The president’s announcement on Friday that the DHS would no longer seek to deport a section of illegal immigrants is just the latest in a series of moves this administration has made regarding sculpting policy and agenda through selective law enforcement. From DOMA to No Child Left Behind it appears that President Obama has instructed the Federal government to apply enforcement when there is a violation of laws he sees fit, and to ignore the violation of laws he disagrees with. The president has legally defended his actions on immigration by claiming that it is nothing more than a matter of prosecutorial discretion. On “Real News” Monday the panel discussed whether this is a legitimate defense for the administration’s action (or lack there of) on deportation, and whether there is a more suitable way to distinguish this policy:

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 5:48amI’ve never seen a president flounder around and try to find a way to pander to everyone for votes. It is so blatantly obvious that he is desperate and it appears that the American people are waking up. He is letting his anger and detest of America show. He said that he would be transparent and at least in this respect he is.

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 11:27amKing George Bush II had 8 years to do something? About immigration that is? And he did?……and did?…..and did?……and did?…….nothing that I recall.
11.5 illegals have been here 7+ years, and Bush did?…..and did?…and did?…….?
We are giving Pakistan 100 million/month just to use their air space and to take supplies threw the country into Afghanistan. That’s right Bush did do something. He started two non-ending wars at TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS

Posted on June 26, 2012 at 9:13amI agree. I’ve never seen a president put so much time and effort into stripping citizens of all their rights and power, e.g. NDAA, etc. while putting so much time and effort into empowering non-citizens with all the rights and powers he took away from real citizens.

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 1:42amThat’s what I got out of it too. Obama is saying, “I am the Lord, your God”.
I appologize, I shouldn’t make light of your position. I respect that you have a different viewpoint and feel that it is important that we take each other seriously rather than mocking or belittling each other. Our diversity is where our strength emanates. I’d no sooner wish to wave a magic wand and have everyone believe as I do that I would like to have that wand waved at me.
That said, I have rarely seen posted opinions which were written in such a way as to almost beg for having their meaning twisted as this one was.

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 2:49amWhat do you think the meaning of my post was? Also, please don’t use so much sarcasm, I can hardly understand what you are trying to say.

Posted on June 19, 2012 at 5:10amI’m not being sarcastic. I really do appreciate that others feel differently than I do and I suppose you are an intelligent human being who has reached your conclusions for one reason or another. My beliefs work for me, but I suspect that they wouldn’t work for everyone.
I immagine that what you were stating (through your moniker and text) is that religion does harm in several different ways; one by the creation of divisions within the whole of mankind which lead to repressions and inevitable conflicts and another by quoting scripture which boiled down means that everyone should be treated as an equal no matter what nation they come from.
I appreciate your viewpoint and can easilly see how you reached it. I can’t really refute your viewpoint because what you quoted was accurate and there is certainly historical and factual evidence backing up the position I attribute to you.
I see it like a math problem (1 + 2 + 3 for instance). You see the 1 and the 2 and say you see them and I cannot refute that. I, however, see a 3 as well, which leads me to a different answer than you have reached. Since we have different answers and one of us must by definition be wrong, I fully aknowledge that it may be me… perhaps the 3 really isn’t there after all. I just have faith that it is. However, I’m not gonna fault you, demean you or demonize you simply because we have reached different answers. If your answer works for you then I congratulate you and wish you well!

Posted on June 18, 2012 at 10:00pmThis man does what he wants and, in this case, what he thinks will get him reelected: marriage of homosexuals (ignore theDefense of Marriage Act), ignoring the laws on immigration, or whatever. The Constitution is unimportant and, with no guidelines, he decides what the rules are. Instead of “Lex Rex” – established laws rule, he believes in “Rex Lex” — the king makes the rules depending on how he feels that day. This is how the Republic began when the previous King tried to force rules on our forefathers.
Time for a big change in November and a return to the rule of law.
