‘Real News From The Blaze’: Is Congress to Blame for Decline in U.S. Manufacturing?

U.S. manufacturing shrank last month for the first time in nearly 3 years, a sign analysts say suggests a slowdown for the nation’s economic recovery. Reuters reports that causes for the decline likely include a slowdown in China, the continued EuroZone debt crisis, as well as “uncertainty over domestic fiscal policy.” This uncertainty refers to the “fiscal cliff” of $4trillion in tax hikes and spending cuts due to kick in at the end of the year unless Congress acts to delay or offset them. The reluctance of Congress to address the issue before it all comes to a head in January has many private businesses and job creators in a holding pattern preventing further recovery. With the debt crisis of last summer still fresh in Americans’ minds, many fear that if a similar gridlock is not avoided by years end, we could be heading for economic catastrophe.

On “Real News” Tuesday the panel discussed the latest manufacturing numbers, as well as reported talks between Republican and Democratic congressional leaders about delaying automatic federal spending cuts until March. If a solution is not found by years end, is Congress legitimately all to blame? When does responsibility of the president come into play? Will anyone in Washington act to tackle the problem before elections this November? Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute joined the show Tuesday to break down the situation:

Comeon people. The problems we face as humans are so complex that none can fully embrace most any of them. The fear of what’s next is in us all. We could divide ourselves by many criteria. Why don’t we search for commonality. We all look at the world through a narrow tube. Step outside your viewpoint/religion/polital party. This little marble in the universe is here. We are responsible for it. (Pick your God ,,I don’t care). The talk of more wars, civil or otherwise, is a continuation of our human stupidity. And no, I have no answers.

The PERSONS in all aspect of America that has leadership position, are to blame. THEY HAVE NO MORALS, SCRUPLES, INTEGRITY or DIGNITY. CEOs/CONGRESS/PENTG/SCOTUS all dog eat dog bottomfeeders with NO THOUGHT to the long term damage they cause by their selfish actions.
Americas top is FULL of criminals. THERE NEED TO BE A MASS ARREST to clean house. Drug dealers/arms dealers/insider traders/ theft of the treasury given to private individuals the list is endless of the criminality coming out of our governing insitutions. Until the rule of law is applied…..these people on the Hill/Pent/Scotus/Oval office are LEADING THE COUNTRY INTO ANARCHY.
Say what you will about the French, but they DO HOLD THEIR LEADERS TO ACCOUNT.
French PD SEARCHED SARKOZYS HOUSE…..looking for evidence…..

The blame rightfully belongs with the American people. Sure, Congress is for sale to special interests, and has long abdicated it’s co-equal authority to the President. But the real culprit in this debacle we are in is the American people. Too many of us fail to exercise our right to vote, and thereby allow the Congress to serve the special interests who donate money and resources to their campaigns. We have allowed national parties to call the tune, instead of our Congressmen representing the interests of their constituents.

We have a President who rules by fiat, choosing what laws he will enforce and how, and catering to the special interests that got him elected in the first place. As he’s lost the youth vote, the soccer mom vote, and the traditional liberal vote [not progressive, real liberals who are socially moderate but fiscally more conservative], he’s turned more and more to special interest groups like the LGBT and environmentalist communities for money and support. Labor unions are becoming more disenchanted with His Highness, but not enough to turn away from him yet.

When November 6th comes around, remember that we can, and must, take back our country. We can and must turn out the dead wood in Congress, regardless of which party they are from [they do not represent their constituents, only their party]. Most of all, we need to send His Highness back to his home in Chicago. Every two years we need to be very careful who we vote for, or we will always be to

Thanks George HW Bush, Clinton and all the rest of the progressive leaders in this country in both parties! Your all traitors to America!

THIS IS HOW I REMEMBER IT BUT I WAS ONLY 19 SO FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME: I feel NAPTA was the starting point of a downturn of manufacturing in US and because of “favor nations”, places like Wal-mart changed their stance on “MADE AMERICA” products and turned to “MADE IN CHINA products. And the people of America bought and are buying in abundance items from China because they are cheap.

I believed it was drafted by George W Bush. Bill Clinton signature is on this policy and Newt Gingrich was speaker of the House when it passed. SO In answer to the question of headline of this article so YES & NO !!!

