‘Real News From The Blaze’: What’s Working in Texas But Failing in California

Earlier this week San Bernardino became the third California city to declare bankruptcy in the last month. It’s no secret that California has been headed the direction towards insolvency for quite some time, and now it’s starting to collapse because of incredibly high pensions, a difficult business environment and an impossible tax code reliant on the very wealthy of the state (which becomes cyclical revenue if they move).

The flip side of that coin? States like Texas and Louisiana. John Fund notes in The American Spectator that a broader tax revenue pool (not reliant on income or capital gains) and a friendly business environment has put Texas state in one of the top positions on the scale of economic health. Reforms by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal have moved his state from having been known as hostile towards business with a fleeting population, ranked 47th for business climate by Chief Executive in 2006, to now ranked in 2012 as the 13th best state for business.

When we talk about Europe, we talk about contagion. Sadly, it appears that here in the U.S., more municipalities are on the California path than Texas or Louisiana. On “Real News” Thursday the panel compared and contrasted what’s working in Texas that’s not in California, and the lessons that can be learned.

We have been praying for year for a big earthquake to take the bay area and LA and flush them into the Pacific so we can take out state back. Now I wish we could just split CA along that fault line and let them sink under the debt instead.

The quickest and most economical way of fixing California is burning down the Sacramento Legislator House with all the Demorats in it. That’s just my opinion.

“business environment has put Texas state in one of the top positions”, I think we all know Texas is a state, is there a Texas country? I’m not a grammer Nazi, I swear.

A hurried typo, maybe, but the words “state” and “country” are fungible. The Founding Fathers recognised that each of the united (lower case) states had every right any country did, save the “enumerated powers” granted to it (not TAKEN) by the federal government.

The 10th Amendment is what should protect, for instance, Texans, from the ludicrous insanity of a Nancy Pelosi, elected by the dross of American society in San Francisco, by her disgusting antics in DC.

I live in San Bernardino. To be honest our mayor released a video saying he had no idea we had a defict. They just keep voting for the idiots. Remember This is the same guy who is stealing 10% of fedral grant money fpr employment angencys that have nothing to do with the citys general fund.this stuff is to put towards his Phonix recover house or whatever there called among other things. Morris just cant stop spending. Oh and our Welfare population is at somewhere around 60%+. Now tell me how you can not know whats going on in your city as a Mayor. Having a hard time figuring out how these reatrds believe him? Probly to keep there entiltilments.

Even I have heard that California is the real Golden Goose handing out Welfare FREE STUFF for EVERYONE !! “Go to California,” they said, “California will give you FREE apartment, monthy checks, free food, free nursing, free massages, Mediaid…….. if you are “Poor.“ ”So, find a way to be “Poor.“ ”

People, worldwide, know this trick. People from other countries have real “Study Guide” booklets and “Workshops” to gun our stupid Welfare System. They study our system like studying for SAT tests.

Why do I know this? My millionaire aunt from YYYYY country hide her assets in YYYYY country and came to the US as a totally “Poor” person. She never worked a day here in the US.

have lived in Texas 35 years now, and the only people I have seen dressed like a cowboy are at the rodeo or on a ranch. I have NEVER seen anyone dressed like a cowboy on the street – and I have lived in several areas of Texas. I guess I must be missing all those cowboy types.
