The mandate also includes the Plan B pill. This pill is considered an abortifacient and goes against many religious beliefs not just Catholics.

Some idiot says “well how are they [women] being discriminated against?”

Well, it’s pretty simply–women are physiologically different from men. A man will never get pregnant when he doesn’t want to, regardless of whether or not he has access to contraceptives and/or abortions. A woman without access to both of these things must EITHER be celibate her entire life, or she is at the mercy of nature with regards to when she becomes a mother–no personal autonomy, unlike the man who, for all our lambasting those weak and cowardly men, ALWAYS have the de facto option of walking away from a pregnancy–women CANNOT walk away from a pregnancy.

      Nice try

      1. Insurance companies SHOULD NOT be told by Federal govt which bennies they shall provide.
      2. Companies that CHOOSE to provide health care can pick a company that does not offend their believes.

REMEMBER…. There are ONLY 17 things the Federal Government CAN do..The rest is left to the STATES…..OR….THE PEOPLE!

“We aren’t talking about a MINORITY practice, like human sacrifice, in which case OF COURSE the government should intervene…”
…despite the fact that it features prominently in Christian theology (Jesus, in fact, was the ‘ultimate human sacrifice’ LITERALLY). And, unfortunately, we are talking about human sacrifice (well metaphorically speaking), because regardless of WHERE you fall on the side of the abortion debate, WHATEVER you decide will NECESSARILY deprive some entity of rights.

Either potential people (fetuses, prenatal people/children, whatever you want to call them) are deprived of the rights pro-life individuals say they ought be accorded, OR extant people ( women/mothers, again whatever you want to call them) are deprived of rights that pro-liberty individuals say they ought be accorded. If there wasn’t something AT STAKE, for both sides, then OBVIOUSLY NO ONE WOULD CARE if religious employers decided to limit what their employees can do with their work-related benefits.

    “This isn’t a matter of crime…”
No, it’s PRECISELY a matter of crime, if we accept the clergyman’s definition of “murder/killing,” then it creates crimes where none existed previously–so ON THE CONTRARY, this has EVERYTHING TO DO with criminal law, and what ought qualify as such.

    Dear Readers:

After the GOP decides who their Prez canidate will be here is my humble forecast:

    1. Pres Obama WILL “study” this issue and will reverese his stand on this “problem”. Thus, bring the cathloic faithul back into the fold.
    2. Mr Obama WILL hail the building of the XL Pipeline so as to bring HIS union thugs in line.

I hope and pray Im worng but……..

This move is so obvious. THE Overton Window!!! Obama wanted the insurance companies to cover it all along so what do you do??? Mandate the Catholic Church to do it then back off and say oh well we understand…. How about this…. My daughter does a better job of pushing the overton window on me. Well she used to do a better job now she just tells the truth…. Something the current admin won’t do…

That is exactly right! Glenn asked why this administration was going after the Catholic and hispanic voting blocks. This is the answer–Overton window. It looks like he is trying to shift the argument to make the funding of contraception by tax dollars look perfectly fine. I bet he thought he would be seen as a “white night” riding in to “save” the Catholics, but it appears he grossly miscalculated.

Thats right Barry went to Notre Dame and what did Notre Dame do?? Upon Barrys request cOVERED up religious symbols where Barry was speaking. In essence for Barrys sake God was disrespected for the day by Notre Dames Dean.

RCC is nothing more that a political whore and now the whore masters want their due. And what they think they are due is? that the RCC do their dirty work of genocide. So why are decent Catholics suprised? RCC supported Barry in breaking the law of immigration. That didn’t seem to bother their conscience. RCC is a hypocritical snake itself. What you see is the beast fighting the other beast, with decent clueless Catholics caught in the malestrom..

If the Catholic Church is the whore as you say, why is she the only one standing up telling the whole world the truth about contraception? It is not her fault the world will not listen. When you see the Church you only see the evil of her sinful members. You do not see the beauty of her teachings.

I am not arguing for or against, but I do have a question:

If a follower of Islam says that it is part of his religion to perform an honor killing, or mutilate his daughter, here in these United States, how are you going to use the argument that government shouldn’t infringe on religious activity?

If government shouldn’t interfere in religious practices in some ways, then it should stay out of all practices. For I am sure that when Sharia comes here in more force the proverbial you know what will hit the fan yelling for government intervention and bans.

Personally I think our president is setting us up for just this scenario, and everyone is taking the bait. But that’s my opinion.

The Government is obligated to stop all criminal activity, regardless if it is being done in the name of religion. All of the dreadful things you can mention (honor killing, assault, holding against ones own will, etc…) are criminal acts that have no justification in this country regardless of any sick beliefs falsely held in the name of religion. What about the rights and freedoms of the person being killed, the person being assaulted, and the person being held against their will, all in the name of religious freedom. How can anyone compare these despicable acts in the name of religious freedom to the Government forcing its citizens to do something against their religious beliefs. It can’t be done.

Now compare our religious freedoms and rights to those in Iran and the others who will soon be under Islamic rule and Sharia law (Egypt, Lybia,… the Arab Spring change). Those people do not have any religious freedoms or rights other than those imposed on them by the Islam leaders (rulers). The victims of all the honor killings, all the people being executed and held against their will for protesting, etc…, all these people have no religious freedoms or rights. This is the real issue at hand.

