‘Real News From The Blaze’: War on the Middle Class

President Barack Obama has been on the campaign trail this week lambasting his Republican challenger Mitt Romney for backing policies that the president claims would harm the middle class. On Monday, Romney responded in no uncertain terms, “Let me tell you the heart of my tax proposal: I will not raise taxes on the American people, I will not raise taxes on middle-income Americans.”

While both candidates have essentially made this pledge, a recent Bloomberg Editorial takes Romney and Obama to task, concluding that no matter who is in the Oval Office; your taxes are going up.

This fact goes unmentioned by President Barack Obama, who speaks only of tax increases on the wealthy, and is anathema to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, who insist they can beat the deficit into submission by slashing government spending, cutting taxes and eliminating unspecified loopholes. A look at the arithmetic shows neither campaign is on the level.

The scope of the deficit problem is enormous: Federal spending accounts for 24 percent of the economy, while tax revenue stands at 15 percent. Tax cuts, along with the economic downturn, have sapped tax receipts at the same time as more people have resorted to safety-net programs such as food stamps and unemployment insurance.

On “Real News From The Blaze” Tuesday the panel debated the merits of the Bloomberg.com editorial’s case. Despite what both candidates might say, is the middle class going to be forced to pony up at some point?

Stanley Kurtz, author of Spreading the Wealthcontends that Obama is not only bad for the middle class, but that he has quite purposefully targeted them. Kurtz joined the show for this discussion, watch a clip below:

The Middle Class was too rich, too proud to become Federal serfs. So add Cloward and Piven to the Community Reinvestment Act, remove the Glass Steagall Act, shake well with corrupt Democrat bankers in New York and – Presto! The chief source of wealth of the Middle Class, their home, now has been changed from an asset to a boat anchor. Well done there, Progressives!

talk about a war on the middleclass,my daughter works several jobs to pay her morgage, yet people who through obamas re-distribution.got bank loans, for houses they could not or did not ever intend to pay, live in free houseing so to speak, now obamas solutrion is to pay their morgage or in california they talk about paying off their houses totally???isnt that a form of pandering for more votes at taxpayers eventual cost??the best solution for underwater/non-payment houses is to sell these houses to qualified newleyweds or younger folks who would be responsible or greatfull to own the american dream at a reduces cost, rather than throw more taxpayer dollars down the toilet in order to appease obama followers/voters??

I watched this interview with Stanley Kurtz on Real News. I was appalled at the way he was treated by one of the guys on the panel Ben Domenech. Mr Kurtz was explaining the plan to Force the suburban and rural citizens to move into the cities. This is already happening all around the country. Where has this Domenech Guy Been. Has he never heard of UN Agenda 21 or “sustainable development”. As far as I am concerned, he made a fool out of himself for being so misinformed and basically ridiculing Stanley Kurtz, who did know what he was talking about. Look Up ICLEI, Un Agenda 21……… It Is The End Of Our Sovereignty, Private Property, Privacy, Individual Liberty and Freedom and it is In Your Town.

Maybe he should have asked along with our wedding gifts and birthday checks. Instead of paying taxes just donate it to his campaign. I’m sure a loophole could have been found to make it work. We have seen the Oval office does not need the House or Senate to rewrite legislation. Quote from Larry the cable guy, I don‘t care who you are that’s funny. With a twist of reality though.

Oh please. its about a 50/50 chance he’ll be re-elected, but a %100 chance that the country will survive ok. No matter who is in office about the past 200+ years the country has survived. No matter who wins the country will continue to decline for the middle class. It is not that complicated, when you have free trade in an open market the cheaper products sell and do better, the more expensive ones get cheaper by force to stay in business. The problem for the USA , it is now a GLOBAL market, we have had the highest standard of living and it was more expensive to maintain. now our standard of living will go down, the rest of the world will come up until the 2 are roughly equal. The thing is a few smart wealthy people have taken advantage of this trend that has ALWAYS existed in commerce throughout time. They have gotten weathier, lok apple is made mostly in china by an alomst slave labor with no EPA, yet we enshrine Steve Jobs. Great he made alot of money ok…lots of jobs are in china becuase of the cheap “butt” labor and NO envirnomental regs, do we want to copy that to keep jobs here ? we will have jobs again , just when the wages equal to the rest of the world. nice.

The middle class was strongest and largest proportionate to total population precisely during the period roughly 1950-1980, when unions were strongest. Coincidence? As for NAFTA, it passed over strong union opposition.

I use around $2 of natural gas during the summer months. But my monthly bills are always $25-$30. The majority being taxes. When I graduated college several years back. I did a little investigation project. And I fall in the middle class bracket. After adding up the taxes I payed in my bracket. Putting all the taxes together on the needs to survive, food, clothes, gas, etc. And then the few indulges that we all like to enjoy. I roughly paid 68% of my annual on tax. That was before everything shot up in prices of today. While stationed in Europe I learned that they paid around 55% of their annual in taxes. And they have socialized medicine sell fuel by the liter etc. So they can keep taking but eventually will start pulling back lint. The middle class is the largest economic group. But keep on letting the unemployment climb. Giving tax refund checks that double what the low income pay in at the minimum. Handing out welfare like daily lotto winners. Then we middle class may have to follow the wealthy and put what cash we do have in offshore accounts. Bypass local banks, live on a credit card and pay it quarterly. And avoid paying taxes on our cash we do have over and over. Put some banks in forclosure unyil thry start taxing accordingly for all. Or just stay out of our pockets as much as we can keep them. Until the Americans force their hand, which is very possible when the MC has had enough. We out number them by far, has to start somewhere. Sam Walton did it, it;s possible!

Obama is now targeting the wealthy suburbanites -will tax them out of their homes and put them back in the city neighborhoods – to help raise the poor. There may be other ways he will think of besides taxing them to death in order for them to be more conservative and build up “inner cities” !! This was also on the FOX radio news today. From what Mr. Kurtz mentioned, Obama has been working on these ideas for quite some time. SOOOO, all of you that plan on voting for Obama – think twice before you do, cause you would be shooting yourself in the foot…….
