If Romney gets the nomination then I think Rudy Giuliani would be a good VP pick.

As the panel pointed out, all of the main VP candidates have major problems, so I’ll propose a new candidate – someone who would be a smart, compelling choice: Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers. She’s the highest-ranking Republican in Congress. She’s a young mom. She’s a strong conservative – pro-life, voted against TARP, reliable on immigration. She provides balance to the ticket in terms of gender, age, region, ideology, and experience but without taking anything away (especially in terms of experience – sorry, I just don’t think Rubio is ready; even Christie and McDonnell could use some more seasoning).

Good point, the moderate-liberal leanings of the 3 front running candidates need to be balanced out by having a conservative running mate.
It would be even better, of course, to have a conservative in the race. One day, hopefully, the GOP might figure that out.

    Romney/Santorum or Santorum/Romney

You get the social conservatives and the fiscal conservatives – and hopefully a replay of the 1980 campaign (where 2 candidates at each others’ throats joined up and demolished Obama, I mean, Carter in the midst of a crisis with Iran, high unemployment, and high gas prices).

Rick Perry, Tea Party Conservative, 2nd largest state of delegates, and his lack of debate skills would not matter so much going against Joe Biden in a debate.

Rubio has said over & over & over & over again that he’s not interested in the job. So why are all the idiots keep mentioning his name?? I like Cupp but her choices for a Romney VP is laughable. What, you gonna pair a stiff with a stiff?? Where’s the conservatives?? The only way Romney is gonna energize the base is to have a Tea Party VP. That‘s the only way I’m gonna support Romney. Allan West or Michele Bachmann are excellent choices..

    Romney / Bachmann 2012

Santorum/West! I do not have words to describe how happy this would make me.

West cracks me up. I love his attitude.

I know I am linking to a “progressive” site, but I would be proud to have these quotes attributed to me. And when looking for a quote to show what I mean, there is was with some good ones.

First: I thought this section of that “ThinkProgress” article was hilarious:

“West said Generals “have to be very careful about blindly following a commander in chief that really does not have the best intent for our military.” What West did not mention was that officers are constitutionally bound to follow the President’s orders unless they are illegal.”

Isn’t that precisely what West was saying? West was saying “don’t blindly follow” – TP (a fitting acronym) was saying they are “bound to follow… unless they are illegal.”

I’m not seeing the difference between what both have said.

Oh, you would choose a Community Organizer who never had a job in his life that was not paid for by tax payers? Even a lawyer who’s salary was paid for by Federal grant money ?????

oh PLEASE don’t let it be Crist… there are rumors that he wants to run for Governor of Florida again, but this time as a Democrat! We don’t need the Anti-Rubio to be Romney’s running mate.

We need someone who is strong where Romney is not: pro-life/social issues; ObamneyCare; etc. This will seal the deal and get Republicans/conservatives enthused to go to the polls in November (and thereby win the Senate as well as the White House). The only one I know of that can do that (if the math about Romney being the eventual winner is true) would be: Rick Santorum.

If they can avoid hitting each other too hard during this primary season, they could be the Reagan/Bush of 2012, uniting the party after a contentious primary. It’s worked before and it can work again.
