Posted on February 7, 2012 at 12:41pmWe just need to stay out of Syria. Syria is not a threat, Syrians love Assad and he is not going any where, and Assad is working to keep terrorists and weapons out of Syria.
If Assad goes down, kiss Christianity in the M.E. goodbye.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 2:13pmWhat have you been smoking? Hassad and his Father have no love for most Muslims let alone Christians – they killed thousands of Christians and Muslim in Lebanon! And thousands of there own people now and over the years in democratic uprisings. He is as brutal to his people as Saddam was but has less oil and the oil he does have is spoken for as it goes to Russia and China, hence the opposition to any UN effort to stop him killing his people with russian and chinese made weapons!

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 2:20amBomb all of Israel’s enemies. That’s foreign policy to Cupp. The rest is just wandering in circles looking for catch-phrases and confirmation bias. “Boots on the ground” and “peace and stability in the region” are used in the same sentence. WOW! HOW?

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 8:01amEvery intervention we have engaged in since the Korean conflict has cost millions of lives and achieved little. Vietnam, ended with the country going communist. Gulf War I, ended with Sadam still in power. Iraq II, left us with an unstable government highly influenced by Iran and getting worse. Afghanistan, we are negotiating to turn the country over to the Taliban, the people we went there to kill. Libya, turned a stable dictatorship (who had turned over it’s nuclear and WMD programs over to the U.S.) into an unstable country with elements of Al Qaeda running the show. Of course we call most of them ‘victories’. We have spent trillions on these failures and lost a lot more in American blood. Let Syria deal with Syria. Or we’ll spen billions, lose too many American lives and in the end, turn the country over to Islamists.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 1:00amVery disappointed in S.E. Cupp who sounded as if she had drank one too many cups of John McCain’s kool-aid. Her saying we need to use boots on the ground in Syria is insane, literally.
Egypt-We did have more involvement than mentioned just no troops or coalition forces. Pressure against Mubarak came from us as well as inspiring the uprising to occur.
Libya-Intervention for “humanitarian” purposes was used to cover for intervention for oil for Europe. There is ZERO interest in Libya for the USA. Our intervention did piss off the Chinese who held oil interests in Libya as well.
Iraq-A total disaster. Intervention for “humanitarian” purposes as well as fear for “self preservation” were used as cover to topple an old friend turned enemy. At the end of the day what was gained? Absolutely nothing. The gas used by Saddam was introduced to him by the US when we backed him against the Iranians.
There is nothing in Syria of strategic interest to the US. There is nothing in the ME of strategic interest to the US, if the US was RESPONSIBLE and produced it’s own oil…..

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 2:30amSyrian Arab Republic is about 70% SUNNI, not Shia.
Alawi, Assad’s faith, is SHIA, not Sunni.
The Ba’athists were once one block before Nasser of Egypt caused a split in the party essentially when the UAR (United Arab Republic) was formed. This is how Iraqi Sunni Saddam Hussein and Syrian Alawi (Shia) Basser Assad are both called of the Ba’ath Party. After the split caused by Nasser, Iraq formed it‘s own Ba’ath Party as did Syria.
Both Ba’ath parties are based on Arab Socialism and Arab Nationalism.
The uprising in Syria is directly related to the Muslim Brotherhood (Sunni) who are a proxy and directly tied to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (Sunni) This is who and why Assad‘s father massacred in the 80’s for protesting his regime.
We are seeing the same thing playing out again. This time, the House of Saud (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) does not have Nasser to out do them and steal their Pro-Arab state support embarrassing the KSA. Like last time under the Eisenhower Doctrine, KSA has USA support so we are basically supporting the creation of the Arab Caliphate to counter the Persians….

Posted on February 9, 2012 at 8:01pmS.E. Cupp’s idea that Iraq is more stable than it was 10 years ago is nonsense. 10 years ago, Iraq had a stable government (albeit a tyrannical one) and was at relevant peace with it’s neighbors. Now it faces an overt takeover by Iran, militia’s in the streets killing Americans, police, civilians, and each other, and does it even have a government worth mentioning?

