‘Real News From The Blaze’: Solyndra Update

The House Energy and Commerce Committee released its final report Thursday on the 18-month investigation of the failure of energy company Solyndra, that collapsed 2 years after receiving a $535 million loan grantee. Three subpoenas were issued in the investigation, with five hearings and the review of over 300,000 documents.
The report reveals that in addition to warnings from the Department of Energy, a top White House adviser was given clear information that the solar panel maker faced a “severe liquidity crisis” before the company was restructured, ultimately harming taxpayers.
While the left criticizes the Solyndra story as political haymaking, is the severe lack of judgment on the part of the administration at the expense of taxpayers as exemplified in the report, not something that should receive bipartisan scrutiny?
Joined Friday by Tara Setmayer, communications director for Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, the ‘Real News’ panel discussed the latest developments in the Solyndra controversy and whether the scandal is still warranting the media attention it deserves:

How many administration names are attached to other money/taxpayer back funding? This administration has SO MUCH FAILURE going on that its hard to keep track of it all. George Fraizer? Kaiser? fast tracked the loan because he knew he was closing up shop soon ! Lets see if solyndra went on the SHARK TANK it would have been the best episode yet**they would have sent him packing faster than we lost 535 million? follow the money. where is it now?

Report Post »That line was tongue & cheek. The technology has been around for decades; it was just ,relatively expensive; compared to one dollar /gal gasoline. Now the enviro-extremists block the technology out of fear (false evidence appearing real) and a lust for power.

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 9:09pmIf green energy is viable, it will survive without taxpayer help. It‘s not as if there’s a big technology hurdle for which sometimes government-funded R & D makes sense. The primary hurdle for green energy is an economic one – it has to compete with existing energy alternatives. No amount of taxpayer funding will fix a large economic disadvantage.
Even if you set aside the political payback corruption aspect, President Øbama has shown that he doesn’t understand the proper role of government funding. Come November, he should be relieved of duty before he can do more damage – he’s just not up to the job of president.
