The charismatic Enrique Pena Nieto is projected to be the next president of Mexico after a preliminary vote count Sunday showed victory for the candidate of the PRI party, that will return to power after being voted out in 2000 following 71 autocratic years in power. With over 55,000 people that have died due to drug-related–and often horrific–violence in Mexico since 2006,78 percent of people in Mexico still want to increase or maintain the fight against organized crime, with only 45 percent saying they believe a ceasefire with the drug dealers would reduce violence.
With the violent drug war in Mexico knocking on America’s door threatening the economic and physical security of both nations, what should be expected for diplomatic relations with the U.S. following a change in power in Mexico? Juan Carlos Hidalgo of the Cato Institute joined “Real News” Monday to discuss this, as well as what domestic security measures could we expect from Pena Nieto. Should we expect a change in policy with Pena Nieto from his predecessor Felipe Calderon? Watch a clip below:

Posted on July 3, 2012 at 11:22amThey plan to return to the days when no one cared about how many tons of drugs were taken into the U.S. They care now!! No not for the reason the might imagine. They care that there is no down movement is weight smuggled here. Profits from the drugs have to grease a lot of palms on both side of the border. We can expect to see a down turn of violence and law enforcement to politicians to start driving better cars and wean better suits. The cost of drugs on the streets here at home will fall dramatically do to more getting across the border. Our Dear Leader El Supremo Beloved President for Life obama has no interest in stopping drugs or illegals from getting into OUR ( I have no idea what country he calls his) country. God Bless America and GET OUT AND VOTE.

Posted on July 2, 2012 at 10:15pmMexico was happy to let the drug trade flourish when they got cash and the Yankees suffered with the problems. What they missed was that with that much drugs transiting their country, some would inevitably be siphoned off for local use. They only started to care when the violence and corruption cause them problems. One could say that they got what they asked for.

Posted on July 3, 2012 at 12:03amyou dont seem to understand, that it is the PROHIBITION OF DRUGS IN THE US… that creates the market for the drug dealers to trade… the market exists becuase of our drug laws…. THERE IS A MASSIVE STACK OF MONEY FOR THOSE WILLING TO TAKE THE RISK and trade the drugs across boarders… so you got gangs arming themselves to the teeth and trying to gain market share.. AND SELL TO A MARKET OF USERS, WHO ARE UNABLE TO AQUIRE THEIR OWN PRODUCT AT A CHEEP RATE, DUE TO PROHIBITION IN THE US… THE CARTELS ARE A SYMPTOM OF A GREATER ILLNESS…