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 11:19pmI hope GB finds better “experts” to analyze the Middle East. At 1:45, “The population of Syria is largely Shia Muslim, with a Sunni minority and within the Sunni minority an Alawite minority that is the Assad family… Alawites are basically a schismatic sect of what is the broader Sunni faith.” This is completely wrong. Syria is mostly Sunni. The Alawites are a sect of Shiism not Sunnism.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 10:50pmIf you search for tenderness
It isn’t hard to find
You can have the love you need to live
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind
It always seems to be so hard to give
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
I can always find someone
To say they sympathize
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve
But I don’t want some pretty face
To tell me pretty lies
All I want is someone to believe
I can find a lover
I can find a friend
I can have security
Until the bitter end
Anyone can comfort me
With promises again
I know, I know
When I’m deep inside of me
Don’t be too concerned
I won‘t ask for nothin’ while I’m gone
But when I want sincerity
Tell me where else can I turn
‘Cause you’re the one that I depend upon -Billy Joel

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 9:49pmThe problem with this region is that the Islamists/Arabians that want to harken back to the Caliphate during the Ottoman Empire outnumber those who actually want the Democratic/Multiparty system that we would like to see. The “Arab Spring” that the Liberals WANTED to see makes the Occupy Wallstreet people look like a coherant organized group of people. Look at Egypt, they killed over 70 people over a stupid soccer match last week. The problem with putting boots on the ground is that we never fight to win anymore. Ever since we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima & Nagasaki, we’re scared to make anyone mad over the killing of civilians. War is he!! If you make the decision to use our soldiers, you have to unleash the he!! on earth that is our fighting men and women to kill as few civilians as possible, kill as many enemies as possible, then deal with the aftermath.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 10:26pmPeople like Sherman and Patton might be monsters, but the wars they fought ended, and we didn’t have to show up to the region a decade later to fight the same opponent. The American people are cowards when it comes to war, ever since Vietnam they have been afraid of their own shadow.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 10:31pmGee we wouldn’t have to worry about war if we had developed our own oil and other resources, but oh no! We decided to listen to crazy environmentalist whose view on reality is Ted Turner’s Captain Planet, and now we can’t even put a pipeline in state that has a thousand running through it already.
I deal with the cards I am dealt, and I get REALLY upset at uppity libs and libertarians who like to live in a fantasy utopia ville where everything works and then blame people like me for what is wrong with the world. It‘s my friend’s and families blood that has been sacrificed for your fairy tale views of the world, we get no gratitude, and then we have to solve the problems of the world that you happily ignored.
Maybe I should start a new political party for cynics.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 8:51amWe have a moral obligation to stop this virtual holocaust taking place against civilians by this police state. We labeled syria part of the axis of evil and now as people rise up against the regime we stand back and do nothing for months now as people are being tortured and killed en mase. Who benefits-i ask. Must be that israel is telling us that assad has not been bad for them hence keep him in power. What‘s a little mass murder of men women and children if it doesn’t hurt israel.maybe if he commits genocide against the syrians israel can claim the more land. for itself.i just don’t get that we can watch this every day on cnn and do nothing.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 2:07pmRight on. Our problem is that we have Iran, with a goal of world domination of their religion, based on 6th century laws, but now gaining possession of 21 st Century Weapons to further their goal.
And even though they threaten us at every turn, telling us over and over what their goals are, we keep giving them more slack.
What people do not realize is that the next Nuke war is not going to be a Hiroshima, or a Nagasaki, but one of small tactical Nukes strategically launched and detonated at 400 KM, shutting down an entire country in minutes. Iran is now setup with that capabilityy in Venezuela, p[atrolling off our coasts with Missile Subs. And anybody that thinke they wont use those Nukes if they cet them is mistaken.
Khameni warned the other day that there is a great Event coming that will use a gift of Allah to defeat Israel and the Great Satan and Islam will rule the world. Believ it or not. If we allow it, it will happen.

Posted on February 8, 2012 at 3:05amThis is for USNPops: “Right on. Our problem is that we have Iran, with a goal of world domination of their religion, based on 6th century laws, but now gaining possession of 21 st Century Weapons to further their goal.”
Report Post »Stop drinking the Kool-Aid Pop, Pops. The only country with a goal of world domination is the US (and its NATO allies) with its PNAC. Look it up. Iran has been at peace with the world for 200 years and would still be had the US and Britain not overthrown their legitimate leader, Mossadegh – who was non-religious and Western-oriented (London educated) – and put the brutal Reza Pahlavi in place, leading eventually to the Islamic revolution of 1979. Now they’re surrounded by NATO bases.
“What people do not realize is that the next Nuke war is not going to be a Hiroshima, or a Nagasaki, but one of small tactical Nukes strategically launched and detonated at 400 KM, shutting down an entire country in minutes. Iran is now setup with that capabilityy in Venezuela,..”
That Kool-Aid is plenty strong. What you claim (I won’t even bother to ask you for references to sources) doesn’t even make sense in its own terms. You say Iran has nukes in Venezuela and missile subs now patrolling off the US (next you‘ll report Iranian Navy officers spotted in a McDonald’s in Galveston), but that they’ll “use those nukes if they get them.” They got ‘em, but they‘ll get ’em?
Israel, however, does reportedly have nuke subs patrolling off Iran. Maybe you meant that…
