are bi-polar, schizophrenic, etc., brilliant and get drawn into study in the field in order to figure out themselves. Don’t know if it is a prevalent now, but it used to be!
Praying for the families of those who have died, for those in the hospital and under doctors’ care, and for those who went through this “insane” experience. Also remembering the entire human race in my prayers–EVIL IS REAL, and one can “embrace it” or it can “take over” someone, and sometimes there’s just no explanation on this side of heaven.
Lord, be with us, and instead of us pointing fingers at each other, may we come together and work through the rediculousness of this type of occurence!

I turned 36 today…I had a lady who lived on the other side of the hill, show-up at my house believing she was her brother that passed away.I gave her a ride home that night… Before I went to sleep that night I told God I knew what it was like to experience almost everthing but I couldn’t imagine what crazy was like…One week later I was up state in the mental-hospital in the same unit she was in…I once told God that Jesus wasn’t qualified to judge me because he had never walked in my shoes…God said you are right my son
