‘Real News From The Blaze’: Shakeup in Egyptian Military Signals Power Shift

While America focused attention this weekend to the announcement of Paul Ryan as the Republican candidate for vice president, a major shakeup occurred in Egypt. The Egyptian government under President Mohammed Morsi pushed out a number of top military leaders, nullified a constitutional declaration issued by the military that had gutted the president’s office, and put in place broad legislative and executive changes empowering Morsi. The moves received mixed reactions from Egyptians, including one newspaper which criticized Morsi. The newspaper, al-Dustor, was quickly censored and copies confiscated for “fueling sedition” and “harming the president through phrases and wording punishable by law.”

The consolidation of power by the president, formerly a member of the Muslim Brotherhood party, has been watched by the Israelis with “great concern,” making the relationship between the two nations tense.

Eric Trager of the Washington Institute joined “Real News” Monday to report on the latest developments in Egypt and what they mean for the hopes of domestic and foreign policy stability in the nation, that is less than one year into their first democratically elected government:

Everybody who was surprised by this turn of events, raise your hands. I knew when Egypt’s new president was standing up there prattling on about “Constitutional rights” and running a “Constitutional government” that the whole thing was a crock. The media idiots just ate it up, too. Helloooo . . . what part of “Muslim Brotherhood” did you not understand? The MB is not, and never HAS been a “moderate” Muslim group. For that matter, I am not convinced that such a thing as a “moderate” Muslim group even exists. I have seen scant evidence of it, so far, and if there truly ARE any of those, they have sure been awfully QUIET about all the stuff their more violent bretheren have been up to, haven’t they!

Muslim governments produce NOTHING but oppressive, Fascist societies. How many times does that have to happen before the lamestream media and the sheeple catch on?

I am sure they are. Unlike the bunch running OUR country, Israel’s leaders are NOT stupid, and they know a Fascist Muslim when they see one!

I hope the Egyptians enjoy their NEW “democracy”–

They have given up whatever freedoms they did had.

Career women—like doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists etc.— under Sharia Law dispensed by the loving Muslim Brotherhood, will quickly be religated to nothing more than chattel.

    …And this is progress?

By the standards of Obama this is progress; as it heightens the threat against Israel from the south as his support of the Muslim Brotherhood from the north in the chaos of Syria does as well.

You will not see anything in the media that shows Oblamo in a poor light, as does this topic. I agree with you, it would be nice if topics such as this were part of the national discussion. But they never will be as long as the lame stream media is so lame.
