‘Real News From The Blaze’: Is the U.N. Trying to Regulate Your Guns?

The U.N. this month begins negotiations on what will be the first legally binding global treaty that seeks to regulate the international arms trade while trying to prevent the transfer of weapons to armed groups and terrorists. The participation of the United States in talks with foreign nations on regulation that could affect American gun rights has some gun-owners in the states concerned. Proponents of the treaty, including the Obama administration, say it has no standing on domestic policy. Critics argue that the wording is expected to be so vague that it will allow some pretty big loopholes that would eventually lead to the infringement of Second Amendment rights.

In response to a letter sent to the president last week from over 100 lawmakers expressing opposition to the pending treaty if it impinges on gun rights and U.S. sovereignty in any way, The Hill reports Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Rose Gottemoeller has released a list of “redlines” that the administration has established for the treaty:

• The Second Amendment to the Constitution must be upheld.

• There will be no restrictions on civilian possession or trade of firearms otherwise permitted by law or protected by the U.S. Constitution.

• There will be no dilution or diminishing of sovereign control over issues involving the private acquisition, ownership, or possession of firearms, which must remain matters of domestic law.

• The U.S. will oppose provisions inconsistent with existing U.S. law or that would unduly interfere with our ability to import, export, or transfer arms in support of our national security and foreign policy interests.

• The international arms trade is a legitimate commercial activity, and otherwise lawful commercial trade in arms must not be unduly hindered.

• There will be no requirement for reporting on or marking and tracing of ammunition or explosives.

• There will be no lowering of current international standards.

• Existing nonproliferation and export control regimes must not be undermined.

• The ATT negotiations must have consensus decision making to allow us to protect U.S. equities.

• There will be no mandate for an international body to enforce an ATT.

The Washington Times editorial board expressed Thursday their worries about the upcoming negotiations:

The recent Obamacare debate over the Constitution’s Commerce Clause highlighted that goods and services need not actually cross state lines to be considered “interstate.” Successive Supreme Court rulings have extended the term to any commerce that even indirectly affects interstate markets – which in practice means all commerce. A ratified treaty, with constitutional authority, could be interpreted in a way that any weapon made with foreign components – or that might some day be exported, or that affects the overall arms market – could be said to be part of “international” trade.

There is also concern that human rights language could act as an impediment to arms sales that would otherwise be considered legal – for example, if the U.S. sold arms to Israel, other arab nations could object on “humanitarian grounds”, etc.

Negotiations, which Iran are a part of, are expected to conclude by the end of the month – should a deal be reached, it would need to be ratified by the Senate – which is now in the control of the Democrats. The treaty has been debated as a potentially serious measure to slowdown violence in rouge nations, but the outcome of the negotiations could at the same time have implications on U.S. elections this November and longstanding frustrations from Americans towards U.N. policy.

On “Real News” Monday the panel discussed whether this is a serious proposal to address a legitimate problem, and if Second Amendment supporters should be alarmed that the administration supporting this treaty has often found itself at odds with American gun-owners. Watch a clip from Monday’s show below:

They are going to try and take our weapons. If we knew what they have planned for us we would see why they want us unarmed. It is easier to bully people that have less ability to fight back and they are busy as beavers trying to make it happen.

My guns will leave my house when i am passed to heaven to be with Jesus Christ. Otherwise they stay on this earth. My property is no different than my life as I spent part of my life earning my property as the Bible puts it “the fruits of our labors.” These fruits are worth dying for friends.

Comrades just as soon as Hillary can get off her broomstick and initial the treaty they will try to discard the second amendment! Actually, they won’t try, it will be discarded!
But since Americans are sheep we will all just mill about uselessly while the Shepherd (Dear Leader) sends his private army (already formed and waiting as part of the state dept run by the broomstick lady) to enforce the treaty.
That way, like every Communist coup that was ever successful the non-existent FEMA Family Detention Centers will quickly be found (Hitler, Roosevelt, and Wilson called them concentration camps, Stalin called them gulags) and the ditch diggers will be working overtime as they eliminate our over-population problem!
But don’t worry comrades, Tinker Bell will show up and spread pixy dust everywhere so it will all be better!

The grabbing of our guns is to make it easier for the chipping on demand through BO care. This is the last kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar, the kingdom of clay and iron mix of its feet. This is the caliphate that BO, has been on his prayer rug praying for. He will do everything to destroy this nation and be as smug about it as if killing an ant. So the UN gun treaty is meant to destroy the second amendment and move us into captivity. HAJI HILLARY has done her best to grab our guns in any way she can. The question is why? Because she knows that she is a traitor and seditionist. The same with Panetta. They fear us as long as we are armed and able to use our guns.

Bryan, You are so right about that. I can see it happening in both the 0bamacare law when eventually we will learn that we can only do things ‘they’ deem safe. Then, this UN pact is a back door way to actually strike down the 2nd Amendment and it will not have to be ratified by each state. Only the Senate. Hope the Republicans in the Senate have enough stones to not to fall for this over the next few months.

I believe you are correct…it will start out slow to test the watres….say…it will now cost you $500 per gun per year to own…..then when no one re-registers and just tells the Goverment they lost the weapon then the price of ammo will go through the roof. When none of this works the bloodshed will begin. And if its with gun owners I know in the Carolina’s there will be more law enforcement killed than civilians.

Just another nudge towards confiscation. If my guess is right, all hell
will break loose sometime around october giving obama a false flag
crisis and he will declare martial law and suspend the elections.
Following that gun confiscation will start and people on the “list”
will be taken to FEMA camps or killed outright. Keep an ear to the
ground and keep your powder dry, hells coming on a fast horse.

Before we have to turn them in we need to use them. I propose a full scale military assault on the UN – no prisoners.

Each member of the strike team needs to bring a 32oz soda with them, we get enough participation not only can we destroy the UN but we will have enough soda to drown Adolph Bloomberg.

    Talk about freedom fighters.

While I am in total agreement, I hope that we all recognize the futility of hunting rifles against $3000 battle rifles with night vison and endless amunition resources, armored vehicle support, air support… Consider the communications disadvantage we “rebels” will have. How many know know that we will face tech that will pin point the location of a single “sniper” shot acurately? I say this to make this point, learn military tactics, form alliances, purchase the items you will need now. Imagine how you will survive outside your homes. Form plans and back up plans. Prepare.

Obama will sign this or implement it by executive fiat so that yet more of our soverign rights will go down the river and into the hands of the UN. The devil Obama will stop at nothing for his globalists views to take hold of our republic and aid in crushing it once and for all.

Its past time to leave the UN and tell them to get off our territory or be dumped into the ocean along with their useless buildings.

Like Solzhenitzen said, “If we had resisted at first, a few of our first resisters would have died, but when the KGB agents died every time they came for us, pretty soon, no KGB agents would obey orders. And The Terror of Stalin would never have occurred.”
