‘Real News From The Blaze’: Solyndra Vs. Staples

New polling out Thursday shows President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in a statistical dead heat in the general election campaign. While the race between the two has been close for months, the Republican challenger is beginning to open up a lead over the president on key questions like who voters believe would better handle the economy and federal budget deficit, an important trend for Romney as 54 percent of registered voters cite the economy and jobs as “extremely” important.

In a column Wednesday titled “Staples Vs. Solyndra,” the Wall Street Journal editorial board argues that Romney must make a better argument for his work at Bain Capital than just equating business setbacks to failed Obama policies, and needs to avoid getting tied up while defending attacks like when he left the firm.

In any event, hitting Mr. Obama for his hypocrisy still won’t win the argument, if both men merely share the blame for acts of capitalism committed by Bain. Instead, Mr. Romney should enthusiastically defend Bain, and the job-creating contrast with Obamanomics that it represents. Did Bain have to cut some jobs as it built companies that ultimately created many more jobs? Yes, but its companies created more than they lost, and this dynamic spirit of improvement and enterprise represents a far better path to prosperity than the government-directed, political investing of Mr. Obama.

With this battle-cry for Bain in mind, and news of a House GOP introduced “No More Solyndras” Bill Thursday, the “Real News” panel broke down the two different economic visions that will be presented to voters this fall. One based on private investment like Stables, another based on public investment like Solyndra.

Watch two clips from the segment that break down what each economic policy model looks like, and whether either candidate even embodies their vision perfectly:

Mr President, in case you didn’t know

The government of the United States of America is not successful on its own. It was built on the backs of Great men and women. It grew from the ideas of Liberty and Freedom that were fought for by people volunteering their very lives. It survives on the hard work of all Americans willing to do so. It is the people that empower the United States of America, not the government that empowers the people. The government did not even give us the roads, internet, teachers, the army or our freedom. Americans gave their consent, their taxes, their time, their labor, their ideas, their dedication and their LIVES to this country so that we could have these things.

We inherited the greatest system of government ever created. We do not take this responsibility lightly; rather we embrace the giants on whose shoulders we stand. We know that we owe our success to those who have come before us and the foundations they laid. That is why we resist Fundamentally Transforming our government and our laws, so that future generations can have the same chance for success that we enjoy today.

Staples is nothing to be proud of, most of its workers are low paid and overworked like wal mart. Also staples will probably not stay around to long if the schooling habits change.

And so our “libertarian” and champion of “individualism” has finally revealed himself to be union guy. Or is the fact that both Walmart and Staples are non-union just a coincidence.

These are “entry level Jobs”. You are not supposed to work at Staples or as a checker at Walmart your whole life. Don’t mean to sound like a snob, but you lack something if you do. Have some ambition and drive and build something with your life. These jobs are low pay because they are no skill, anyone can do them.

I believe that the gov’t should HELP certain programs to a certain point, than let it go free to see if it survives. But Obama, driven by an agenda, believes the gov’t should fund a program no matter how much it cost the tax payers just because it fits his liberal beliefs.

The problem is when government gives money based on who contributed the most to their campaign. That goes for both sides. Solyndra was George Kaiser, one of Barack Obama’s top bundlers from 2008. The new organized crime is called “green” energy. It just sounds so much nicer.

      Comrade a simple question, Why?
Throughout history one thing has been shown time after time, government impeeds progress, it never, ever, creates it!
Government being out of the way allowed this country to grow and develop, and that is why it is no longer doing so, because government is now intrusive and inpeading everything through taxes and regulation.
When Stephen Ambrose began writing his book on the first transcontinental railroad he was teaching his college kids the official party line about those evil railroad capitalists.
By the time he had finished his research he had learned the truth, he had been teaching a lie!
Government help is a lie! Now government did help to make the railroad possible by giving the railroads land for every mile of track laid along with money, a loan. The loan was paid back, with interest, years before it was due.

There’s a big difference between a $20.00 stapler and a Government mandated stapler at $200.00.

Funny Staples is still up and running and Solyndra is not. I guess Romney can pick the winners and Obama the losers.

Rick..we think the Prez picks companies based upon abilities (NOT)…but fgovt. funds, loans and grants go to campaign fund raisers rather than those would deserve!

So you get a bunch of “Barry’s Buds” getting rich on the taxpayers’ backs…while their “green companies” fold and “Barry’s Buds” head to the beach for retirement..leaving their employee unemployed! Or better yet start another new “green company” and fold it too , layoff employees and buy a second retirement home in the mountains on the taxpayers’ back.

Seems like all of “Barry’s Buds” are becoming the new 1%..while the rest of us put up with the IRS!

I’m for the GOP nominee MUTINEER. You on the other hand are an Obama enabler. All you GOP, Republican, Conservative hating Paul worshippers enabled Obama in ‘08, and you continue to enable him in ‘12.

Granted, Romney isn’t Reagan… but Paul hated Reagan too… so enjoy the turd sandwich you enable… Obama.
