‘Real News From The Blaze:’ Obama Calls for More Stimulus – Good Medicine or Insane?

With the nation’s economy hurting and its spirit challenged, a nervous incumbent President Barack Obama appears to be retreating to economic stimulus by issuing a multibillion-dollar “to-do list” for Congress to create jobs.

The Washington Times reports that the president’s list includes an expanded program to help homeowners refinance their mortgages, a proposal to give small businesses tax breaks for hiring more workers, a program that would help veterans find jobs, and an extension of tax credits for clean-energy companies. Sound familiar? Well that’s because the up to $34.7 billion in proposals on the president’s list are part of a more comprehensive $447 billion jobs package that Congress has mostly resisted.

Are these the right kind of solutions for the problems America faces right now? Isn’t such large scale federal spending and tax breaks part of the reason we are in a hole in the first place?

On “Real News” Monday Will Cain broke down where the U.S. Economy has gone since President Obama took office, what he has done to address these problems, and whether we’re now seeing calls for a repetition of the same policies that have failed to curb decline.

      The definition of insanity is do the same thing and expect different results. It was and is the private sector that did not receive stimulas money that is creating jobs.

    I hope he decides to pay off all the student loan debt this time. We missed out on gettting all our mortgages paid off, but at least King Hussein’s cronies got bonuses.

    Imagine if each house in the US was retrofitted with solar panels. Wouldn’t that just piss off all the energy companies? No revenues from home energy consumption ever again.

    Now with solar panel systems taking homes off the energy market what happens when everyone purchases an electric car that will get it’s energy from the sun.

    Now energy companies have no revenues from energy to power cars.

    What would be left for the energy companies to do?

    For the money that was given to Solyndra a million homes could have been outfitted with solar energy systems to take them off the grid. Using the panels made at Solyndra, by Americans not needing unemployment anymore.

    These politicians aren’t working to make our country better, they are simply attempting to destroy our Republic.

    How can you spend so much money and get so little for the debt you created. Oh, that’s right, the government can’t do anything effeciently, because they suck!

    300 million citizens

    100 million homes

    800 billion dollars for a bail out.

    What’s that $8,000.00 per house for solar panels.

    Poof! King Hussein makes it disappear with no improvements what so ever.

    He is a liar!

      You have no clue how much energy the average American uses and what it costs to generate.

      I looked into adding solar panels to get myself “off the grid”. First of all, such a thing doesn’t really exist. Most all systems simply supplement the homeowner’s use. Unless one is going to add batteries (usually lead-acid because of their storage density) you can’t even HAVE panels without being on the grid. A system with battery backup is much more expensive than just the solar panel expense.

      Then there’s the question of just how much energy one can get from a solar panel. The typcial number of sun light energy is 1.4 kW/sq-meter. Hit that with by the cosine of the latitude and then by the typical solar panel efficiency of about 20%, and someone living in the 37* latitude (middle of the country) and that one can look forward to less than a kW/sq-meter, or about 20 WATTS/sq-ft IF the panel is pointed directly at the sun AND it TRACKS the sun. Between roof slopes and a moving sun, the efficiency would be maybe 10% of that, or a couple of watts/sqft from sun-up to sun-down, which means cut that in half again!

      With the average home in the US using around 10,000 kW-hr/yr, that’s about 27kW/day. That means one needs 2700 sq-ft and $54k ($2/watt) to generate that amount of energy . AND, nobody’s even plugged in an electric car yet!

      Why don’t YOU follow your suggestion and let us know next year how your winter went.

    just a thought – we all know (at least here) that Barry flubbed the oath of office. We were TOLD that he swore it correctly in private afterward but wondering – if we manage to somehow hold him accountable for his traitorous and impeachable actions against our country – can he use the fact that he did NOT say the oath in his defense? Would it work and was/is that the plan all along?

      Osama Bin Laden didn’t take the oath of office. He was still held accountable for his crimes against the US government. I don’t see it being an issue, other than convincing the liberals their party has been high jacked by the communist.

    Definitely Insane., but what else do we expect from a man who can’t remember his past, whose living room he was in, whom his neighbors are, what he learned after 20 years listening to his mentor/pastor, women he once dated, the background of any person in his administration, throws his “loving” grandmother under the bus, has a father with so many wives I can’t remember their names, has illegal aunts suing us for a paycheck and illegal DWI uncles cruising our streets, can’t speak without a teleprompter, is a constitutional scholar only so that he can thwart it’s every stop gate – the man is insanely smart at herding sheep. But we are at fault for giving him cause to think the insanity can continue. We must not be that herd of sheep he leads to the slaughter. Please Lord – help us wake enough stupid sheep in time. I know I am a bad Beck student and missed a ton of “be causes” but even with what is above – Can we really be THIS stupid that reelection is even close??????? If so – kill me now

    Okay, so Obama needs to buy more votes… When will people just get off his back? He’s only trying to get reelected. It‘s a perfectly sane and sober use of Americans’ tax dollars. He just pissed off the blacks by encouraging the Gays. He’s gotta get himself a loan, y,all. Know what I mean?
