‘REAL NEWS FROM THE BLAZE’: What Does Your Favorite Beer Say About Political Ideology and Likelihood to Vote

The Atlantic has published an entertaining discovery from National Media Research Planning & Placement, a political media research firm, analyzing what can be learned about someone’s political ideology and likelihood to vote, based off their favorite beer.

What Does Your Favorite Beer Say Political Ideology and Likelihood to VoteBy this index, it would seem accurate to peg Busch Light fans as part of the right-leaning, low turnout crowd, staying at home on election stay (and possibly hungover), with their left-leaning full flavor Busch fan friends. Surprisingly, the study would suggest that Guinness drinkers are the most likely to be found voting in a booth for democrats, and Sam Adams drinkers voting for Republicans.

The “Real News From the Blaze” panel discusses where they fall on the spectrum:

Surprised by this study? What would you guess beer preferences say about political leanings:

Good beer is always more expensive, the big three (Coors, Bud, Miller) use fillers to gain alcohol content where as the most imports and all craft brews use pure ingredients. Also, take volume into account. If you sell millions of cases every year instead of thousands of cases you can keep your profit per unit margin extremely low.

I fought Communists AND drank Beer in an English speaking Country. I had my 19th Birthday in Combat ( I enjoyed my first Guiness Stout that day) and I’ve spent every day since studying them. I was recently instructed to write my Obituary, due to naturally caused health issues. If you are interested in knowing what a dying man has to say to dying people, do a Google Search for “The Brother Love Show – Addicted to Love”. There you will find all I have to say to the Human Race on the subjects of Love, Beer, Good -VS- Evil, Communism and MUCH, much more. I chose to drop this information HERE because I have a great deal of admiration of Glenn Beck and his staff.

I manage a liqour store where we carry a nice variety of craft beer (which I get to pick) so I get to sample lots of beers at cost. Hops make the beer, and not cascade hops (tastes like drinking flowers) but I rarely choose anything that’s not at least a pale ale. Oregon, California, Colorado, and surprisingly Delaware are producing the best pale ales and IPA’s in the world. See, something good does come out of liberal states. It just takes capitalism to make it available.

Yep. Another homebrewer here. Having lived in Germany for a while in the late 70s/early 80s, back in 1985 I took up homebrewing to make a beer that wasn’t Budweiser that was good — heavy, flavorful – that I could afford.
It also taught me patience, which I needed to learn.

That poll bites. I don’t drink any of them. Bud is too wussy of a beer, with no real flavor to it. I’m sorry, but if I’m going to wash my wings down with a brew, I’d prefer a tall Spatan Optimator. Nice thick lager with an awesome, smooth head and just enough of that hoppy punch without being over powering. Don‘t be down on me because I don’t like a lot of the watered down American-ish beers. I much prefer home brewed beers and mead. Some of the best beers and meads that I’ve ever tasted have come from home brewers, right here in the states.
So I don‘t know where they’d try to shove me in there. I guess I just like not being statistically correct. :)

Yes, here in the States it is a sad state of Beer/Ale. Yuengling is a good example. I had friends over from GB and they could not believe it. I had them try Yuengling and others like it “Iron City” was the one they spit out. I do have to say they didn’t mind a Gennesee Cream Ale, Fat Tire, and Blue Moon. So some good things are going on here. Even the Bud is different here than in the U.K. I told them they had to do something with all that Clidesdale Water :-)

There are hundreds of great beer and ales brewed right here in the U.S., it’s just that none of them come from Bud, Coors, or Miller. Most craft brewed beers are as good as you will find anywhere, you will never convince me that I have to buy a European beer to get a good brew, I have sampled hundreds of beers and my top ten is almost all from the U.S. You guys have just lived under the big 3 brewerys for so long you think some pretentious Euro beer sets the standards. Too many Americans just drink to get drunk so they choose the cheapest and largest package available which is usually some fizzy yellow beer flavored water.
