‘Real News From The Blaze’: US-Russia Relations 2012

With world leaders in Mexico this week for the G20 meeting, President Barack Obama met with Russian President Vladimir Putin privately Monday to ease tensions and discuss where each nation stands with relations to Iran and Syria. Coming out of the meeting both leaders called for an end to the violence in Syria and continued diplomacy with Iran to stop them from developing nuclear weapons.

Russia has stood as one of the lone world powers aligned with the Syrian government as a humanitarian crisis persists in the nation, and where a Russian ship delivering arms and attack helicopters was headed before halted Tuesday by Britain off the coast of Scotland. Separate talks regarding nuclear proliferation with Iran and world powers also stalled in Moscow Tuesday, with only Russia reportedly looking to continue the diplomatic effort avoiding any military action by Israel. In both cases, Russia stands as a roadblock for U.S. interests. Are we looking at the beginning stages of a sequel to the cold war?

Stephen Yates of D.C. International Advisory joined “Real News” Tuesday to discuss the current U.S. relationship with Russia, and whether escalating concerns are valid and can be solved.

(According to Wikipedia) ..Putin joined the KGB in ‘75…At the time, Obama was 14 years old…So years later..Putin was in the KGB while Obama was smokin‘ it up with the ’Choom’ gang…Would anyone think think that the Russian President would have any respect for ours??…I think we all know that answer.

JFK, who, I think, was one of the greater presidents to hold that office, did not impress the russian leadership very much at the beginning. They considered that he was inexperienced and lacked resolve.

This lack of judgement lead them to attempt installing ICBMs in Cuba, which very nearly began WW3.

Kennedy’s resolve and deft handling of the situation not only caused a russian backdown and belated re-evaluation of Kennedy’s (and the American) character, but also saved the world from barely imaginable horror.

Sadly, Mr Obama is no JFK.

I think that the current situation is more dangerous than most people realise.

According to Obama’s buddies Russia gets the east coast and china the west coast of America. Why should a man ever have respect for traitors.
Benedict Arnold was given what the English had promised him but they never, ever, trusted him. After all, if he committed treason once, why not do it again.

      @ Luke

I take your point but I think that you are being a little uncharitable.

The Bay of Pigs was planned under, and authorised by, Eisenhower. The attack took place a few weeks after JFK took office (he did approve it), but unlike today’s politicians the world over, who seek to blame everybody but themselves, he said: “There’s an old saying that victory has a hundred fathers and defeat is an orphan… What matters is only one fact, I am the responsible officer of the government.”

Vietnam began in 1955 and JFK inherited it. He said, in his inaugural address that America would “pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and success of liberty.”. You may not, agree with that, but it was in fact Johnson who escalated America’s (and New Zealand’s) involvement in that war.

The civil rights issue is complicated with regard to Kennedy. It is true that the issue was low on the to-do list, considering what else was going on, though he made many small political gestures. He said to MLK: “If we get into a long fight over this in Congress, it will bottleneck everything else, and we will still get no bill.” Who knows if he would have followed through on his promises had he not been cut down.

So I take your point, but I think that you are judging him harshly.

This president is week, and Putin get that vibe. so what does a strong person do to a week person the answer is he takes advantage of him. Thats what is going on right now. Putin will push and push to see how week this president really is. Next Putin will then humilate our country. Then a war of words will exist and our relationship with one more country will dissolve. There is a lot of truth in the saying“nice guys finish last”

Russia has never lost it’s dreams of reclaiming Eastern Europe. Now it has all of Europe lapping up its oil supplies. Making bank and purchasing a “do as you please” card on the world stage.

They know that Obama is weak, and lacks convictions, lacks a love of Liberty, and lacks loyalty to our Constitution. These points are easily proven.

Obama has already shown his willingness to kiss up to Putin.

    Where is the public outrage?

The way relations with Putin and Obama go are very simple; Putin tells Obama NO, or GET LOST, to everything and Obama says, OKAY.

“Are The US And Al-Qaeda On The Same Side In Syria?
    Jun. 7, 2012

The Houla massacre in Syria has drawn international attention and humanitarian groups are now calling for western intervention to end the bloody civil war.

However, rebels have strong support from “al-Qaida and radical Islamists “ which presents a clear conflict of interests for the U.S.

Here’s an interview with Florida Congressman Allen West and Newsmax, on America’s role in the Syrian conflict and the global implications of intervention.

’That’s how they do business, and so if we’re going to go in there, we need to go in with very clear rules of engagement if we’re going to get Bashar al-Assad out of there,’ warned West, who had been posted in several combat zones.

‘But understand, you’ll be starting World War III.’

‘On one side you have the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Russia and also Bashar al-Assad,’ West explained. ‘On the other side, you have freedom fighters. You have al-Qaida and radical Islamists. And also you have the backing of the state of Turkey.’
