Real OWS Protesters Shut Down ‘Law & Order’ Filming Scene at…Fake Encampment

About 100 Occupy Wall Street protesters shut down production of an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” after they swarmed a park that had been made up to look like the now-cleared Zuccotti Park encampment.
Starting around midnight Friday, protesters roamed around Foley Square in Lower Manhattan, examining set pieces which included tents, protest signs and even a mock kitchen and library, according to the New York Daily News. Among the fake signs were ones that read “End War on Workers” “Greed No” and “War Profiteers.”
“This is not us,” Drew Hornbein, 24, told the newspaper. “We are not part of corporate TV America.”
“Law & Order: SVU” is an NBC drama whose episodes involve investigations of sexual assault. Multiple instances of sexual assault have been reported at Occupy encampments around the country.

About 100 police officers lined the park to protect the set. After midnight, one officer announced through a bullhorn that the city had rescinded film permit, drawing cheers.
“It’s hysterical,” Hornbein said. “Two weeks ago they kicked us out of Zuccotti Park. Now they have this set trying to pretend it’s us. It’s odd.”
Videos uploaded to YouTube appear to show protesters defacing set items, writing “OWS is not for sale!“ and ”We are a movement not a TV plot” in the park.

Police threatened protesters with arrest if they did not pack up and leave, and the crowd ultimately dispersed after a temporary standoff. The film crew later moved in and began dismantling the set, the Daily News reported.
“We made it so that they could not exploit us and that’s awesome,” Tammy Schapiro, 29, told the newspaper.
A man who would identify himself only as “Scooby” said the entire thing was “insulting.”
“This is bastardization going on. This is not the case of imitation is a form of flattery,” he said.

THEY expect to have THEIR rights to free speech upheld and respected, but yet will NOT allow others the same RIGHT. Using BULLY tactics (not just peaceful protesting), they SHUT DOWN anyone who does not agree with THEM. And they are so thin-skinned, Hollywood had best not DARE portray them in any way except in the most POSITIVE light. LOL
It’s probably actually GOOD this happened so that Hollywood can see a bit of who the OWS TRULY IS. They are no better than bullies who can point fingers at everyone else, but once pointed at them they cannot stand it.
I hope Law and Order will simply find another location to film and procede with whatever they wish. I’m not a L&O fan, but I do stand up for their right to produce what they wish. Not at ALL like OWS.

I doubt that will happen, since the Tv show had already caved to their demands, and more than likely they are both on the same team. But, maybe if it woke up just one person on the set crew, that’s better than none!

Law & Order claims to be “ripped from the headlines”..unfortunately…OWS uses those newspapers for toilet paper for their public defecation. We have literally watched one of the dumbest chapters in American leftism play itself into the dung heap of that is leftist failure. My concern now is that an even more fabricated and phony OWS will manifest during the election cycle next year to disrupt Tea Party and GOP events. We’re already seeing the first indications of that.

Yup. If Bruckheimer is associated with the production, then the real message will be that all evil springs from conservatives or conservative philosophy. If Law & Order did a ‘ripped from the headlines’ story about Corzine, he would be transmuted into a conservative. Ironically, if such a show were made, the cops would march into the middle of Corzine’s congressional testimony and slap the cuffs on him…, which is what really should have happened.

Damn near every news reporter works for “corporate TV” thus everytime an OWS protester talks to those reporters, volunteers to be filmed & gives interviews (remember the couple with the hand wiggling) they ARE part of corporate TV.
And everytime they watch broadcasts of the presidents remarks, or politicians stating support for their cause or interviews with their sympathetic liberal celebrities, the union supporters, the local government press conferences, they are supporting corporate TV.
And didn’t they have TVs set up in the park? Sounds to me like they don’t have a problem with corporate TV when it suits them. No big surprise there.
