‘Real News From The Blaze’: Sequestration and Defense

In a rare bipartisan vote, the House voted 414-2 Wednesday to force the Obama administration to detail within 30 days exactly how it would carry out $1.2 trillion in mandated budget cuts over the next 10 years to start in 2013.
POLITICO reports that the cuts, referred to as “sequestration,” are set to hit defense and domestic spending next year because a so-called bipartisan supercommittee could not find at least $1.2 trillion in deficit-cutting measures last November. Republicans and Democrats want to stop the cuts but cannot agree on a plan to get there.
The spending cuts make the second part of the “Fiscal Cliff” that the country faces at the end of this year along with dealing with the expiration of the Bush Tax Cuts and the payroll tax increases. On Tuesday, “Real News” discussed what the cuts could mean for Defense, which could see a major scale-back in support resulting in endangering national security and putting Americans out of work.

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 6:59amGreat government…..spend six months arguing to put a cutting program into affect and then six months trying to figure out how to undo the stupidity of what they put in the first time. Most of these people in Washington are dogs chasing their tails, many of whom have to be rabid by now, so lets put them to sleep!

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 12:32amWhen a $16Trillion ‘economy’ (fed reserve’s printing press–> DEBT transfer payments to cronyism and the ‘working people’) ;shrinks,’ – that economy necessarily implodes – Until the People are freed of regulations which prohibit self-reliance, creativity, and personal CHOICE. Cities going bankrupt – ‘eminent domain’ – same damn tactic used to remove indigenous peoples from their homelands — problem is…. 300million ‘homeless’ prolly won’t allow a few elitists to doze their tee-pees without reprisals… Necessity is the Mother of invention/innovation. Glenn‘s ’vacation homestead‘ was not PREPARED properly to ’go green.‘ Perhaps he should get his hands on some old Mother Earth News mags published from the mid 1970’s thru the early 80‘s and APPLY some of those ’off the grid’ skills. Too much like WORK for most people. (Americans got along just FINE prior to air conditioning, refrigeration and tech toys – yes — it was WORK, but the People on the farms had the FREEDOM to do it any way they wanted to, so long as they did not trespass upon the State nor their neighbors… same is true today – and in THAT is the silver lining in the ‘dark cloud.’) — Grandma and Grandpa were ‘preppers.’ — They were also survivors and took care of their OWN) – Warm milk direct from its source untainted by ‘FDA approved’ additives provide the best nutrition for the human condition, although Nancy Hanks Lincoln wouldn’t agree :-0 LIFE has risks…

Folks, these are BOTH separate tax increases – your wallets will be screaming for mercy in January and the DemonicRat Party and their shills will be squealing with glee…well, at least those shills that don’t know how to read a paycheck stub…

Posted on July 18, 2012 at 10:24pmcall me ignorant about our non passed budgets but why do you always hear about these in terms of 10 years….as in “1.2 trillion over ten years”? Fuzzy math indicates that’s only 120 billion a year…ONLY lol…anyhow, the SECDEF has already ordered 40 or so billion dollars in defense cuts. Are you to tell me we can’t find 120 billion to trim? What about the interest over 10 years on what we are going to end u borrowing if we don’t cut the budget over ONE year let alone 10. Sounds like a bunch of politicing and grand standing to me.

I really don’t like saying this, but you’re right; out of the three boxes of Freedom (ballot, ammo, and jury), we’ve lost the Jury box. That was a big box to lose. A curse on “justice” Roberts and his family, and may they rot in hell…

Posted on July 19, 2012 at 12:49amHere‘s a ’thought.‘ say Romney IS ’elected,’ – and repeats an ‘FDR moment’ (we don’t KNOW what he would do) — the FIRST thing that guy did was declare an IMMEDIATE ‘banking holiday,‘ whereby ’notes were no longer redeemable for GOLD, rather a pre-planned ready-made ‘dump’ of “notes legal tender for all ‘debts’ public and private’ — Then — he initiated a series of ‘busy-work’ projects (day turn guy digs a hole, night turn guy fills it back in, repeat) – for a ‘chicken in every pot’ – Country was STILL bankrupt – still is today :-0 Prior to FDR, the People didn’t need a “license’ for much of anything. This cat was ‘elected’ FOUR TIMES…. (and another historical FACT – his namesake “Delano” was a drug runner for the Crown….. look it up) He was also the same guy that authorized ‘internment camps’ for the ‘evil’ Americans of Japanese descent… Change the ‘terms’ a bit and see how ‘patriot’ fits with this administration… as opposed to ‘anything goes’ “progresives get a pass” Not even in the dark anymore, but in your face! — Ask Ted Nugent ;-)

Posted on July 18, 2012 at 9:20pmThe damage has been done. The dollar will crash, it is just a matter of time. The process has already begun to do away with the dollar as the world standard; when that happens the crash will follow. If you have money in the bank or in stocks when this happens you will lose it. Hyperinflation will follow.
Report Post »To stop this process at this point is almost impossible, and every politician knows that. So, they are all lying….well, except ole Ron Paul.

Posted on July 18, 2012 at 9:11pmI know defense is important to our country, even more so with things going as they are in the rest of the world. However, every single department that will see their budget cut is going to whine and complain about losing jobs and such. Remember, we don’t have a tax problem, we have a spending problem. If the economy collapses from the debt we have, everyone will be taking a big cut. We can’t keep complaining about overspending and then turn around and say “Wait, not this program!“ If they are going to use the ”jobs lost” logic to fight defense cuts, then one could also say that the more wars we get involved in, the better it will be for business and jobs in the US.
I think we should pull out of wars that no longer serve our interests. Afghanistan has already said they are going to be negotiating with the Taliban after we leave. The Afghan people are starting to shoot our troops. We will not achieve our goal there so all we are doing is blowing money and getting our troops killed. We could pull them back to the US and put them on the border to do REAL security by STOPPING illegal aliens and drug cartels from coming into the country.
I don’t think either party is going to do the hard spending cuts we need to keep our country from becoming the next Weimar Republic or Zimbabwe. History may well repeat itself.
On 1st November 1923 1 pound of bread cost 3 billion German Marks, 1 pound of meat: 36 billion, 1 glass of beer: 4 billion.

Posted on July 18, 2012 at 9:01pmObama and the leftist progressives want the cuts to occur to devastate the military while he seeks to involve them in so many other foreign adventurism as his popularity falls across the board. He is growing ever more desperate, he supports the terror bands involved and it would not suprise me in the least if he has troops there already.

Republicans were just trying to score political points at the time and didnt have the courage to make the cuts themselves….So now we are going to rely on Mr. Marxist to tell us what is going to be cut….Great
