‘Real News From The Blaze:’ Obama Speaks Up on Syria, Israel & Iran Conflict Coming to a Head

During an impromptu press event Monday, President Obama addressed the conflict in Syria, threatening the Assad regime while using his most aggressive rhetoric yet in regards to the 18-month bloody civil war.

“We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is (if) we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized,” the president said Monday. “That would change my calculus.”

During the event President Obama acknowledged he was not “absolutely confident” Syria’s stockpile of chemical or biological weapons was secure, and pledged that the U.S. cannot have a situation where the weapons fall into” the hands of the wrong people.”

If Assad were to deploy the weapons, President Obama said there will be “enormous consequences.”

The Hill notes that the president acknowledged the likelihood of a “soft landing” for Assad at the conflict’s end seemed pretty remote, and that the administration has been preparing for a range of contingency plans in Syria. During the conference President Obama also said the issue regarding the security of the weapons is a concern for the United States because of America’s allies in the region, including Israel to Syria’s south.

Israel’s worries in recent days have focused on Iran though, where we saw another indication Tuesday that a strike to Tehran may be coming soon. Israel’s Channel 10 news claimed Monday night that Prime Minister Netanyahu “is determined to attack Iran before the US elections,“ and is now ”closer than ever” to a strike to thwart Tehran’s nuclear drive.

Opening “Real News from The Blaze” Tuesday, the panel examined President Obama’s place in both the conflict in Syria and tensions between Iran and Israel. Is the president’s posture bringing both situations to a head? Would a second Obama term be a blow to progress on both the Israel-Iran and Syrian front? Watch a clip below featuring Christion Whiton of D.C. International Advisory:

Wrong hands? I thought the rebels were our friends? We’re already sending them weapons. So are we putting those in the “wrong hands” too? It’s like fast and furious on a global level. Of course, the media will NEVER ask those questions.

“We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is (if) we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized,”

So I guess a little bit of chemical weapons would be OK?

Obama is desperate to get us into another war for his political gain; Russia and China will turn on us if we do.

Iran is posturing in response to the pending Israeli air assaults; and to deter them, or exploit the move if they launch such a series of strikes, is the Muslim Brotherhood to the south, with armed forces on the border.

Under Obama, this mess has a major chance to ignite a full scale regional war…understand, Assad is in a corner, and if he does unleash chemical weapons, why does nearly everyone think he will hesistate to unleash them on our troops?

Former 4-star General Wesley Clark speaking before the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco claims that shortly after 9/11 he was told by someone at the Pentagon that 7 countries would fall within the next 5 years:

    ——————————–
I said, “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” And he said, “Oh, it’s worse than that.” He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, “I just got this down from upstairs” — meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office — “today.” And he said, “This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.”
Wesley Clark ( US 4 Star General ) US will attack 7 countries in 5 years

Iraq and Libya have already fallen…

    Syria is currently under siege….

That leaves Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran that are yet to fall…

Just a couple of days ago though, Saudi Arabia and Qatar warned all of its citizens to leave Lebanon:
    http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-08-15/saudis-qataris-urged-to-leave-lebanon-as-threats-grow

So is it safe to assume that Lebanon is the next country on the list to experience what is now commonly known as the ‘Arab Spring’?

The dominoes are falling – only this President not only allows them to fall – but sits back with glee and watches them fall… all the while either doing nothing… or actually helps the process.

I am watching the video. It is not proof. If the officer that told Wesley of the memo than why has he not come forward. I bet that person has 20 years in.

I am not a truther, but I for one believe that it is *** worth looking into ***, who helped McVeigh at Oklahoma. Not at the actually site, but in the Phillipines. Terry Nichols did not go to the Phillipines without his wife just to find some prostitutes. Did Terry Nichols meet with Abu Sayyaf, Moro Islamic Liberation Front, AL Qaeda or intelligence officer from a Muslim country.

Iraq broke the armistice from the Gulf War. Saddam & the Iraqi government did not fulfill the terms of the treaty.

Also There was an assassination attempt against George H.W. Bush by Iraq.

The current fighting in Syria was instigated by the U.S. government. The Muslims Brotherhood started a revolt against Hafez Assad 2 decades ago & it was put down when he level a city. The Muslim Brotherhood has not grown fonder of The Assad regime. the U.S. did n;t have to instigate anything.

After Iraq & Afghanistan, Ghaddaffi started cooperating with the U.S. They gave up there nuclear & non nuclear WMD programs. Their intelligence services started cooperating with us. George Bush could have taken out Gaddaffi but he didn’t. So where is the evil plan?

Food prices 2 years ago cause riots in several countries. Read market watch. there was a protest of 70,000 people over the cost of bread. Hungry people is enough of a trigger for revolt. The UN. & several countries have asked that Obama to relax the ethanol standards to keep food prices from rising again in 2013

Read the editorial Ethanol vs. the World in the Wall street Journal 8/11/2012.

I am telling you now that the MB will devalue the Egyptian currency, liberalize the economy or go to war 12 to 18 months from now because of falling currency reserves, 50% importation of wheat & hungry people. Check it out.

Al Qaeda was in Somalia. They are the people that taught Somalis how to shoot down Blackhawk helicopters. Somalia is not that far away form Sudan where Al Qaeda was based.

One of Clark’s most debated decisions during his SACEUR command was his attempted operation to attack Russian troops at Pristina International Airport immediately after the end of the Kosovo War.”

      Hey KID,

True conservatism has been dying-out since the 60′s; and now at last this band of extraordinary neocon personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America have gripped the conservative people by the hair of their heads and have become practically the undisputed masters of that ‘Grand Old Party’! lol

The imperial presidency that we’ve allowed will continue to get us into this and future unconstitutional wars, why bother with the constitution when this Marxist president can simply order troops anywhere he wants. We need to stop being the worlds police because we‘re bankrupt but more importantly it’s in violation of the constitution.

Didn’t you get the memo – there were no WMDs. Of course we can’t be confused by the YEARS of stalling by Iraq.

Reminds me of the drug dealer down the street who pulled a semi trailer up to his door to off load tons of illegal drugs. I called the cops to report it. The cops called my neighbor on Wednesday to tell them they would be around on Saturday to bust them since they had a report that there were illegal drugs there. HMMMM what do you expect the DEA found at my neighbor’s house on Saturday?

I made this up – the concept is the same as GWB & WMD in IRAQ

Wonder what will happen with the Taliban when we are gone ? Wonder if this will make Iraq War look bad ? Wonder what Obama’s motivation is ? Wonder if Obama cares one wit about American interests ?

I can’t believe it was talked about favorably by the panel to target and assassinate civilian scientist. I mean isn’t that terrorism? It’s none of our business what happens in this civil war, and every time we arm Muslims it backfires. Stay the hell out of Syria and Iran. We don’t need to continue making stupid mistakes and bankrupting our country.