Yes, congress is to blame for the decline in US manufacturing. Specifically, the Republicans are to blame for not impeaching the black, Muslim, Marxist devil in the Whitehouse. It might not be successful but it would force the black devil to expose his lying about everything from his roots to his racism.

The economy of which the congress and president are responsible is the reason manufacturing has slowed.

There is less expendable income in the United States therefore less manufacturing is needed.

The entire world, mostly China and the Far East got fat and happy when our manufacturing jobs were going over seas. Now that American buying power is down, they will either have to live off their own who were receiving very poor wages or find somewhere else to peddle their goods.

Less manufacturing because the economy is stagnant, the economy is stagnant because of the fear to grow when fuel prices are high and taxation is coming.

Businesses only look to expand in the most opportune times, when they can reap the highest rewards. Make a decision to expand and invest the money to so only to have fuel prices rise and taxes take your profits makes for a bad business decision.

The progressive/socialist are begging for businesses to invest so they can get more wealth from our economy and then blame capitalism as a failed economic system. Really King Hussein it’s not that hard to figure out, unless you happen to be a Marxist. You think rich people just throw their money into an investment and make more money. There is a skill to it which you Marxist will never understand. You just think they are being stingey when in fact they are using good business sense.

Are they to blame? Somewhat, yeah, but what does blame accomplish? Nothing.

Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the individual American to secure their own freedom & prosperity. Pressure the bureaucrat and politician that get in your way. What would Patton do? What would Caesar do? What would Reagan do?

It has been shrunk a heck of a lot longer than that.. high taxes, regulation upon regulation sent many companies outside the country! Nothing I hate more than caling about a problem with the phone or computer and talk to someone in India. you can’t understand them.. have to ask questons over and over again.. Bring the jobs back to the USA or stop allowing their product back in the USA.. why, the other reason, cheap labor and greed!

NAFTA/GATT — North American Union — I-35 Corridor — Exporting ‘raw materials’ and labor — Importing the ‘goodies’ to stock the shelves at wally-world — Empty ‘plants’ throughout the country etc… Primarily ‘forced’ by Unions public and private… — Shareholders demand ‘dividends.‘ Who ’makes the rules?’ — Legislators. How do they make the rules? Sell to the highest bidder… so yes — congress is ‘responsible’ for the manufacturing base being shipped overseas for profit. The constituents be damned. — the only thing being produced on a mass marketing scale is ‘bought and paid for’ hyperbole of pundits of all stripes – primarily for propaganda purposes. — When a society fails to allow its people to ‘be independent’ through regulation, and the outsourcing of living wage ‘jobs,’ it is doomed to fail. People will begin to realize this as their OWN ‘sources of income’ dwindle, and their credit dries up. the private sector depends on capitalization (money) to expand — using ‘other people’s money’ is about to go over the cliff as well. $16tillion debt — are you kidding me? WHERE does that fiat money come from to ‘lend’ to capitalists (job creators?) — Right. the Federal Reserve pumping it into the ‘free market’ – to ‘lend’ at interest.

A corrupt Congress full of self-serving Liberals and RINOS… few of whom have any subject matter experience or expertise in the areas of concern for which they pass laws. They rely on lobbyists and their party to provide them with their opinion, and the lobbyists to solidify that opinion with buckets of cash.

With that kind of government, why would anyone expect the country to be any different than it is? I’m beginning to think that even finding one that could spell the word Constitution would be a chore, much less one that actually has read and understands it.

Unions bear a lot of the blame also.
When you have contracts that have 12 weeks paid vacation, many sick days, paid lay offs the list goes on. Thats just UAW, add steelworkers, and what ever you would care to add, Post office, teachers, (teachers what a joke now they teach you can go to jail for disagreeing with Hussain) I know the latter are not manufacturing but some one has to pay for the crap we got.
Mack trucks used to be the one name in trucks, no more.
Bethlehem Steel, now its a Casino.
And we can thank Clinton for NAFTA.

Obama and the democrats are the originators of this catastrophe because of two reasons. Obama desires to ruin the country and democrats want to use the people’s money to buy votes from the blacks and other liberals. As long as obama is president and the senate is run by the democrats,….this nation has no hope of getting the economy up and running.

Think of our country as the statue of liberty. Now, how many shots can lady liberty take before it comes crashing down? I thinks it‘s a testament to the strength of our capitalistic system that we’ve been able to stay up this long. I don’t know how many more shots in th leg lady liberty can take. obama seems hell bent on finding out though.
