‘Real News From The Blaze’: Drone Cops and the Fourth Amendment

Earlier this year, a farmer in North Dakota became one of the first U.S. citizens arrested based on what a law enforcement drone observed as it traversed his private property after a dispute with a neighbor over cattle. A judge is due to make a decision soon, but the case has ignited a debate over the 4th amendment; “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated…” As recently as last week, Congressman Ted Poe introduced legislation to put some limits on the use of domestic drones before U.S. airspace is opened up to more than 30,000 drones in the next eight years.
Privacy rights activists are very concerned about the use of domestic drones, raising questions about where use of the technology will be limited. Others have said, if you’re not guilty, you should have nothing to fear.
On ‘Real News’ Wednesday the panel examined the case in North Dakota, the proposed legislation by Rep. Poe, and the argument on whether certain uses for these drones come in conflict with the 4th amendment.

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 9:50pmDo you realize the stress levels on the citizens of this country for the past 31/2 to 4 years? It has been a continuous onslaught of one terrible affront after another, along with the continued loss of freedoms, lies, the cronieism, the back door deals, the divisive hate speech, the outsourcing of jobs to other countries, the humongous increases of rules & regulations hampering every type of business in this country from banking to guitars to restauranteurs, the trucking industry you name it are all affected! The pressures on religion now, not to mention the cramming down our the throats of the hellthcare bill, dodd frank and a host of things! No budgets! Crooked back door deals to manipulate! Manipulating congress to desiminate our protection through the pentagon and destroying the military backbone! Damage done to the elderly, taking away huge sums from them promised to medicare then freezing the cost of living for 3 years, while giving all govt employees huge salary increases bonuses! Then the huge increases in the insurance taken off the top of their monthly retirement which looks to increase agian the first of the year it has gone from $74 in 2010 to $125 in 2013 and up to $246 by 014 doubling in a year tripling in 3! The situation concerning the energy production in this country or the lack of it: killing the coal industry, doing nothing with drilling of oil or nuclear. Sure there is more! Unbelievable Stress thanks to obama!

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 9:28pmGasp! Shock and dismay! (sarcasm)
Congrats “conservatives”. In your zeal to support GWB and the Patriot Act along with your lust to get “terrorists’ and be safe…you aren’t safe and now YOU are the terrorists! Woohooo!!!!
Yes, I plan on going over to HuffPo at some point in the (near?) future when the government goes full totalitarian and mock them and how they are shocked at why the government isn’t providing justice and peace and fairness to all. Ha, that will be a hoot too!
On a sidenote, another little irony is that many on this board prattle on about the “thin blue line” that keeps us all safe. The police. You know the ones that live next to you , go to your church and whatnot. Well, you may not know it but SOMEBODY is buying these drones. Somebody is launching them. And somebody is monitoring all that they observe. Guess who it is? Give up? THE COPS! The “thin blue line”? Surely they laugh at y‘all when you ain’t around. You can’t make this stuff up.
Anyways, while I can’t really do anything at this point to stop the boot of oppression from coming down on my throat, I can at least look forward to the looks of betrayal and dismay from the left and the right when they try to reconcile why that boot is on their own. It’s a little silver lining I guess.

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 11:53pmYou will have many opportunities to force off that boot of oppression when a civil war comes. I strongly believe that, that, is eventually going to happen. How can it not when we are under so much oppression that is set to only grow?

Please stop the “If you’re not guilty…” routine. Doesn’t anyone get that being surveilled is invasive and thoroughly dehumanizing…
North Dakota, ranch land, lovely vistas, dramatic sunsets…land of the rugged individualist and then suddenly the steady churn of a rotary motor coming from somewhere in the distance, that can record your every move, really kills the romance in my mind. And dumbs down the senses as well.

Posted on August 1, 2012 at 9:00pmLike a tiny leak in a dam, the small amount of water leaking through eventually causes the dam to collapse. It is the same with our civil rights, a little piece here, a little piece there, and we are slaves.

Posted on August 8, 2012 at 3:19pmHere’s an idea, why don’t we have a march on Washington 2 or three million “peaceful” persons march with toy guns ( water guns) as a shot across the bow. With the NRA and the National Association for Gun Rights there are millions. National Assoc. has over a million and the NRA has millions. One email from both should do it. Simply has a POW WOW on the Monument with speakers and such telling them to leave the Constitution alone, get your house in order, reduce the budget, or at least get on, and so on. We need to show unity and that we mean business.
Is anyone with me on this idea?