Isn’t it strange that Obama never spoke up or came to the cause of the people rising up against a brutal Islamic regime (Iran), but he rushed to the aid of those that would move under (“change” to) similar oppressive types of government rule.

The above video by Real News is the best discussion I have seen yet. Straight and to the point. Even though Amy was playing “devil’s advocate” here :-) I would urge any woman taking the pill to study the research by the National Cancer Institute more clearly and not the talking points from the Obama administration. Here is a list:

-Increased risk of cervical and breast cancers
-Increased risk of heart attack and stroke
-Migraines (I’ve had a life long battle with Migraines with Aura- believe me this is something you DO not want)
    -Higher blood pressure
    -Gall bladder disease
-Infertility (well maybe you wouldn’t mind this one)
    -Liver tumors
    -Decreased bone density
    -Yeast overgrowth and infection
    -Increased risk of blood clotting

Recap here… Cancer, stroke, infertility, blood clots. Isn’t the number one disease killer of women now heart disease? I wonder if that has any connection?

For some reason the idea of loading your body with synthetic hormones doesn’t sound too cool to me. But maybe it’s just me. I wonder where our esteemed Government Health Nazis are?

But, if you are insist on going down this road and engage in “recreational sex” don’t you think your partner should pay for half your prescription? I mean, if a guy isn‘t willing to do that what else isn’t he willing to do for you? Sort of puts a whole new meaning on the old phrase “giving it away for free”.

I LOVE Real News! Love the show, the format, the panels, the set – but they really have to do something about the camera work, I get motion sick from the continuous movement. I’m sure it is a style that they are specifically employing, but it often is just too much and winds up being distracting.

There are lawsuits going forth demanding the mandate be rescinded. If Obama gets to stay in the Oval Office by means of George Soros funding and Soros takeover of the “Secretaries of State” who count the votes, he will push the mandate through. This will force Catholic institutions such as hospitals, adoption agencies, etc to close their doors. Then Obama will have full control of everything, and will have removed the Catholic church from interfering with his agenda. He will increase taxes to pay for the services which the Catholic Church had previously provided.
We MUST get Conservatives elected and re-elected to the Senate and House of Representatives, so that we will have a majority in the Congress. With a majority, we can defund the czars, and over rule Obama’s executive orders. We are in for the battle of our lives.

Obama was raised as a Muslim, and it is fair to assume he thinks as one. The principle of “hunda” allows lying to achieve a good for Islam. The contraception mandate infringes on our 1st Amendment rights. Obama should be impeached for daring to try and take away our right to the free exercise of religion. His oath stated he would “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution”, He lied.

Did you know that married couples that use natural family planning have a dramatically love (0.2%) divorce rate? They also experience happier marriages.

Did you know that men are more attracted to women who do not use artificial birth control?

Contraception relates to women’s health? Poppy-****. The left now defines pregnancy as a disease. It’s just that simple. I remember when my wife and I were poor in our younger days. We easily found to money for birth control pills. Now the left defines being able to receive all of these services free as “access”. That, my friends is not the definition of “access”. And I take great exception to being forced to pay for women’s birth control and abortions. If this is something they want to do, they and only they should pay for it. I am insulted by this government.

Beck said that Obama is seemingly risking a 2nd term with this attack on churches. I believe he suggested that chaos and street protests are purposely being created to end normal electoral processes and keep Obama in power.

But I think that Obama is simply throwing more Hail Marys into the end zone as his clock runs down, hoping to fundamentally change everything he can without the Constitution, public representation, consent or approval. He has too little time to pull the fleece back on, and we‘re simply seeing what’s always been underneath.

Women know that men can often get Viagra for free, so why can’t women get the pill for free? There’s a big difference between the two circ umstances. It’s called “nature”. A man’s inability to have sexual relations is a medical disorder. Men are supposed to be able to have sexual relations. A woman’s ability to get pregnant is NOT a medical disorder. Nature intends for women to get pregnant. What is not natural, is that technology is developed to the point where women can have sexual relations without getting pregnant, or abort a fetus that was conceived before it’s fully formed. Pregnancy is not an illness at all, and shouldn’t be insured for as if it was a life threatening illnesses.

Adult women have the ability to not get pregnant, by not having sexual relationships with men. If they choose to have sexual relationships with men, then it’s THEY that should pay for contraceptive devices and/or birth control pills. Why should the rest of us have to pay for their decision to have sex for recreation?

      @Diane

Your argument further perpetuates the double standard. What about the men who are having their Viagra covered so they can have recreational sex? Nature did intend for men to have sex, but as you point out, not without the incidence of childbirth. Your argument allows men who want to have sex and not the child to get their viagra subsidized. My question is should we offer viagra to men who are not intending on getting a women pregnant, but are using it for recreational pleasure?

Thomas Jefferson on the rights of concience

“No provision in our Constitution ought to be dearer to man than that which protects the rights of conscience against the enterprise of civil authority.”

“Man has been subjected by his Creator to the moral law, of which his feelings, or conscience as it is sometimes called, are the evidence with which his Creator has furnished him… The moral duties which exist between individual and individual in a state of nature, accompany them into a state of society…their Maker not having released them from those duties on their forming themselves into a nation.”

This is so much bigger than the “religious” arguement that the media is making it out to be!
