Real News From The Blaze: President Obama Pitches Tax Fairness

Looking to possibly steer the national political discussion away from Friday’s disappointing jobs report, President Barack Obama asked Congress Monday to approve an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts to only those families making less than $250K a year in an effort to alleviate the pain of the middle class and shift the election focus to “tax fairness.”

On “Real News” Monday the panel discussed this proposal and President Obama’s frequent use and understanding of the word “fairness” when it comes to tax policy. “Change,” which Obama campaigned heavily on in 2008, does not appear to be what Americans expected as recent polling figures show that likely voters believe the president’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way.     If he really wanted fairness, everyone would pay the same percentage of their income, regardless of amount. It’s all about requiring the successful to pay for the sin of success by footing the bill for those who are not.

    How is it “fair” to expect anyone to pay taxes at a higher rate then someone else? “Fair” would be for everyone to pay taxes at the same rate. If someone makes 10 times as much as someone else they should only pay 10 times the taxes, not 20 or 30 times. How is it “fair” when nearly 1/2 of the wage earners in the country pay no taxes at all? How is it “fair” that millions of people get an “earned income tax return” of thousands of dollars when they didn’t pay any income taxes at all? How is it “fair” to take money from someone and get it to another? We already have the rich paying taxes at a higher rate then everyone else, but somehow they need to pay taxes at an even higher rate to be “fair”. Maybe we need to have a discussion on just what the word “fair” means. Let’s be “fair” and pass a law saying that the Chicago Cubs WILL win the next world series just to be “FAIR”.

      agreed on all but baseball,lol….. One of my sisters and I have similar expenses, 2 kids, married. Although, my family makes way more money than she does. At tax time, we pay in +/- $10G and get back +/- $1,000; She pays in +/- $1,000 and gets back +/- $10G. So her total income for the year grows another $10,000 by tax return on money she had never payed in to begin w/. yeah, that is ‘fair’….. I’m all for a flat tax, get rid of all other taxes, on everything, including property tax and EVERYONE pays 10% to the gov’t. You would see major attitude changes about liberal spending if everyone’s hard earned money was being put in the pot. That would be FAIR all the way around, no money ‘back’ unless you actually over paid.

      The “Fair Tax” rate would have to be higher than 10% to be effective when you completely remove all other taxes charged in the current system. Just look at the Old Testament for information on that because the 10% was the tithe of first fruits but there were other “Taxes” levied for different things.

      Now on the “FAIRNESS” issue, this argument is as old as President Woodrow Wilson, he used that same argument in 1913 to push for the current “INCOME TAX” Law. It was pushed as a “Richman’s Tax” because it would only affect non-labor income. They claimed 100 years ago that it would only affect the top 3% of the Richest Citizens of the United States. And it would take us back 100 years if they win on the same argument. What did they call “Political Insanity”?

    It’s obvious why these lies and bs continue, it’s to get votes………..the votes of the stupid people who won’t even do ANY research on ANY subject (research doesn’t include listening to more liberals or a Nancy Pelosi speech). Is it fair at this time to raise anyone’s taxes, especially when the bottom line will only equal 8.5 days of government paid for!! How is that gonna help anyone BARAKKK? You know the truth, but continue to spew lies to appeal to the simple!! That is very honorable you American wannabee!

    TO HELL WITH FAIRNESS! — WE NEED FUNCTION:

    The Laffer Curve shows that the Maximum Revenue that can be Collected is based upon a 17% Tax! All other Tax Rates & Structures are Irrational & Inefficient!

    The exception rule should only be: Subsistence is spending for only Necessities, thereby the Poverty Level… where No Tax should be Collected!

    The US has allowed itself to get into the situation where only about 52% of the voters have a stake in the country and the others have their hands out for freebies. A nation cannot last like that. In the early days of the nation you could not vote unless you owned land. If it were 5ft. by 5ft….you still owned land. In other words…you had something at stake. Now…people getting free money, free housing, free colleges, and even free telephones can vote to keep making you give them money. It has to stop. If it does not stop voluntarily,…everything is going to fall under the weight of it and all will stop anyway.

    I believe people make their own fairness. Doing your best and not caring if your neighbor has more is a blessing. Enjoy the fruits of your labors, be charitable with your bounty, praise the Lord for his blessings, live and die with a smile on your face. That is real life.

      to me, FAIR is a single flat tax, say 10% of income, all other taxes cease, including property taxes, food tax, gas tax etc… That way state and fed are getting paid, a percentage to income, exactly the same percentage to all. and then 100% of the population has skin in the game; then liberalism will die a swift death when their are no exemptions, no ‘returns’ on money never put in, only if you paid over the 10%. That would be FAIR, and ‘living w/in your means’.

    I really wish the Ameircan people would strap on their 2nd amendment by the millions and walk to Wahsington so we could remove the crooks, traitors, robbers, and war bullies in Washington once and for all. Everyone of them needs to be put on trial for Constitutional treason with few exceptions.
    Anyone who is a member of the UN should be shot immediately for treason. It’s time to lock and load for a revolution. We have terrorists running our gov.

    The whole point is to buy votes. He talks as though the middle class will get more freebies at the expense of the evil rich. He can then give (invest) in big supporters – unions, Solyndras, etc. He cares nothing about what’s better for the country or the economy or the deficit. It is all about BHO.

    I pay about 19% tax rate, I know people who pay zero percent. Let us all agree and be fair, let me be clear, let’s be fair. Everyone should have equal stuff, and equal pay, just like it says in the bible, per Rev Al Sharpton. Let’s make the white devils pay for 400 years of slavery, just like Farakhan says, and let’s make those rich White people pay their fair share, just like our dear leader is saying.

    Tax Whitey, so we can all be FAIR. Except for those good White rich people, like Soros and Buffet, they are taxed at just the right amount.

      You need a light bulb replaced.
      Americans are taxed enough. Fairness would be to remove most all taxes, remove all the freeloaders, remove most of the laws, and hire a new moral congress and executive branch to oversee our money we give to them as tax. Right now all we have is a bus load of domestic gangsters in Washington and a terrrorist in the WH. Christians need to be salt and light or it’s lights out for Amierca. Don’t expect your pastor or neighbor to stand up. You better stand up.

      I believe you take the number of slaves owned by your ancestors which is represented by Sc.
      Then take the amount of white guilt, represented by Ew and the number of years in public school, represented by R. The amount owed will represented by US divided by the entire American Minority population, represented by A
      Now take the entire amount into the formula – (Sc*R*ew+US/A)=$$$$

      At least that is what they are teaching in the African American Studies programs.
