‘Real News’ War Room: Veepstakes Speculation Intensifies

With less than 30 days before the Republican National Convention, speculation has heated up regarding who presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will select as his running-mate. The Huffington Post reports that there is speculation that Romney could name his veep as early as Friday of this week. On ‘Real News’ Thursday, S.E. Cupp broke down the finalists Romney is likely to be looking at, analyzing who will give the Republican the biggest boost and which possible candidates may be just a red herring. Given the polarizing effect of Sarah Palin in 2008, many have predicted that Romney may be leaning towards a less attention-grabbing pick. However, starting to fall back in polls against President Obama, a spark plug selection could be what it takes to get the Romney campaign back on track and ahead of a unpopular incumbent.
Cupp breaks down the speculated shortlist between “plants;” former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, the “stars:” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and the “safe bets:” former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. Cupp reiterated on the show who she wrote in her Daily News column would be the “bold choice;” Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan:
“But a do-no-harm candidate doesn’t also have to be a do-no-good candidate. Sure, I hear the concerns that Romney might be overshadowed by a Chris Christie or a Marco Rubio. And picking a big personality or a minority-group member just as a gimmick might show insecurity.
Still, as the convention nears, Romney needs to show that he can be bold, confident and, yes, exciting. And he can do that with his veep pick — if that pick is Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan.”
Andrew Wilkow’s pick is the newly elected New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez. Watch him defend the unorthodox prediction below:

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 9:10amJindal and Rubio are not eligible because the parents of both of them were not born in the USA. Isn’t that what the birth certificate controversy is about regarding Obama?
Report Post »George Soros recently funded a 5 million dollar Super PAC to dig up dirt on Allen West. Allen West is the one candidate feared by the Obama gang. Black people who voted for Obama, are now sorely dissolutioned. An organization of black pastors are urging their people to consider Obama’s support of homosexual marriage and refusal to defend traditional marriage. Allen West is a retired Lt. Colonel, and a patriotic American of whom black people can be proud.
The fact that he would be in line for the presidency after the end of Romney’s term is a big plus.
Andrew Cuomo, the fallen away Catholic who pushed for homosexual marriage in New York State, is already preparing for a presidential run in 2016. Let Allen West be ready for the job.

We’ve heard no CARDINALS, ARCHBISHOPS, PASTORS AND LEADERS OF THE MORMON CHURCH CONDEMN————-WHOREMONGERING AND BREAKING OF THE LAW AND THE COMMANDMENTS???————————–Bill O’Reilly: ‘I Don’t Think Vitter Should Be There. Absolutely Not’

Yesterday, Anthony Weiner resigned a few days after admitting he sent lewd messages to women he made over the internet. ———————————-Weiner’s announcement came after pressure from Leader Nancy Pelosi, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and President Obama. Nevertheless, top Republicans criticized Democrats for “protecting” Weiner.
————————–1,432 days ago, Sen. David Vitter admitted to being a regular customer of a prostitution service. ——————–(An activity that is, incidentally, illegal).—————– Days after his admission he was welcomed back with open arms by the Republican party.
——————Thus far, the Republican leadership has not been pressed to explain the blatant hypocrisy of their divergent reactions to the two scandals. ———————-Last night, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly weighed in. His message was simple:———————————– “I don’t think Vitter should be there. Absolutely not.”

Posted on August 9, 2012 at 2:26pmRomney is better than the despot in making, ineligible criminal that is in the White House now. Vote for him rather than losing a vote that will give Obama a vote. Vote for the better position it will put America in. A little bit is better than nothing. Pennies make dollars?

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 12:49amJindal and Rubio are not eligible, because their parents were not citizens at the time their birth, thus neither are Natural Born Citizens. I know many need the SCOTUS to reconfirm that since the last time they did. Regardless, picking either I’m afraid will lose many votes for Romney from informed conservative voters.

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 11:01pmCould someone at The Blaze please explain to me why the picture for the Veepstakes segment has Will Cain in it?? He hasn‘t been on the show all week and wasn’t even on the panel tonight to discuss it.Why are you using an old photo for a segment that just aired with someonw that wasn’t there ?
Report Post »Also S E Cupp is completely out to lunch. Why is she always jumping down the throats of the other panelists and cutting them off? She rudely dumps on Andrew Wilkow and Wilkow brings much more to the table then she does.

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 10:11pmI’ve been a bit concerned about S.E. lately. Ever since she got the MesSNBC gig it seams she’s been saying more and more stupid things. Maybe they‘re putting something in her beverage over there or maybe it’s in her MesSNBC contract (that she has to start sounding more and more like them I mean). Either way it’s starting to affect her hotness…now that’s really beginning to bother me!!!

Wow. Mr. Moderate, Mitt Romney IS THE MIDDLE. If he doesnt solidify the right, it is over for him. Besides, we are talking about the 2nd in command, potentially the next republican nominee…..Shouldnt it be a conservative????
SE Cupp is really starting to piss me off

Posted on August 2, 2012 at 9:11pmRomney will go with a safe pick because he is not trying to win. That would be par for the course considering how he has run so far.
Jindal is his best shot. I like Martinez but she will draw to many comparisons with Palin. Jindal and Martinez would be allstars and would overshadow Romney. He wont allow that. He will go with Portman(pretty much unknown), McDonnell(pretty much unknown), or Pawlenty( the worst choice on the list).
